10.01.2022 Good news for #Fitzgibbon residents with construction work beginning on the Carseldine Park ‘n’ Ride in mid-August The Palaszczuk Government is addressing th...e growing demand for parking by constructing an additional 170 car parks on the Fitzgibbon side of the station This work is part of our overall plan to improve the livability of the area by upgrading the Park ‘n’ Ride and the construction of the Beams Road overpass in July 2021. Timing Works will commence around mid-August and will be completed by late 2021, weather conditions permitting. Standard construction hours will be 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. There may be occasional night works and weekend works. Work Activities Installation of temporary fencing around the project site. Earthworks will be undertaken to remove contaminated land from the site. Following completing of the earthworks, the construction of the new car park at Lavender Place will commence and include: o Installing a new bike storage compound. o Enhanced pedestrian connectivity and safety by realigning pedestrian pathways and installing CCTV cameras and lighting. o Installing new storm water drainage infrastructure. Expected Impacts Nearby residents, businesses and motorists may experience short term impacts including noise, dust, vibration and light from construction machinery and activities onsite. Changed traffic conditions may include reduced speed limits, lane or shoulder closures and minor delays. Traffic control and signage will be in place as required. Please allow extra time in your travel. Access through Lavender Place will be maintained at ALL times, any detours will be in place as required.
