06.01.2022 SCPS PhD candidate Julia Voelker, and supervisor Dr. Mervyn Shepherd recently published an article about the genetic diversity in a third-generation breeding population of Melaleuca alternifolia (Australian tea tree). They compared diversity levels in the breeding population to natural populations and studied which impact the deployment of clones would have on genetic diversity. This study helps to inform current and future breeding practices of tea tree, so that we can all continue to enjoy the benefits of Australian tea tree oil.
