16.01.2022 Congratulations Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons. Thoroughly deserved.

15.01.2022 Today (Sunday 27 Sep) the Brigade will be completing a hazard reduction burn on the western edge of Catherine Park. There will be crew, fire trucks and smoke in the area. The are to be burnt has changed since our earlier post. The area on the edge of the park and behind the community hall and kindy will be burnt. The area above the road will no longer be burnt today to allow NBC to treat the lantana in that area. Please avoid the area if you can and only call 000 if you see a fire and there is no crew in the area.

This is an important initiative to reduce the risk of bush fire on the island.... A map of the area is attached. There will be fire trucks operating in the area and the roads and paths in the area could be blocked at times. Nearby residents are encouraged to keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering their homes, remove washing from cotheslines and make sure pets have a protected area. If you can, please avoid the area. Any changes to our plans will be posted here.
