25.01.2022 Great week of being out on the doors listening to residents about their concerns. The same themes emerge around jobs, cost of living and law and order. Look forward to seeing who Ill meet this week at the door and working with them towards a solution. Remember, feel free to contact me by email or phone if you wish to raise anything with me.

24.01.2022 Ill continue to fight for the community and make myself available rain, hail or shine so that locals will always have the opportunity to raise their concerns face to face. Thanks to those who opened their door today to chat and provide pointers to me on staying warm and dry!

24.01.2022 The weather did not deter the residents who attended the street meeting in Woodvale this morning. One thing is clear, these residents are not opposed to developments. These residents are not what the government refers to as NIMBYS. These residents are opposed to the types of developments that are inappropriate to the area and those that create monsters like the one below.... They are not alone. This is a systemic issue across many suburbs that must be addressed.

24.01.2022 Now, more than ever, it is important to check in and see how those around you are going. Asking, listening and encouraging action lets that person know they are valued, worthy & cared for. You dont have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before theyre in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life.... #RUOKDay

24.01.2022 Liza Harvey has just announced a major election policy that will create more opportunities for WA small and family-run businesses, helping the WA economy bounce back quicker and stronger. Under the Liberals Local Jobs Guarantee, "local" will mean local, ensuring WA small and family-run businesses are given preferential treatment and the opportunities to create more jobs here in WA. Labor's bungled local jobs law defines local businesses as "suppliers of goods produced, or ser...vices provided, in Western Australia, another State, a Territory or New Zealand". Recently, this has meant $9 million worth of small business contracts that could have been done by WA businesses and workers were awarded to eastern state companies. The Liberals Local Jobs Guarantee ensures local means local, keeping local jobs and profits here in WA for a quicker and stronger economic recovery.

23.01.2022 Great news for our local community! Greenwood College is set to receive $2.4 million in much-needed refurbishments of classrooms and education support facilities. The Liberals SUPPORT this investment and have committed to progressing the refurbishment in full if elected to government. ... Under the Liberals Local Jobs Guarantee will also ensure that the refurbishment jobs are delivered by local tradies to help tackle Western Australias record level of unemployment.

23.01.2022 Residents are sick and tired of hearing tyres screeching and people have no regard to others safety. More needs to be done to ensure we make these hoons accountable.

22.01.2022 A common theme I hear from residents is that we need to do more to protect flora and fauna in residential planning developments. These type of developments often appear to be at odds with conservation and we need to do more to find a way for both to co-exist. Couldnt believe my luck in finding this Kookaburra perched on the fence.

22.01.2022 2020 has been a challenging year for many within the community. Everyone has had a different experience with many still struggling yet one thing is consistent, we as a community have banded together and continued to support one another to ensure we all get through this together This is Dene from Aussie Pooch Mobile. Throughout 2020 she has kept a smile on her face and I guess when you have clients like our fur baby Indi, its easy to see why. So keep checking on your neighbours and local businesses to keep the conversation going by making sure theyre ok.

21.01.2022 Caught up with some locals to listen to their concerns, aspirations and to understand what they would like from the local community. Good coffee was one of the priorities and 5 points kitchen delivered the goods. If you wish to catch up to have a chat, give us a buzz and we will grab a cuppa.

21.01.2022 Last week I was lucky enough to be able to take this little heartthrob on the road with me. It was even more important given it was National Child Protection Week and the theme for 2020 is Putting children first. He loved the public events and was well behaved in meetings too. I wonder what adventures we can get up to this week little guy!

20.01.2022 I have again written to the Minister for Planning for her to *urgently approve* the City of Joondalup draft Scheme Amendment No. 5 so that it can be *implemented immediately* to allow better management of the impact of development on existing residents and streetscapes within the City’s Housing Opportunity Areas.

19.01.2022 It was my great pleasure to donate three bins to Corinthian Court Village in Kingsley so they can participate in the Container Deposit Scheme. 2020 has presented many challenges for fundraising so this is a great way for them to bring in some additional funds whilst being environmentally responsible. Great work

19.01.2022 Massive day at East Green - Greenwood today at Greenwood Connect 2020. Great to be connecting with locals and discussing various issues from those affecting small business through to concerns around jobs and community safety. As always, please dont hesitate to contact me if you wish to raise a concern so we can work together to find a solution.

18.01.2022 This week I had the absolute privilege of attending the opening of the new premises at The Grove in Warwick for Grandparents Rearing Grandchildren WA Inc. I look forward to working with you and supporting the vital work that you do for kids in our community. Thanks for having me along.

18.01.2022 Local residents raised with me the issue of dead trees in a local park opposite Woodvale Primary School. These trees created a safety risk for those who visited the park and used the play equipment. Today, after raising the issue with the City of Joondalup, numerous dead trees and foliage were removed. Ive also been informed that the City will be planting up to 20 native tuarts to assist the ecosystem that calls this place home. This is great news!... If you have any issue or concern that you wish to raise, please contact me and we can work together.

18.01.2022 Every time I see a daffodil I think of my nan. She experienced breast cancer at a time when detection and treatment wasnt as advanced as it is today and often left women with more than physical scars. Today its a totally different story. Research and treatment for all cancers is way ahead of what my nan experienced, thanks to the efforts of the Cancer Council and their annual Daffodil Day fundraiser.... Is there someone you know and love whos dealing with cancer? We can all help move closer to a cure when we buy a daffodil this Friday. Nan, this one is for you!

17.01.2022 Great day out in the community with the updated wheels. She also needs a name, so any suggestions are welcome! If you see the car, come and say Hi. I am always willing to listen and see what we can do together to help.

17.01.2022 With the giving us a taste of what its capable of, dont forget to slip, slop, slap!

16.01.2022 Great news for our local community! Warwick Senior High School is set to receive $2 million for performing arts. The Liberals SUPPORT this investment and have committed to progressing it if elected to government. ... Under the Liberals Local Jobs Guarantee will also ensure that jobs created on the back of this investment are delivered by local businesses to help tackle Western Australias record level of unemployment.

15.01.2022 Whilst out this morning, I found this in plain sight. This is hardly surprising as community keep raising with me they are concerned about the increased prevelance of drug paraphernalia being found in public. 1. People need to show respect and not litter.... 2. The community does not need to be subjected to such paraphernalia. 3. More needs to be done in front end education for prevention and in assistance for support services to assist those who use drugs. See more

11.01.2022 Locals tell me they are worried about crime. At our community Crime Forum last night, locals shared their stories about crime in our community and we heard from respected former Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan on what we need to do to make Kingsley safer. Shadow Police Minister Peter Katsambanis - Liberal Member for Hillarys told the forum that violent crime is up and 11 out of the 15 Police districts across WA dont have the Police Officers they need.... This just isnt good enough. Its why Im fighting for more local police, to keep you and your family safe at home and in our community. Thank you to everyone who came to the forum and shared their views. Community safety is one of my top priorities for Kingsley.

11.01.2022 If there were awards for letterboxes, this would take the prize! On a serious note though, residents are really concerned about the overall level of safety in the area and the lack of clarity, transparency and consistency with local planning approvals. We need to give the local police more support to help the community feel safety and we need to a fix to the planning system which appears broken.

11.01.2022 First time connecting with a local through this little guy! The resident was at work whilst I was at the door. Technology has sure come far.

10.01.2022 Residents tell me that this property has been vacant for over 12 months. This property has become an eyesore in the local community. Its really disappointing that given the increased societal issues being experienced the Department of Communities has let this property sit dormant, unmaintained and unoccupied. Ive raised this issue with the Shadow Minister of Community Services and for Homelessness who is following up with the Government. ... I will keep you updated once we get a response.

09.01.2022 Out making myself available to the community so that they have an ear to listen to them and a voice to fight for them. I hear time and time again that safety is an issue for the community. People have the right to feel safe in their own home and also in the community. The community wants real action, not lip service.

08.01.2022 There’s a saying that goes from the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. It means that the things we say reflect how we feel deep down. Ending violence against women starts with the way we speak about women, talk to women, and demonstrate our attitudes towards women to our children. I’m fully behind 16 Days in WA. It’s all about breaking the cycle of violence against women starting with showing more respect towards ALL women, regardless of their age.... As a son, a husband, and the father of a daughter, I want each of the important women in my life to know they have my respect and they will know it by the way I speak to them, speak about them and act towards them. To find out more, click this link https://www.communities.wa.gov.au/projects/16-days-in-wa/

07.01.2022 I dont need much motivation to wear my purple, and today Im over the moon, as I can bring together my two passions - my favourite footy colours and raising money to help kids with cancer. Today is Fight Cancer Foundations Footy Colours Day, and Im raising funds for our three year old neighbour (and friend of our daughter Aubrey), whos fighting cancer and currently having treatment. If you can donate to Footy Colours Day today, then why not do it for all of September and... get your work mates, club buddies or family involved. To the Fight Cancer Foundation crew, thanks for everything you do to support kids battling cancer. I just love being part of this community.

06.01.2022 It has been a great afternoon listening to residents about their concerns. A common theme from residents is that it is often the most simple and logical solution which is overlooked. Today, it was the safety of road users that was of concern.

06.01.2022 Thanks for the kind words Vinnie. Listening to the concerns of the community is what drives me to keep going. It would be remiss of me to think I could do it myself and solve all the concerns. Its a community effort and Im here to listen, learn and fight to ensure community has the best representation possible.

05.01.2022 After a great day connecting with the community, it was good to get down to the oval to see Kingsley Football Club take on Collegians. Special mention to the Kingsley Senior Women's AFL Football Club who got the choccies and took home the Premiership against Kenwick Go the Cats!

05.01.2022 Great to be down at East Green - Greenwood for the Greenwood Connect 2020 event. Come down, say hi and let the kids be amused with all the attractions. Pretty sure my little one will spend her time at the fairy face painting and the animal farm!

05.01.2022 The weather was spot on at the Food Trucks in Barridale Park last night. Great to see so many locals soak up the sun whilst grabbing a bite and letting the kids do what they do best. Street food is best shared with Friends and Family!... Thanks Big Kid Events for putting on the show!

04.01.2022 The WOODVALE SCOUT GROUP is expanding at a rapid rate with great uptake since forming the other month. The Scouts are run by volunteers and provide a vital service to the community, not to mention teaching the Joeys, Cubs and Scouts some vital skills too. It was my great pleasure to be able to donate four tents to the Scouts so that their upcoming camp (and many more camps to come) could be a great success. I wish them all the best with their future adventures and look forw...ard to continuing working with them. It is important that Community Groups receive support as required and I will always fight to support those groups run by local volunteers that make our community even better.

04.01.2022 Following a community meeting with residents in Warwick last month, I wrote to the Statutory Planning Committee in support of the City of Joondalup's Draft Scheme Amendment No.5 which is due for consideration by the Committee. There are many examples of inappropriate developments within the community that have been raised with me and I have witnessed first hand. The support for the Scheme Amendment was on the basis that it will provide clear balanced rules for new develo...pments in the Housing Opportunity Areas. Check out the letter of support below If planning developments are of concern to you, please get in contact with me so that we can work together.

03.01.2022 Whilst pounding the pavement, I met Aaron who works in the Agricultural sector. Aaron outlined the cost of red tape and its negative impact on his business. Like so many other business owners, red tape is a real issue driving up the cost of operating their businesses. A lot more needs to be done to reduce the cost burden for business owners.

02.01.2022 I cant think of a better way to help raise money to support cancer research than Daffodil Day. Thinking of my nan today, who survived breast cancer at a time when detection and treatment was nothing like it is today. Lets do what we can to advance cancer research.

02.01.2022 Liberals again supporting our local community! Hawker Park Primary School is set to receive $1.5 million for early intervention. The Liberals SUPPORT this investment and have committed to progressing the construction of a purpose built facility that will provide access to early childhood programs.... Under the Liberals Local Jobs Guarantee will also ensure that the construction jobs are delivered by local tradies to help tackle Western Australias record level of unemployment.

01.01.2022 Thanks for having me down this morning on the tools at Bunnings. No, I wasnt at the tool shop, but was assisting Grandparents Rearing Grandchildren WA Inc. raise important funds by cooking a few snags.

01.01.2022 Being R U OK day. I made the extra effort today whilst out door knocking to ask the simple question. This is Brian. His business, like many others, has been affected by the downturn. When asked R U OK? Brian let me know he was but that some of his friends and family, both here and in the Eastern States, are doing it harder than him. He is making sure he stays connected with them to give them what support he can! This is what its all about. Checking in with your family and friends to make sure theyre OK!

01.01.2022 Whilst out listening to residents today, I couldnt help but notice that the toilet block at Shepherds Bush Park is coming along at speed! Hold tight residents, soon the bush and the neighbouring houses will no longer be used as a toilet block.

01.01.2022 Nature at its best this morning with this friendly Kangaroo paying the street a visit. This reminds me of Woodvale back in the early 90s when Chichester Park was full of Kangaroos as the sun came up.
