25.01.2022 This time of year. Welcome again to the renos. This was a test from the other day when I got my beloved Scotty 46 going again. New blades and gave it a going over. Runs like a dream and does a great job. Now to poison the backyard and start again. Front yard will get hit hard soon. Leveled with fine brown, fert adjustment and then water. Now hard when it comes back.

24.01.2022 A babbling post as usual. Cork for main clutch, change or not? Cutter sprocket, swap for a good secondhand one or leave it?

22.01.2022 I have access to a ton of different parts from suppliers all over Australia. I choose the best parts for each job and each individual needs. Some people want to look pretty, some want just a good quality part fitted correctly and have an ear there for the customer with after sales service. Happy to take messages at night too. Two things with this job. Parts and service. 1. New parts fitted and mechanically great in the clutch now. Smooth as silk. 2. Found also that the own...er has not been keen on cleaning the mower down after mowing. Severe rust developing under the grass and holes appearing in the deflector. Grass has acids and ferts present that can eat away at your metal components in that area. These issues will affect the paint, powdercoat, cause rust as mentioned and also affect your quality of cut. Keep it clean with a hose if needed and dry it in the sun. Or blow off grass with a blower or air compressor. If you use water it is imperative you let everything dry very well. Water can build up in areas that it shouldnt like bearing housings. I recommend only a wash when you absolutely need it.

21.01.2022 So many people are after these gems! Don’t get me wrong I think they are the best value for money cylinder mower out there, but they are not as cheap as they once were. Here is a project I’m working on.

20.01.2022 Serious times here at home. All hands on deck to make a dollar. A late model Rover to a mate, of a mate this arvo. Great to talk to this top bloke over the past days and I hope he enjoys this beast as much as I enjoy mine.

20.01.2022 Great question has come up tonight. Backlapping! What do you know about it and how does it work in your opinion? I know to a point what it does for the reel and knife, but happy to have you all put in your ideas and thoughts. You wont be hammered for your ideas but be aware haters and crazy ideas that arent backed up may be scrutinized.

19.01.2022 Ryan Scarifier that will be the workhorse to save the million dollar model 46. Cant go past a $14 pulley. Added a second grub screw and happy days.

17.01.2022 Model 46 continued!

17.01.2022 A message Im sending to a great bloke about reel to knife adjustment and grinding. Hope it helps. Dont shortcut and know what youre getting when you do it or get it done. Hey mate. Thanks for the chat. Here we go. 1. Always sharpen reel and knife together no matter what. Replace the knife if in doubt. Some grinding pros replace them anyway. No matter what. 2. No backlap after a grind is required. If you need to, find another pro to do the job as they are shit. ... 3. Setup should always be minimal contact. Even after a backlap, minimal. Enough to cut paper with a whispy sound like scissors. If not, ask someone in the know to check it. Then maybe it will need attention. Even a bedknife buddy file or reface of the cutting edge would work. Consult someone for sure if in doubt. No clicking or ticking sound is right. 4. If it doesnt sound right or look right, it isnt right. Trust ya gut. Or again, ring someone. 5. Youve sent the reel and knife away and have it back. Set it up and have light contact only. No chains on during setup and then everything locked into place. Bearing housing caps, bearing height adjusting bolts and nuts and lateral housing 1/2 nuts locked in. Do not replace chains unless these are all tight and the reel to knife contact is perfect. Chains may have to be adjusted for proper setup after the reel and knife have been set. 6. Test again. Cutting paper and engage and disengage of the clutch after chain replacement. Make sure it is all perfect. If in doubt, ask someone. Im always available. See more

17.01.2022 42 likes to go before you all have a chance to win $400 in parts from SB Fabrications and myself. Share the page and answer the question coming up to go in the draw.

17.01.2022 Thought this may be of interest to some of you. Upgrading to higher number of blades on a reel is a great idea...............if you can afford it. Clip rate is increased and today I tested the weight increase. We all know it is going to be more but by how much? Here are the numbers. Big thanks to my big lad for helping out. Cant be bothered doing the sums? Here is the data.... 41.6kg with the lad and reel, lad is 35.5kg so the reel is 2.1kg or so heavier than the original that was rounded to 4kg. Also all bearings and washers were accounted for in both but they weigh bugger all.

16.01.2022 Hi everyone. Been flat out of late but the updates are as follows. Firstly Ive requested a name change for the page to not by so specific with what I do. See how that goes but be aware of that being approved by FB. Model 46s are split, 38 tomorrow, resto 17 twin going to blasting and priming Friday, a few sales on the way too plus the usual repairs from local machines. Cant believe how many new cylinder reels have been ordered. Thanks for the support, everyone. I appreciate it. PS- Dont forget to put your orders in for Verticutters coming into the reno times in a a couple of months time.

15.01.2022 Vid 4 and yes, it is getting interesting.

15.01.2022 School holiday fun. However you know things are getting busy when you have had to order this many motors. All assigned to jobs and customers for jobs both now and very soon.

15.01.2022 Groomer, scarifier or Verticutter. What will it be????

14.01.2022 Scarifiers and verticutters- Model 46s to be specific. Something different tonight. I am very lucky to have found this Model 46 last year and to say they are a great machine is an understatement. I love the Verticutter machines that are a Scotty with a verti reel in them but this thing is obviously commercial and makes the big jobs far easier in way less time. Ps- Dont get me wrong, I have two verticutters and have sold heaps to locals and they work unbelievably well. Thi...s thing just does it easier and I paid the right price for it, up until now. Here it comes. The Model 46 was making a noise like it was hitting stones the last couple of times. The first time at my place it actually was hitting stones. Second time, just grass and light soil. Sounded worse. Checked the blades and then found the blades were loose. To me, that didnt make sense as they slide onto a hexagonal shaft and the blades are cut to very close tolerance I would imagine, but Im only learning with the 46s. Ive priced a new shaft and pulley and it is pretty good. Price and quality wise. The blades are well priced too. Thanks to the legends Ive called this week for help. Steve Balchin, Australian Turf Machinery and especially their employee, Peter. Thanks for the help, mate. Anyway, with a few hiccups and a lot of force, it has come apart and needs some replacement parts to get it sorted. See how things go. I may even have a couple hexagonal shafts from a deal a fair while ago. See how it goes.

14.01.2022 Special deal just for members, their friends of my page, a Scotty 20 inch twin rail which is an absolute gem of a machine with a Honda engine and a few parts changed to make it mechanically solid. $1650 cash. Advertised elsewhere for $1800. It has a stainless front roller and has been restored a while back. Very neat and tidy machine.

13.01.2022 A cost of a restoration??????? How much have you spent? If you havent done a Model 45 Resto, what would be your budget if you had one?

12.01.2022 Vid number 2. Scarifier, groomer or Verti???

12.01.2022 Hey everyone, stupid me used CQ which is known around here as Central Queensland. Ill change the name to the proper title when I can. Central Queensland Cylinder Mower Solutions

11.01.2022 Quick and easy job today with the help of Waldo. Stuck pawls in a late Briggs engine. I worked out the issue and just got my great mate Waldo from Waldos Mower Doctor in town to verify the issue. 5 mins later, all fixed. Just didnt want to change or break much and need new parts, Lol. In the end, easy as. The main little plastic cap on top that held all together did not look right. So I re aligned it and all worked perfect. Easy fix.

10.01.2022 Now the learning process of setup begins. More settings on these brackets than I care to have but anyway, it is what it is. Ill figure them out these holidays or change the setup.

09.01.2022 Raw vid, but I am pumped. This project surpasses everything I have ever done and Im very proud that a person has entrusted two local Bundaberg lads to do this project for him. To summarize, 1 x Unicorn, 2 x 46 scarifiers, 1 x 17 solid, 38 edger. All restored, all colours carefully selected to embrace the passion and history of these machines, but done with the love that we all have for our lawns and our machines. Let the games begin.

07.01.2022 Phase one nearing completion.

07.01.2022 Drive clutch cable and drive clutch adjustments. Hope this helps.

06.01.2022 When someone welds a tow point to the unicorn. This afternoons job that will be done mint for a great customer.

06.01.2022 Much respect to Ben. Couldnt have written it any better. I tried to find some fault with what he said, but I agree with 95% of it easily. Read it and learn about why we do what we do. https://lawnsolutionsaustralia.com.au//what-you-need-to-k/

06.01.2022 The 10 blade beast. The Bluenicorn!

04.01.2022 A vid with my mate Gavin Hill here in Bundaberg and his awesome lawn. Thanks to Alex Moyle for stopping by to have a look and my big son, Zac for the video work. I built Gavin a Verticutter and dropped it to him this morning. Showed him quickly how it works and then left him with it. Dont go crazy with grooming and verticutting now my friends. Growing season is all but over.

03.01.2022 And it begins! Model 46, machine 1!

02.01.2022 Vid number 2 about the project.

A huge thanks to George and SB Fabrications and Parts for his support and quality products. Couldnt do this without you, thanks mate!

02.01.2022 Bit of fun for the night. My 2 year old, learning heaps. Lol! Heaps of jobs to do tomorrow arvo. Stay tuned. Hopefully Ill get time to post the jobs that are getting done tomorrow.

02.01.2022 This is another first. Someone dropped the ball in the Rover factory. Hahahahaha! Next door neighbour messaged me today that his late model Rover had lost rear roller drive. When I looked down and saw Damo moving the sprocket freely, I had that feeling that something had majorly gone wrong. Welds have let go. Unreal. No prep on the metal and how it has lasted this long is a mystery to me. Welding on top of unprepared metal is not going to be the best idea. Anyway, enjoy the pics.

02.01.2022 Vid 2 from last post.

01.01.2022 I guess something I havent done on a post here is ask what people may be having trouble with or what info about Scott Bonnar 45s are you chasing? I have plenty of experience now but Im always learning too. If I can help with info or a video, Ill be happy to. If it is a new issue I havent seen before, we can work it out together or I can make phone calls to other people in the know. Feel free to ask below.
