23.01.2022 TAMWORTH POOL WATER SUPPLY INFORMATION. I am receiving many calls each day asking advice on the best way to run a pool in this drought. There seems to be a few misconceptions on Facebook and other forums about the cans and cannots of topping up pools. I will endeavor to answer as many of the common questions in this post. Tamworth Council states due to us being on level 5 water restrictions, you cannot top your pools up with the TAMWORTH town water supply. There are severa...Continue reading

23.01.2022 This is the result of restricting the flow either through the filter multi port valve or the valves that operate the Solar heating. This pipe has a substantial bulge which wasn’t far from rupturing.

22.01.2022 Sand filter implosion!.....One I discovered today on my routine pool service. The laterals inside the pool sand filter have broken sending the sand contents of the filter back into the pool. This filter will need replacing as well as the chlorinator which is failing.

22.01.2022 What a massive Winter it has been! The growth we have continuously sustained in the pool side of our business has been heart warming. We don’t have a lot of time to spend advertising and it’s word of mouth from satisfied customers that then see their friends and family contact us for pool care assistance. Thank you to all our customers for your continued support and trust you place in us to look after your pool needs from full refurbishments to the replacement of pumps, filte...rs, chlorinators and heaters. We have listened to your feedback and after a lot of research and question asking, we have found an electric pool cleaner that will catch a particle down to 50 microns. This includes that horrid red dust that pool owners have endured for the past few years with the drought. With the weather warming up, pools that have equipment that is marginal will start to show tell tale signs like cloudiness and algae growth. If you need some pool help or advice, please let me know. This is just a small snap shot of a few before and afters of the refurb and pool equipment installs we have done over the past month or so....Scotty (Licensed Pool Technician) See more

21.01.2022 RAIN DELAYS.....With this much loved and appreciated rain, we are so under the pump it is not funny. Thank you for your patience. We have a long list and are working through it. The rain days are slowing us up. It may mean you have slightly longer grass for a few more days till we get there...

20.01.2022 POOL CLEANING SOLUTIONS...... The most asked question by far this pool season is how do I get rid of the dust from my pool!" As Tamworth pool owners know only too well, we have been experiencing severe red dust storms for the past 12 months. When one comes through, it dumps a load in everyone’s pool. This dust is extremely fine. This post is not aimed at trying to sell anyone any pool cleaning equipment. I just want to give you some solutions I have found to tackle this. W...Continue reading

20.01.2022 Pool Fiberglassing.... we have been busy doing pool renovations which includes removing vinyl liners and Fiberglassing the pool. To do this we work in conjunction with Graeme and his team at Ultimate Fiberglassing and Peter Ward Tiling. One we refilled last week and one is being fibreglassed tomorrow. Both in Sapphire Blue. If you are thinking about having this done before Summer, Graeme is booked till October. Let me know and we can get things under way so your pool is ready for the upcoming swim season...

20.01.2022 Tired of trying to get your pool clear? Today I was asked at short notice to come and clear this pool as family are coming and hoping to swim this weekend. Today being Thursday things are tight!.... This result was literally 45 mins from the first photos to the rest! After a top up with rain water and professionally water tested and treated by an experienced Licensed Pool Tech it’s looking like these customers will be swimming this weekend. With a 24 hour filtration cycle, this pool will be clear........ all while being overseen by Skippy....

20.01.2022 Another pool ready for the start of the swim season today! Replaced a worn out and broken sand filter with a Cartridge filter. Full water test, balance and vacuum and good to go!....

19.01.2022 Heavily Booked!.....Thank you to all my customers for your patience these past few weeks. It has been massive and still continues to be. We are getting through as many grass cuts as we can amoungst the rain falls. I apologise to the people who have called over this time and we havent been able to help you. Over the last two days we have had 38 calls and another 24 text messages wanting grass cuts. We are a "two man band" and there is no way we can service everyone. Once again thank you for your patience. We are getting through them.

19.01.2022 A big thank you to my customers for their patience while we work through the back log of pool equipment installs. With the warmer weather here, equipment that has been struggling has reared its ugly head resulting in many pools with algae blooms. We have worked the weekend just doing installs and have made good progress in getting as much equipment installed and pools treated. We have several more installs booked for the next two weeks so rest assured we will be with you soon. Thank you again for trusting us with your pools and deciding to install quality equipment. Just a couple of before and afters of the installs we did over this weekend....

19.01.2022 A stainless steel grab rail installed today. Something to hold on to when entering and exiting your pool!

17.01.2022 Flood run off pool damage.... After the recent heavy rain, I have a number of pools that look like Chocolate Milkshakes right now. Paddocks of top soil have been washed in to their pools. I have had a number of calls asking what they need to do. In some cases the mud has settled on the floor and the pool has become clear enough to see the floor to be able to vacuum the mud out to waste. Others have needed to be Flocced. In basic terms, Floccing a pool entails adding a chemica...l which sinks the mud particles which are making the pool cloudy, to the floor of the pool. If it works, you end up with a fairly clear pool and a thick layer of mud/sludge on the floor to be vacuumed to waste. We can Flocc your pool but it involves numerous trips to your pool and the labour costs blow out pretty quickly. This is one where the owners are currently away on a Cruise and are uncontactable. They employed me to look after the pool while they are away for nearly two months. First visit and this is what I find. A chocolate milkshake pool in their back yard! A fair chunk of their back paddock washed in to the pool! I want to give you an idea on how to Flocc your pool if you want to save some money instead of getting us to do it. I tested the water and the pH was 7.5. This is to low for the Flocc chemical I use. It recommends it be around 8.2. I calculated that I needed to add 1kg of pH increaser. Dissolved it in a bucket of water and broadcast it over the pool. Left it running for 24 hours. Came back and tested it again and pH was 8.3 so close enough! This particular pool has a sand filter so you need to put the handle to recirculate. If you have a cartridge filter, remove the cartridges. Mix up the Flocc in a bucket of water and thoroughly dissolve it. Walk around and pour it around the edge of the pool. If using a different Flocc chemical, follow the instructions on the packet. Run the pump for a couple of hours and then switch the entire system off. By the next day, if it is going to work, you should have a fairly clear pool with a layer of sludge on the floor to vacuum to waste. Once you have vacuumed it, backwash your filter or clean the cartridges and test the water and balance. The photos show the pool after being flooded with mud and then 24 hours after Floccing. I will now go back and vacuum the waste off the floor...

16.01.2022 This pool had been left for 2 years through the drought. One visit for treatment and 5 days later, ready for the waste to be vacuumed off the floor....

16.01.2022 This is a concrete vinyl lined pool that we have recently worked on. The liner was leaking so we emptied the pool. Removed the liner and extrusion, high pressure cleaned and acid washed it. Peter Ward Tiling came in and did the Tile restoration work. Graeme and his team from Ultimate Fiberglassing have come in and fiberglassed the interior. Leave a week for the fiberglass to cure and it will be refilled, start up chemical added and turned on.....

15.01.2022 Handed the pool renovation over to the customer today. Refilled with Council approved water, added salt and stabiliser and a kick start of chlorine. Customer swimming tonight...

14.01.2022 Are you looking for a pool filter house? These are Australian made and owned. We try hard to support Businesses that are Australian owned and make their products in Australia too. There is a lot of international junk for the pool industry imported in to Australia. The chlorinators we sell and install are designed and made by a family owned Australian business in Queensland. I’m always cautious when trying new products as I don’t expect my customers to be the guinea pigs. The ...pumps we install are Australian made. We are yet to find a sand filter made in Australia that equals the quality of the ones we are installing. These are made in Malaysia and are a full solid fibreglass not like most others available in Australia that are a plastic tank with a thin fibreglass wrap. It is easy to see the strength in the solid tank when turning the pump on. They don’t move where as the inferior plastic tank with fibreglass wrap balloon with the pressure which often results in a split developing in the tank producing a leak. We have been extremely busy over the past couple of months selling and installing several robotic cleaners and numerous pump, filter and chlorinator combinations. With the warmer weather starting, please let us know if you need help getting your pool sorted for the coming swim season. Being independent, we can pick and choose the absolute best quality and value equipment from any supplier we choose. We are not married to one brand.....Scotty (Licensed Pool Technician) https://www.acousticbox.com.au/

14.01.2022 It never fails to surprise me the amount of calcium in our water here in Tamworth. This is the basket from an Electric cleaner after one cycle through a pool...

13.01.2022 HOT POOLS BEWARE! ...With the hot weather, you need to be monitoring your pools water temperature. It doesnt matter if you have a manual dose chlorine pool, Saltwater or Mineral pool, they still use Chlorine as the main sanitising chemical. Chlorine greatly loses its effectiveness when the water temperature hits around 34 degrees Celsius. At present the pools I care for around Tamworth who have covers on them are sitting around 36 degrees plus. Far too hot for the chlorine ...to work effectively. I am seeing covered pools with good chlorine reads going slimy. Pools with out covers are sitting around the 31 degrees at present. If you have a cover, try leaving it on through the day to help with evaporation but remove it at night to let the water cool. Put your arm in to the water as far as you can. Sometimes the water is warm for the first 100-200mm then starts to cool off. That is not too bad. I have pools that when I put my arm in as far as I can, it is still very hot. This means the entire water depth is this temperature and you will soon have problems with algae if you leave the cover on. During January and February you are likely to not be able to use your covers. Be vigilant with this. See more

13.01.2022 This is what we are dealing with day in day out at the moment. No suction or electric cleaner will remove this from your pool. Red mud! Only way to get it out of your pool is to vacuum it manually to waste. One we did today.

12.01.2022 Pool temperature alert!... today the pools I serviced that had covers on had temperatures around 34-35 degrees. This is bordering the limit of where chlorine will switch off in your pool. We don’t need more green pools! See if taking the cover off each night might allow some of the built up heat to dissipate...

12.01.2022 Xmas and New Year closure dates. First of all, thank you to my many customers who continue to support us and our business year after year. It has been a messy year for a lot of people and you still continue to put your trust in us to look after your pools and yards. Jeff and I will be working right up till Xmas Eve. We have everyday up till then heavily booked. If the weather Gods are on our side, everyone should be looked after. Even late Sunday afternoon as I type this, the... weather forecast for tomorrow is 90% chance of 40-80mm of rain. This is incredible and we will take every drop of it but it will mean that our working days will be limited going in to Xmas. I can assure you we will do everything we can to get to everyone but if this rain eventuates, we may not. It wont be for lack of trying I can assure you. The business will close at the end of the 24th December and Jeff and I will be back on deck on Jan 4th. It has been a massive record year in more ways than one and we need a break. Everyone please be safe. Have a great Xmas and New Years! I will be in town even though not officially at work and can be available for pool breakdowns like pump and chlorinator replacements if needed.... See more

12.01.2022 Equipment install update. We worked last weekend just doing pool equipment installs to try and catch up. We are nearly caught up with the remaining booked over the next 2 weeks. Thank you again for your patience. Its just the start of the pool season and there are a lot of pools with substandard equipment that is failing. We have stock arriving weekly consisting of quality Australian made Chlorinators and Pumps. Also soIid fiberglass tank sand filters. Just a couple of before and after pics with installs from the past few days.....

11.01.2022 These look like a good option for protection of your pool equipment but also allowing good air flow. Too often I see metal enclosures with pool equipment inside roasting away in the afternoon sun. Heat is not good for any electrical equipment.

09.01.2022 It’s pruning time of year! A big property cleaned up today. Don’t leave it till Spring to get yours done. We have limited vacancies available from now till August.

09.01.2022 Today we fitted a new Chlorinator to this pool and replumbed the solar heating so that it runs independently to the filtration system. A much more efficient way of doing it. How it was originally plumbed meant the filtration system had to run all day so the solar heating could work. This will be a lot easier to manage now...

09.01.2022 Rain has affected our bookings. We are a couple of days behind now. We have been installing pool equipment in the rain to make the best use of our days but the Lawn mows are backing up. We thank you for your patience.....

08.01.2022 Thank you to the team at Woods Trailers for making another great trailer! This one should be finished over the next week or so. With more and more locals wanting us to look after their pools, we need to keep our equipment updated so we can continue to offer the first class pool service we strive to do! Thank you Tamworth pool owners for trusting us with your pools...

07.01.2022 Hydrostatic Valves are often forgotten about and pool owners are sometimes not aware what they do. They are in the floor of most fiberglass and concrete pools. Their purpose is to allow pressure to be released under the pool in the event of heavy rain and flooding. Fiberglass and concrete pools risk popping out of the ground if the water pressure under them gets too high. If the water pressure does get high, the valve opens and lets the water into the pool. They are on a spri...ng action with a seal. Overtime the seals and O rings perish which can cause the pool to leak. This one is on a pool we have emptied and on inspection, the O ring has split and blown out the side. Here are a couple of photos showing what they look like and how they work. Leaking Hydrostatic Valves are not common. In 12 years of doing pools I have replaced about 5 of them. Easier to do when the pool is empty! See more

06.01.2022 This week has seen a major jump in pool water temperatures. Pools with covers on in the sun are hitting 35 degrees. At this temperature the chlorine in the pool is becoming less effective. If you have a cover on, monitor your water temp. Maybe try taking the cover off at night and have it on through the day. In a month or so, if your pool is not shaded from the afternoon sun, you will likely need to remove the cover till temps drop late in Summer.

06.01.2022 New pool Magnesium experience!!... This product is new on the market and offers an excellent alternative to other expensive Magnesium Mineral pool systems on the market. With other systems, you may need to replace your filter media or fit a larger cartridge system as well as empty 3/4 of your pool. This 5 litre product treats 50000 litres of water for 3 months. Add this twice a year over the swim season at a cost of $55 for a 5 litre container and you will benefit from the Magnesium and Potassium Mineral enriched content. No need to change any of your pool pump, filter or chlorination system. It doesnt get any easier than this to have a Magnesium mineral pool! We are now stockists of this product.

06.01.2022 One we are working on at present. Has been let go over the drought. Empty, scoop out rotting waste, high pressure clean, replace Hydrostatic valve and refill. Install new chlorinator.

06.01.2022 WINTER PRUNING....with the onset of the frosts, the lawn mows have started to slow up. As of last week, we started on our extensive list of Winter pruning jobs customers have been asking for over the past months and we havent had time to do. We have limited spots available over Winter so if there is something you may like us to do, please let me know asap so I can allocate a time over the coming months. We have also been busy installing pool equipment and we expect that may start to slow up in the near future as temperatures drop. One of the small tree removal jobs we did this morning...

05.01.2022 Three filters and two chlorinators installed over this past week. Three Tamworth pool owners who are off to a great start to the up and coming pool season. We sell and install Australian designed and made chlorinators which are compatible with all salt and mineral pools. Australian made pumps sold and installed. The sand filters we are selling and installing are made in Malaysia because they are the best we could find on the market. These are a full fibreglass filter tank not inferior thermoplastic. They really are a work of art! We can use either glass or Zeolite filter media. If you would like to get your pool system up to scratch over Winter, let me know. We are doing our best to support Australian made at every possible step of the way....

05.01.2022 This is what we deal with day after day from Tamworth water. This is calcium scooped out of a pool. Staying on top of your chemistry can help.

04.01.2022 COVID-19 business update. At present we are operating as normal while practising good health and hygiene procedures. It is not often we actually come in contact with a customer as normally most are at work. With a lot of people self isolating, they are at home when we get there. If we do come face to face with you we will keep our distance as required and we hand sanitise before and after each job. We are available to come to your pool if you dont want to go in to town to have your water tested. We are still also mowing lawns and after Easter we will be taking bookings for Winter pruning and yard tidy's. We have had a very busy last few months with the rain and thank all our customers for your patience while we battled to tame the lawns and keep everyone's pools healthy....

02.01.2022 If it’s not Snakes it’s Peacocks!...

02.01.2022 With the assistance of PK's Pool Care, we were able to locate a partial blockage and a cracked suction pipe today in a pool. Pat has a camera he can feed up the pipe and have a good look at what’s going on. Better than X-ray eyes!

01.01.2022 What a roller coaster ride! We have been extremely busy installing chlorinators and filters over the past few weeks with more booked for the next 2 weeks. With the warmer weather, problem equipment is raring its ugly head! Its been a weird Summer with it being a lot cooler than it normally would be.
