24.01.2022 School excursions are always a fun part of the curriculum. Excursions also provide another dimension to learning, helping to reinforce classroom teachings whilst in a new environment. Visiting Monarto Safari Park was such an exciting adventure!... #schoollife #schoolfun #excursion #monarto #adelaide #primaryschool #learning #nature #smallschoolbigheart

24.01.2022 Today our school was honoured to take part in Nature Play SA book launch 'Where birds sing and wildflowers dance' written by Jason Tyndall. A renewed narrative of connecting to nature and ourselves, it approaches conservation education in a bold manner while recognising nature at the centre of who we are, as people and a collective. As part of the launch, our students took part in recognising the Kaurna people with a performance and presentation of their aboriginal learnings... with uncle Tamaru, a Kaurna Elder. For further information about this unique book and to make a purchase, please go visit www.natureplaysa.org.au #Nature Play SA #scottcreekprimary #SAEducation #conservationeducation #learning #southaustralianschools

23.01.2022 Our Year 7s are having an awesome time on camp at West Beach with their peers from Mylor Primary. Due to covid their Canberra camp was cancelled but they are learning about systems of government from our local MPs in Parliament House.

23.01.2022 Ahoy!! What an absolute pleasure we had participating in the education program hosted by the South Australian Maritime Museum today. Our students got involved in hands on activities, while being taken back in history by exploring real objects that belonged to real people and incredible replicas. Providing this connection allows our students to see, hear, feel and touch allowing their curiosity explore the boundaries. If you need ideas for school holidays, why not become a ski...pper for the day and visit the South Australia Maritime Museum! www.scps.sa.edu.au #scottcreekprimary #schoolexcursion #smallschool #smallschoolbigheart #maritimemuseum #handsonlearning #SAEducation

15.01.2022 Have you been enjoying the sunshine as much as we have this week? We haven’t wasted a moment, and our teachers here at Scott Creek Primary School use every opportunity to approach nature as a setting to teach the students more about our local wildlife. By building and fostering a child’s curiosity towards animals, we can encourage a caring and sensitive approach and nurture those all-important feelings that form part of all relationships. Essentially, we are preparing our st...udents to be responsible community members, environmental caretakers and global citizens. www.scps.sa.edu.au #scottcreekprimary #SAEducation #smallschoolbigheart #environmentallyconscious #environmentaleducation #SASchools #natureschool #natureschooling

14.01.2022 At Scott Creek Primary School, our beautiful grounds give us the advantage to implement a daily outdoor learning program for our teachers and students. This enables our students to develop an adventurous spirit, manage personal risks, and experience safe journeys in nature. If your child is an outdoor explorer, then this school may just be the perfect fit for your family.... http://www.scps.sa.edu.au/ #scottcreekprimary #primaryschool #natureschool #sustainableeducation #sustainableschools #outdoorplay #outdoorschools #smallschoolbigheart #smallschool #adelaidehills

10.01.2022 After a big break it was wonderful to have a whole school assembly again! The Uppers recited the poems they have been working on this term; some of the Middles presented their poster presentations; the Juniors showcased their book reports; and our String Ensemble played some of their new musical pieces composed by one of the students.

08.01.2022 Thank you @friendsofscottcreekconservationpark for hosting us. A wonderful day was had by students, staff and parents! We look forward to watching these beautiful plants grow and are proud to see our students living our School Values: "We take active care of the natural environment and the local and global community."

08.01.2022 Book Week Parade is always fun. Earlier this term, teaching staff enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters. What is your favourite book from childhood?

07.01.2022 At Scott Creek Primary School, we take any opportunity to leave the 4 walls behind of the classroom and sit amongst nature. We are continually updating our digital technology devices so our students have an increased access to learning opportunities. This benefits our students in many ways and forms important life skills they will use throughout their future. Preparing our students for their future is our number one goal, and if we can achieve this while listening to the kook...aburras, then we are doing a pretty good job! www.scps.edu.au #scottcreekprimary #outdoorclassroom #smallschool #digitaltechnology #smallschoolbigheart #primaryeducation

04.01.2022 Last Friday the Scott Creek Progress Association held their annual bon fire night at our local Scott Creek Oval. We love how humbling and supportive our community is, and each year this event is held to help raise funds to assist in the upkeep and maintenance of Scott creek hall and oval. Our School also held a cake stall, and we are so incredibly thankful to the students, parents and teachers that put in their time and efforts to assist with this fundraiser. We raised over ...$300!!! Such a fantastic result for our community and school.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to all our students who entered the Oliphant Science Awards this year! Your projects look amazing! Here is a sample of the entries. The Oliphant Science Awards is an annually held competition for South Australian school students from Years R -12 to develop their interest in science!

02.01.2022 Our Friday’s may look a little different to yours, that’s because we are privileged here at Scott Creek Primary School to have Kaurna mentor Adrianne, and Kaurna Elder uncle Tamaru visit us weekly to give us a unique experience into indigenous beliefs, traditions and cultural values of the Kaurna people. Building respect and improving our students appreciation with these cultural teachings enables our students to form a sense of connection with the land and people. Essentiall...y, we are providing our students with the tools and knowledge through cultural activities including; smoking ceremonies, bush tucker cook-ups, kuarna artwork and aboriginal body painting (just to name a few). We can’t help but feel a sense of pride that our future generation here at Scott Creek Primary School are leading the way into reconciliation with our indigenous brothers and sisters.
