25.01.2022 Pleased to report that my latest book, "The Bold Accountant" is to hand. The first of a series of three official launches will be held this coming Wednesday, 1 March in Brisbane. The launch will be part of a half day workshop which will focus upon being a Bold Accountant. The other launches will be held in Sydney and Melbourne later this year. If you are interested in attending a workshop or getting a copy of the book, please let me know.

25.01.2022 Friends old and new who helped to bring my new screen play to life. Thanks team!

24.01.2022 Some two and a bit years ago, I met Eve Dyer at a QUT author showcase. We spoke at some length about the process of book writing - Eve had a book in the works but had lost momentum. I like to think this discussion helped. Fast forward to this past week and it was great to attend the launch of Eves book, "Ignite Your Power: Unmasking The Five Faces of Anger". Well done Eve! Wishing you every success as you bring your book to the attention of the many who will doubtless benefit from your work.

23.01.2022 I thought I'd share this comment from a recent reader of my book, "Your Professional Headspace" - "Your Professional Headspace should be read by everyone who owns a business definitely not just Accountants. Actually everyone, not just professionals. My partner asked why an accounting book was funny. So I read some of it to him and he smiled knowingly.....is there a section I havent got to yet, entitled the long and suffering partner? With some of the examples, I felt like my life was being described. Either that or the life of my previous business partner! It is a very easy and real read!"

22.01.2022 Looking forward to kicking off my coaching year with a round of group meetings in Adelaide and Brisbane in coming weeks. At two of these meetings, Ill be unveiling some bold new content, comprising "Your Marketing Master Plan", together with accompanying explanatory notes. Im hoping that this Master Plan will enable practitioners to be much more strategic in their approach to marketing - recognising what they currently do well (and not so well), identifying the next aspects to be working on and also those aspects which they choose not to do. The latter could be because its not relevant to the firms target market. Out of all this, Im optimistic that the firms Im working with will achieve great outcomes with their marketing in the year ahead.

21.01.2022 A sample of the resources Ive developed here at Slipstream Coaching, pulled out for a discussion yesterday with a potential alliance partner. Im pleased with how these resources have come together but as much as has been done, Im excited by what is still on my drawing board.

20.01.2022 Bold Accountant workshop in Sydney tomorrow. There's still time to register. Please do so by 4PM today to join us and fellow accountants for a 3-hour workshop that you'll be glad you made time for. You can expect to leave the workshop with a succinct diagnostic that will clearly identify your firm's BOLD capabilities. Here's the link to follow: https://www.slipstreamcoaching.com.au/bold/

19.01.2022 Hard at work last Friday - Slipstream Coaching's #1 group discussing how to improve "engine room efficiency". Participants also worked through a learning module on the organisation chart for their "Firm of the Future" plus exchanged ideas and experiences before completing a 90 Day Action Plan to be reviewed at the next group meeting. A productive day all round!

19.01.2022 A deeply moving performance by Candice Dianna, singing one of her own compositions, at this mornings Red Shield Appeal breakfast, ably supported by the Salvation Army Band and a choir comprised of people who the Salvos are supporting. #redshieldappeal Under the shadow of Cyclone Debbie, today seemed like a perfect time to kick off the annual Red Shield Appeal.

19.01.2022 Reflections from an Italian cycling adventure. I promised myself that this trip would be all about "switching off" but instead, riding through the beautiful Dolomites was great for some creative thinking. Heres the article that started formulating as I wound my way (slowly!) up some of the many awesome hills on my trip. http://www.scottcharlton.com.au/learning-outcomes-for-prac/

18.01.2022 Seen here with Rhoda Tumuisiime from CAANZ at the recent launch of my book, "The Bold Accountant". This photo was taken immediately after a 3 hour Bold Accountant workshop for accountants which was conducted at CAANZs fabulous new Brisbane office. I certainly appreciated the support and encouragement from Rhoda and her team on the day.

18.01.2022 Seen here with the hard working members of Melbournes MDRT Committee, following my presentation "Partnering with Accountants" at the breakfast held on 20 August. As was the case with the Brisbane meeting I attended earlier this year, this was a well attended event with plenty of energy in the room. A great opportunity to share some tips about increasing collaboration with the accounting profession.

16.01.2022 Happy to give the vote of thanks to Jan Becker, guest speaker at the recent networking breakfast in Brisbane organised by Executive Elite, https://www.executiveelite.com.au/. Jan provided an excellent presentation which covered not just the successful training business she confounded, Becker Helicopters Training Academy http://beckerhelicopters.com/ , but the incredible volunteer work she conducts as a midwife in Tanzania. I think everyone felt inspired on both fronts. The breakfast also featured some practical networking that was also enjoyable - a credit to Jaeneen Cunningham and Paul Cunningham the organisers.

15.01.2022 In action at Slipstream Coachings recent Breakaway business planning workshop. Love working with practitioners, assisting them to plan their firm of the future!

14.01.2022 My article "Revenue tips for accountants from financial planners" has just been published in Accuity, the magazine for CAANZ. Heres the link: https://www.acuitymag.com//revenue-tips-for-accountants-fr

13.01.2022 Well, I've got my outfit organised for tomorrow's Alumni Authors Showcase at QUT. https://www.qut.edu.au/alu/news-and-events/news-and-events Thanks to The tShirt Mill www.thetshirtmill.com.au for the fast turnaround!

11.01.2022 Bumper crew at last weeks 2 day "Breakaway" business planning workshop.

11.01.2022 Enjoyed co-presenting at Slipstream Coachings "Breakaway Workshop" last Thursday and Friday. Participants went through a thorough examination of their respective businesses, emerging with a dynamic, one page business plan. The energy in the room was great and there was lots of productive exchanging of ideas. Looking forward to the follow up one-on-one coaching sessions which have been scheduled in the near future.

10.01.2022 Personal Breakaway Workshop for AFA's Rising Stars, September 2018

10.01.2022 An action packed 2016 AFA Conference. I appreciated the opportunity to speak at some workshop sessions. A good time was had by all at the Gala Dinner.

10.01.2022 Looking forward to working more with this man. Brilliant at superannuation, generous to a fault, I felt honoured that Peter Johnson came up from Sydney to be at the launch of my new book, The Bold Accountant. Very much looking forward to being part of Peters grand PD and business planning week for accountants in Bali in July this year.

10.01.2022 Seen here with the hard working members of Melbourne's MDRT Committee, following my presentation "Partnering with Accountants" at the breakfast held on 20 August. As was the case with the Brisbane meeting I attended earlier this year, this was a well attended event with plenty of energy in the room. A great opportunity to share some tips about increasing collaboration with the accounting profession.

09.01.2022 Some years ago I had the pleasure of doing a subject or two in my MBA studies led by Mark Hocknell. We established a connection and I have kept tabs from a distance on Mark’s consulting activities. He reminded me last night that we’d met up a few years ago and I had encouraged him to write a book about his views and experience on customer relationships. What a delight it was therefore to attend the launch of Mark’s book. Judging by the interest in his presentation and the many questions throughout, the book is going to be read and appreciated by a wide audience. Congratulations Mark.

08.01.2022 Exciting times at Slipstream Coaching, with the addition of a new coach. Stay tuned for an announcement in coming days....

08.01.2022 Personal Breakaway Workshop for AFAs Rising Stars, September 2018

08.01.2022 Enjoyed being part of a panel discussion hosted by CPA Australia in Melbourne last Thursday. The topic of the discussion was Succession, with particular emphasis on the owners of small to medium sized firms Fellow panelists were Greg Hayes of Hayes Knight and Daniel Wyner, General Manager Asia Pacific of Wolters Kluwer, CCH. Because of the different backgrounds and experience of the panelists, there was a good cross section of perspectives. The session was filmed and is expected to be made available to CPA members later this year.

07.01.2022 My first book - "Your Professional Headspace". Late last year, it passed 1,000 copies sold. That's real copies, at a genuine price - not those "giving away ebooks for next to nothing price". It's of no concern to me that plenty of authors have sold many times more books. Rather, what does matter is that I know that just abut every one of my books has found its way into the hands of a practitioner, the target audience for whom this book was written. Since releasing the book in... 2011, I've received many heartwarming notes from readers who have expressed what the book has meant to them. I have been truly touched by these comments. Happily, the work I am doing at Slipstream Coaching means that "Your Professional Headspace" will remain relevant for some time to come. The matters covered in the book will continue to guide practitioners and figure in my coaching conversations with them. Various chapters in the book also formed the foundation for the "Personal Breakaway" program that I developed to help practitioners get more of what they want out of life. Recently, I took delivery of the new edition of the Book. Not much has changed to the actual content but it was nice to add some author's notes as to what has changed in my journey since the book was first published. Thanks for reading. Scott See more

06.01.2022 Photos taken during the recent Bold Accountant workshop in Melbourne earlier this month. Thanks to our friends at BT, we had a brilliant venue and all participants got to take away a copy of my book. The feedback received on the day was excellent. Thanks Melbourne!

01.01.2022 A significant day in the life of an author... Seen here at the launch of my book, "The Bold Accountant" last week. The launch was integrated into a 3 hour workshop of the same name, attended by over 50 people.
