25.01.2022 The Billycock to Scottsdale Recreation Trail never fails to deliver. Vivid green rolling hills, contented cows, Man ferns and remnants of a bygone era. We also had conversation with riders from interstate.

21.01.2022 Had a great ride today on the North East Rail Trail from the Billycock to Scottsdale with Liz. Nice and cool, no rain, no snakes, saw 2 roo, 3 wallaby, 2 echidna and lots of birds.

10.01.2022 One of 4 couples on the Rail Trail yesterday.

07.01.2022 I have been busy the last couple of days, transfer of keen Rail Trail enthusiastic riders on our patch.

07.01.2022 A seven klm return trip on the Rail Trail from Scottsdale Bike Hire 42 King Street / Scottsdale Art Gallery Cafe. One electric bike and one GoPro 360 Fusion camera attached on a wand also attached to the frame of the bike. The idea was to find out how vibration and shock would affect the video produced by the camera. As it turned out the camera handled it very well, i was very surprised as the shock of the trail surface dislodged the fixtures of the camera several times. The camera has two memory cards and for this video i used the back card.

02.01.2022 Dons Dunny is flushing again.

01.01.2022 A lovely couple from Victoria today. Chose E bike's for the journey back to Scottsdale.

01.01.2022 A recent bike ride down the North East Rail Trail prompted this short historical documentary on the line. In its day, this line was an amazing achievement both ...from an engineering and management point of view. It was built without any heavy machinery and came in under cost an unusual event for a government project. The line serviced the rich agricultural, mining and forestry industries in the north east. Although some of heavy industries that this line serviced are closed, one wonders why the gravel, logs, milk and potatoes couldn't still be carried on a line like this. With the huge increase in ever larger trucks on our narrow roads it seems that maybe some vested interests have influenced our politicians. While many countries have developed their rail systems, ours have been left to wither. I wonder environmentally, which form of transport is more sustainable? On the other hand I did enjoy the ride through some magnificent countryside. If anyone has photos ,film or video of steam trains on the Scottsdale Branxholm line I would like to get copies. You can contact me through this page. See more
