24.01.2022 SCRgroup appeared on Channel 7 Sunrise this morning to talk about the unprecedented rise in illegal dumping around clothing bins and infront of charity shops since COVID19 restrictions were enforced in March 2020. The restrictions saw the closure of most landfills across Australia, giving residents no options to dispose of their unwanted waste. SCRgroup only accepts clothes, shoes and handbags at their clothing bins. If clothing bins are full, call our hotline and wait until they have been serviced to drop-off your clothes. For larger items, contact your local council or hold onto your waste until restrictions are lifted and you can visit your local tip. #covid19

21.01.2022 $500 reward for information that leads to the successful prosecution of these brazen offenders. At approximately 9:30pm on Tuesday 14 April 2020 at Roxburgh Park Homestead Centre in Ravenhill Boulevard Victoria, 2 men illegally dumped a commercial load of mattresses and broken furniture, and are seen taking a photo of it. If members of the public can provide to us any information that will lead to the successful prosecution of these offenders (such as registration number plat...es), we will be rewarding you with $500. Help us put an end to illegal dumping and share this to as many community groups as possible and tag your friends. We need to share this message! SCRgroup has installed hidden surveillance cameras at most clothing hub sites around the country. For those that think they will get away with these appalling acts, you are being watched, you will be caught and fined up to in excess of $6,000. For the members of the public that do the right thing by only dropping off items we state as acceptable (Clothing, Shoes and Handbags) and not leaving anything besides our clothing hubs, thank you!

19.01.2022 Upcycling is one of our favourite things to do with preloved clothes here at SCRgroup. Upcycling is turning something old, into something else that is of equal or greater value - and this incredible story below is one example of just that! Have you got other upcycling ideas you would love to share? Send them to us and we'll post them on our page! #upcycle #sustainability #clothes

18.01.2022 Tomorrow SCRgroup will be at Lilydale Marketplace with Mondo! If you’re looking for something fun and educational to do these school holidays, be sure to visit the centre between 10am 3pm. We will be running story time sessions, making mini-Mondo’s out of play dough and other activities. We are also selling our Friends Of Our World storybook, that teaches children about the importance of clothing reuse and recycling and donating 100% of the proceeds to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. Lilydale Shopping Centre will be matching all sales made on the day and donating an additional $5,000. We can’t wait to see you and raise much needed funds for our country!

17.01.2022 Hello HomeCo! We're excited to announce that SCRgroup clothing drop-off hubs are now conveniently located at your local HomeCo Centre (or will be soon!) across Australia. Next time you're visiting your favourite retailers at HomeCo, bring a bag of preloved clothing to drop-off. We'll give them a second life where they are needed most, locally or globally, and divert 100% from landfill.

16.01.2022 If you're cleaning out your homes during COVID19 self-isolation, here are some handy upcycling ideas you can do with everyday household items you're thinking of throwing away. Alexis showed Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Sarah Harris on Studio 10 how to turn old toys into plant holders and tea cups into bird feeders! Check out the segment on Studio 10 here. If you're upcycling at home, we would love to see your creations. Please post them to Facebook or Instagram and tag us!

13.01.2022 COVID-19 Important Update. SCRgroup clothing drop-off hubs and our 24 hour call centre hotline remain open. We are experiencing higher volumes of collections at some sites, so if you see hubs are full we are asking the community to please call our hotline on 1300 687 261 and come back later. We accept CLOTHING, SHOES AND HANDBAGS ONLY and we ask the public that they do not dump anything next to our hubs including hard waste items. This is illegal and councils as well as polic...e will be and have been fining residents caught illegally dumping. If you see anyone illegally dumping, you can report them to your local EPA, or you can take a picture of them illegally dumping and record their number plate details to submit to police. We thank the public that have been reporting illegal dumpers to us. If you have larger household items you would like to reuse or recycle, contact your local council for advice. SCRgroup are also complying to the Department of Health's protocols and have increased cleaning at all clothing hubs across Australia with each service for the safety of our drivers and for the public. If you are dropping off your clothes, please make sure your clothes are clean and have been washed. Please disinfect your hands before and after you drop off your clothes and a measure of self-caution. If you have any questions, or would like to alert us of a site near you that's overflowing or experiencing dumping, call our hotline 1300 687 261 or contact us through social media. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates. #covid19 #clothes #sustainability #clothingreuse #CoronavirusAustralia #TogetherAtHome #QuarantineAndChill

12.01.2022 The National Association of Charitable Recycling Organisations (NACRO) CEO Omer Soker has shared tips on how to responsibly donate to charity stores and clothing hubs that are still operating during the COVID19 pandemic. As an Associate Member and supporter of NACRO, we urge Australians to help our charities during this challenging time and not to leave anything in front of charity stores or besides clothing hubs even if they are good quality. Please follow the below advice...: If your favourite charity shop is closed, please don’t leave your donations outside as they will become litter, which creates a huge cost to charities to clean it up. Please find a charity shop that is still safely managing to stay open, or a donation bin in your neighbourhood. Please don’t leave any items outside donation bins that are full. These can’t be used and also become litter. The charity then has to pay a waste contractor to remove the waste, which means every donation left outside is one less meal for a homeless man ... one less counselling session for a depressed or anxious teenager ... or one less support for a mum facing domestic abuse. If you can’t leave your home and must stay inside, please save up your quality donations for later. Some charity shops are still open. If you can still donate, please deliver your donations in-store or put them inside a donation bin, sort your items for quality and don’t donate anything you wouldn’t otherwise give to a friend.

09.01.2022 If you have jeans you wish to donate, please think of Melbourne local business TreeKid, who upcycles old denim into kidswear. We love seeing and supporting local businesses supporting our circular economy and helping us divert textiles from landfill. Every little bit counts! Check out TreeKid's website at www.treekid.com.au

06.01.2022 Our very own Alexis appeared on Studio 10 yesterday, Thursday 5 April, to talk about clever household hacks, and how easy it is to upcycle everyday items you might have lying around the house. With over 20 million tonnes of waste going into Australian landfills each year, upcycling is a way to reduce what we're throwing in the bin, minimising our environmental impact and saving us money!

06.01.2022 SCRgroup is pleading with the public to stop dumping their hard waste and rubbish at clothing bins around the country, as landfills close due to COVID19 restrictions. This week we have appeared in the Herald Sun's Whittlesea Leader, on 3AW and on Friday we will be appearing on Channel 7's morning and evening news. We are now resorting to extreme measures like installing surveillance cameras at most sites and hiring undercover security guards. For those that think they will ge...t away with it, chances are you are being watched, you will get caught and you will be fined up to in excess of $6,000. Only clothes, shoes and handbags are accepted at clothing hubs. Please do not leave anything besides the clothing hubs, even if you think it's in good enough condition for reuse. For all other items, contact your local Council. It is Council's responsibility to provide its residents with effective and convenient waste disposal facilities. Some Council's are still providing FREE hard waste collection services, and for those that aren't, we are asking the public to please hold onto any hard waste until the COVID19 restrictions are lifted. Please share this important message in your community groups!
