23.01.2022 Is it quiet work-wise this time of year? Perhaps you have time to write something about editing - article, anecdote, award, news, joke, etc. The next eNews will be out in February. The unconfirmed deadline is Friday 19 February. Send your eNews contribution to [email protected].
23.01.2022 ? . ? The Screen Industry is facing a rocky road ahead due to the COVID-19 crisis. Many are ineligible for the JobKeeper allowance, and the suspension of local content quotas for drama, documentary and childrens programming will affect production further. .... https://australianscreeneditors.wufoo.com//z1q7sud70ujsx2x/ Your response will enable us to be more informed as we lobby government, along with the other screen guilds, for better support. We expect that for many, the effects on post production will last longer than other sectors. We will also use the information to provide events and resources that will be useful for you at this time and to keep you in touch with fellow screen practitioners. Thank you, we look forward to your response.
22.01.2022 LOCKDOWN LETTER No 4 from Roberta Horslie ASE Friday 13th March 2020, the timeline changes. Standing by a river, rowers breathing hard. They worked hard to be here, rain was threatening, just missed her race, no one was willing to say out loud what we thought may happen. Saying it meant it would happen. The PA changed it all weekend is cancelled due to government announcement The rain and tears poured.... I quietly helped pack up with a dad I had never met, he was seasoned of this event, but not for this moment. I had just finished a big Vic Health job, barely on air, pulled, 2 or more women exercising in frame was not to happen. How long? Deflated. EverythingCancelled. A dead stop. I couldnt imagine the edit to this timelinea few weeks later I felt a strange relief. I was doing nothing, no pressures glaring from my diary. No FOMO, everyone was missing out. Breathing relaxed, focus on my child, garden - peaceful, cooking again, more reading and sleep. I can finish that edit on the web series I donate my time for. Edit suite now at home. Phone rings. A 10 year project had received private investment moneyin studio mid June, Im not normally on set, rules of the space, 1.5 meters if you can pleasehand sanitiser, temperature check. I had work, my husband lost his. Swapping out the tea towel & moving office space in the house for the 3rd time. The teen is loving being on her own too much. It worries us. No one I know has been sick from Covid19 but Im 3 degrees from a colleagues mum who passed from it a month ago, not far from my house. Lock Town. The web series gets funded to shoot in Sydney, I will edit in December, I have something to look forward to. The future timeline will keep changing, thats a definite. Thank you to all our members who have contributed so far to ASE Victoria Lockdown Letters. We are proud to share the first installment from our community. Please keep them coming, they can be written, photograph, video or combined which ever artistic voice youve found during these tough times. We ask that statements be no more than 200 words and any records under five minutes. Please send your stories to [email protected]
