10.01.2022 'The Choices We Make'. From the children's musical 'Happily Ever After' 2004. Book by Debbie Nicholls. Music and Lyrics by Scott Buchanan. Copyright Sync or Swing 2004 'The choices we make, can come back to haunt us. The rules that we break can bring those walls tumbling down. ... Sometimes opportunity knocks on unwanted doorways, Can't keep up with it all, You find that in more ways than one - You have come undone... At times bad things call, without invitation. With no provocation, those walls can come tumbling down - And then it is hard not to be, afraid of the morning, Motivation is gone and all without warning it's true. Now it's all up to you Happily ever after isn't always what it seems But despite the pain, despite the tears - you have to do it Keep your dreams. Happily ever after, Will it ever come to be Or should we just be looking for - The happiness inside Inside of me Happily ever after, Will it ever come to be Or should we just be looking for - The happiness inside Inside of me Inside of me' .............. 'Happily Ever After' premiered MLC Melbourne 2004. Year 5/6 (10 to 12 years of age) students then toured the show to Vietnam. Performances at MLC, International School HCMC and in Hanoi. Raised funds for Loreto Vietnam-Australia Program project (Trish Franklin). The students made enough money (around $14,000AUD) to build a playground in the then brand new school in the Cu Chi area south of HCMC. Performed Wenona School, Sydney 2006 and St Catherines, Melbourne 2007. Currently in negotiation with an Edinburgh Children's Theatre Company for 2016. If so I will be going. Rough audio track available for anyone still reading. Scott B

04.01.2022 Latest news is that I have been commissioned to write a song (and have finished it) for this year's IPSHA festival. It happens every two years and I have co-written the song with Robyn Payne. It will be performed in Dallas Brooks Hall by many hundreds of students over several nights in mid-August. Cool!
