25.01.2022 Is our local port going to have a big FOR SALE sign on it again if Deb Frecklington and the LNP get into office? Will they do what the Liberal government in the NT did and sell it off to China? It’s a real possibility - they wanted to sell it off last time they were in an take most of the proceeds south. This time they have $24b in unfunded election commitments to pay for.... They won’t say how they are going to do that, but we all know it’s going to have to involve sacking staff and selling off asssets. One thing I can assure you of is that this port will be staying in public hands under the Palaszczuk government. It creates local jobs, makes a profit for taxpayers and has an important role to play in our economy recovery. That’s why we’ve invested in it and will continue to do so.
25.01.2022 Great news: We’ve got a roadmap for the further easing of COVID restrictions. Some highlights: Beers at the bar are back from 4pm today The border to NSW will reopen on November 1 if community transmission remains low... Dancing at weddings is back on from November 1 as well. We’ve got the health response right. Now we can focus on the economic recovery #economicrecovery
24.01.2022 Our mining sector is an absolutely vital part of Queensland’s economy and we need to make sure it stays that way in the future by backing the exploration of new sites. To help drive our long term COVID recovery, the Palaszczuk government has established a $10m fund to support mining explorers, while also opening up more land for exploration. Last week I got to check out the work being done on one site - at Mt Flora, near Nebo. Despite being in the Bowen Basin (which is best k...nown for its coal resources) there was actually a copper mine on this site more than a century ago - and this work is about seeing if one could be viable today. Great to get out there and see what’s happening on the ground.
24.01.2022 An incredible 900+ Townsville businesses have benefited from the Palaszczuk government’s COVID adaption grants. That’s more than $8m that has flowed directly to local businesses to help them through this challenging time. And it’s made a huge difference to businesses like Nourishing Bites, which used the grant to help beef up their online presence and are now going great guns ... It was fantastic to take Small Business Minister Shannon Fentiman MP along to catch up with owner Shelly at her West End shop. If you’d like to check out their fantastic range of gluten and dairy free treats head to: https://www.nourishingbites.com.au/ #SupportLocal
23.01.2022 A positive step forward
22.01.2022 Don’t worry girls and boys, Santa is good to go for Christmas! Santa and his reindeer have been given special permission to visit Queensland and deliver pre...ssies this year. Children are encouraged to put out treats, but make sure you wash your hands beforehand! #Christmas
22.01.2022 We’ve had a fantastic time campaigning on Magnetic Island today but the highlight for me had to be meeting Barney. He’s in Grade 2 and is already taking a serious interest in our political system - in fact he’s extremely well informed. What a champion!
22.01.2022 The LNP have effectively given up on winning a majority and are now hoping to get across the line by helping parties like the Greens and One Nation to win seats. We need a strong government to continue our economy recovery - that’s something only Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor can deliver. Don’t risk our recovery on this rabble.
20.01.2022 This is good news for businesses and families https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au//queensland-to-reopen-bor
20.01.2022 If you feel sick, please get tested
20.01.2022 It was good to meet with the new Minister for Children Leanne Linard MP over the weekend. She’s in Townsville to meet with local Child Safety staff, Cleveland Youth Detention Centre staff and to check on the progress of the recommendations of the Stewart Smith report.
19.01.2022 Over the past few years, the Palaszczuk Government has invested more than $2b in local infrastructure projects in Townsville, including: Stage 1 and 2 of the Haughton Pipeline Townsville Port Expansion Townsville Ring Road... Townsville Stadium We've also invested strongly in frontline services, hiring extra police, nurses and teachers here in Townsville something that will continue if we are re-elected. But there's still more to be done, which is why we've recently announced our Townsville Action Plan to drive our economic recovery. It includes: $14.2m for new facilities to train workers in hydrogen and advanced manufacturing jobs at Bohle TAFE. $5m for a new multi-purpose hall at Pimlico State High School $556,000 to upgrade the Murray Sporting Complex $30m for Big Rocks Weir $10m for DriveIt $19m to upgrade Riverway Drive Backing Copperstring 2.0 Payroll tax relief More than $8m in COVID Adaption Grants for 800 Townsville businesses But we need a strong and stable government to keep our economic recovery on track - that's something only Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor can deliver this election. We can't afford to risk a messy LNP minority government led by Deb Frecklington and aided by the likes of One Nation and Clive Palmer. #NQJobs #Gettingonwiththejob
16.01.2022 The best thing you could say about this is it shows very poor judgement from Deb Frecklington and the LNP. We can’t afford to risk that right now. We need a strong, stable government to continue our economic recovery and a leader that can get important calls right. Story here: https://www.google.com.au//s/amp.abc.net./article/12748400
15.01.2022 We got the health response right, now we can focus on the economic recovery - and it’s great to see a sharp improvement in the jobs market
15.01.2022 The Palaszczuk Government has invested more than $2b into local projects in Townsville over the past few years and kept Queenslanders safe by standing firm on border closures despite the constant attacks from Deb Frecklington and the LNP. Now we need a strong and stable government to continue our economic recovery - and that's something only Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor can deliver. We can't afford to risk our recovery on the mess of a Deb Frecklington-led minority. #NQJobs #GettingOnWithTheJob
14.01.2022 This week my office received a number of calls from residents complaining that Magnetic Island Medical Practice wasn’t offering bulk billing for under 12s and pension card holders. I quickly got onto the Townsville Health and Hospital Service who have addressed this with the new practice owner. He was very apologetic about the mix up and I’m advised that from Monday the practice will be offering a bulk-billing option for those groups. This is a good outcome for the community and I’m glad we’ve been able to sort it out quickly to ensure everyone on Maggie can access primary healthcare.
14.01.2022 This is what you can expect under an LNP government - the loss of almost 30,000 jobs. That sounds like a great way to derail our economic recovery. This is why we need a strong stable government that will focus on creating jobs, not destroying them - and that’s something only Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor can deliver this election. ... https://www.abc.net.au//qld-election-lnp-budget-/12770292
14.01.2022 We need a strong, stable government to continue our economic recovery - and that’s something only Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor can provide. The LNP have given up on forming a majority and are now actively working to get both Greens and One Nation candidates elected while partnering with the likes of Clive Palmer. That’s a recipe for disaster.
12.01.2022 COVID-19 update with the Premier and Chief Health Officer.
11.01.2022 BREAKING: Deb Frecklington has effectively confirmed the LNP will work to help Greens candidates win seats in Brisbane this election.
10.01.2022 When Deb Frecklington, Scott Morrison and Clive Palmer tried to force Queensland to open our border, Annastacia Palaszczuk stood strong and kept us safe. Because of that, and the great work of Queenslanders, we can focus on delivering our economic recovery plan - it's about creating jobs, supporting business and backing manufacturing. Here in NQ, it includes:... $10m for DriveIt $30m for Big Rocks Weir $19m to upgrade Riverway Drive $240m towards stage 5 of the Townsville Ring Rd (With the Commonwealth) $195m for Stage 2 of the Haughton Pipeline $14.8m for Copperstring 2.0 Payroll tax relief COVID support loans for local businesses COVID Adaption grants for small business #TeamQLD
10.01.2022 Well there you have it. Deb Frecklington has been privately boasting about her open the border campaign and admits she was working with Scott Morrison to attack Queensland and the Premier. Imagine what could have happened if we’d opened the border to Victoria in June. ... Story here: https://www.theaustralian.com.au//f6a0d744f0bc32816b90a365
10.01.2022 Clive Palmer really said this. He reckons he can buy an election for Deb Frecklington. If that’s not bad enough, the LNP have announced a bizzare plan to try to prop up both Greens and One Nation candidates across the state because they think it will help them scrape together a minority government. That’s a recipe for chaos and uncertainty and a risk to our economic recovery.... We need a strong and stable government right now - and that’s something only Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor can provide this election. 09.01.2022 Public Health Alert: Queensland Queensland Health is asking anyone who has arrived in Queensland from New Zealand since 14 January 2021, including on gree...n corridor flights, to get tested and quarantine until you receive a negative test result. This comes after New Zealand recorded a confirmed positive COVID-19 case in a returned traveller who tested positive after completing 14 days of hotel quarantine. The woman has since visited a number of locations in New Zealand. The woman is confirmed to have the South African variant of COVID-19, which is more contagious than previous variants. We are urging anyone who has returned from New Zealand to get tested immediately, even if you do not have symptoms and to quarantine until you receive a negative result. Contact tracing is currently underway by New Zealand Health authorities. For anyone with concerns or is unsure if they need to get tested or isolate, please call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84). To find your nearest testing clinic, visit www.qld.gov.au/covid19testing.
08.01.2022 A real pleasure to have Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk MP and Minister for Children Leanne Linard MP here in Townsville today to celebrate Australia Day.
07.01.2022 The 2020 election campaign is officially underway. Annastacia Palaszczuk stood strong against the attacks from the LNP and others and followed the health advice to keep Queenslanders safe. Now we can focus on an economic recovery plan that is about creating jobs and supporting business. Deb Frecklington yesterday made it clear the LNP has given up on winning a majority this election. Instead they will use their preferences to try to help both the Greens and One Nation win sea...ts in the hopes they can cobble together some kind of minority coalition when the dust settles. We can't afford to risk our economic recovery on that - we need a strong, stable government, which is something only Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor can provide. #qldjobs #qldvotes
07.01.2022 Another Townsville location added, please share and get tested if you feel sick
05.01.2022 This is the choice facing voters this election We can’t risk our economic recovery by putting it in the hands of an LNP team that don’t have a plan and are so desperate they are trying to help both One Nation and Greens candidates to win seats in the hope of cobbling together some kind of minority government. What we need is strong leadership and stable government - which only Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor can provide
05.01.2022 A great honour to be part of this team and representing the people of Townsville
04.01.2022 Big endorsement from across the pond A big thanks to Danny for wearing one of our shirts and grabbing this shot while campaigning for Jacinda Ardern in NZ. Like Annastacia Palaszczuk, Jacinda hasn’t shied away from making the tough decisions this year. She’s kept her country safe, which means, like us, they can focus on their economic recovery at a time when other countries are grappling with fresh waves of the virus. ... All the best to her and Labour for next weekend’s NZ election!
03.01.2022 This is a disturbing look at where LNP cuts can lead In South Australia right now the LNP government has bureaucrats telling doctors to turn away older patients because they can’t afford to treat everyone following budget cuts. Here in Queensland, Deb Frecklington and the LNP have already made it clear they will be hiring fewer nurses if elected - and they still have $24b worth of unfunded election promises to pay for. ... Story here: https://www.abc.net.au//manager-urges-surgeons-to/12717132
03.01.2022 If you were at any of these locations around these times and feel sick, please get tested ASAP This morning it was confirmed that a Townsville woman has tested positive for COVID-19 in Melbourne. She’d been in Victoria for three days prior to her positive result and it’s likely she contracted it in Melbourne. ... But we can’t afford to be complacent about this so please get tested if you feel sick. Below is a list of places she visited here before heading south.
02.01.2022 Great news for Townsville Last time they were in power, the LNP sacked local hospital staff and Deb Frecklington has already signaled plans to cut health positions if elected. The Palaszczuk Labor government has spent the past six years undoing that damage - and we’ll continue to invest in our local health system by hiring additional nurses, doctors and health workers if elected.
01.01.2022 Good luck to all the families and kids starting school today - or starting back - and to all the teachers and school staff as well. Let’s hope 2021 will be a much smoother ride for everyone than last year. And everyone: Remember school zones are now back, so take care when driving around schools, especially around pick up and drop off time.
