19.01.2022 What have you watching while we are in lockdown? Be inspired by a Patagonia film, find a quiet spot, pop it on and be in awe: Stone Locals: Climbing has always been more than just a sport. It’s provided a way of life and a makeshift family to misfits who share a calling. As the sport grapples with its growing popularity, the people who anchor its core and community have more responsibility than ever. This film tells the stories of five of these anchors, the Stone Locals who keep the soul of climbing and nurture it as the sport evolves.

16.01.2022 Time to get outdoors and have fun with the kids. SA Rocks is a Facebook page that promotes a painted rock treasure hunt to get children outside exploring with their parents. If you have children that would love this, have a look at their Facebook page. A great fun idea of craft and outdoor play for the school holidays. There is certainly some rules and to where they can be placed and who can join the group but a great supervised activity for nana and pa with the grandkids, for little children with mum and dad or even a Scouts group. So get your paint brushes out, dust off your boots and get out there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/SARocks

Whenever you notice a change, no matter how small, trust your gut and start a conversation. #RUOK

15.01.2022 One of our favourite lines in this story and so true to so many of us "Spread your wings and wiggle the evolutionary remnants of your tail, for the wilderness is within us, and that is to be celebrated".

13.01.2022 Don’t forget it’s National Recycling week, what’s one little thing you can do that will make a difference. Even if it’s going through the shed, the house or looking around the yard for any scrap metal laying around, instead of putting it in the bin, recycle at one of the Scout Recycling Depots. Help the environment and the Scouts by recycling.

04.01.2022 Ryan is our newest team member and has just moved to Adelaide from a lifetime of national parks in Central Australia. Ryan has kindly written a little blurb on himself, and what a write up it is: Rock climbing is my gig, I’ve been doing it for nearly a decade and in that time I’ve been pretty fortunate to have some cool experiences. I used to be into competitions, I’ve won state titles and competed internationally, and in 2016 I was the top ranked junior male climber in Aus...tralia. These days I’m more into the outdoors side of things. I love climbing in any and every style all across Australia, from trad at Moonarie to sport climbing in the Blue Mountains, and I’ve been lucky enough to put up multiple hard first ascents in Central Australia. Beyond that, I love everything about the outdoors and I’m super excited to have this opportunity to work at the Scout Outdoor Centre and be able to share my passion with other like-minded people. You can catch me in the store or out at the cliffs! Be sure to come in to say hi to Ryan!

03.01.2022 With summer approaching another piece of kit you need for your hiking bag apart from sunscreen and a hat is a Coghlan Cooling Scarf. The scarf will relieve your heat during and after a hike, bike ride or even a big kayaking session. People also use the scarf when working, for cooling sunburn, for elderly people that feel the heat, relief after the beach, hot nights when you can't sleep and even hot flushes. Its amazing how something so simple helps so many.
