06.01.2022 We hate to be those people (AGAIN), but 1 month to go. Our #script_tip when buying a skincare Christmas gift? Don't base it on what you love or what's worked for you. Remember that your skin profile is completely different to the person's you are buying for, product selection needs to be personalised, and a gift card allows just this! Visit South Yarra or Doncaster stores to purchase.

06.01.2022 Ingredient lesson from our dermatologist @assocprofgoodman. Liquorice / licorice "Liquorice extract is a common ingredient found in products designed to target the skin concern pigmentation, it falls into a group of productions called pigment blockers AKA tyrosinase inhibitors (that's a lesson for another day). It is also used as a skin brightening ingredient and in eye products to reduce the appearance of dark circles. Because of its antioxidant and anti-inflamma...tory properties, liquorice offers a great ‘safe’ alternative when treating these concerns, especially for those that are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a level of sensitivity. Tune in tomorrow to see 3 exceptional products that contain liquorice. See more

04.01.2022 Ingredient lesson from our dermatologist @assoc.profgoodman. While on the topic of exfoliation (scroll back one post to see an exfoliating treatment) we thought we'd ask our derm to explain Alpha Hydroxy Acids. "Alpha Hydroxy Acid is an umbrella term for a group of naturally occurring acids that are found in many foods. AHAs are often described as ‘chemical exfoliants’, as they can be used to promote cellular turnover and buff back the skin in a more natural way th...an a manual exfoliant (e.g scrub). They do this by decreasing the glue-like substance that holds skin cells together, allowing them to shed, this process helps the top layer of the skin stay optimally thin and pliable. They have been called plasticisers as they make the skin more flexible and able to give with movement. If skin is pliable it is less likely to wrinkle. Some AHAs also have the ability to draw water back into the skin, so are a type of ‘humectant’, which is why you may find them in your moisturiser. AHAs can also be used in products to help other active ingredients to penetrate better and increase results. These fascinating substances can be used in low concentrations to moisturise dry, thickened skin, and in higher concentrations they can be used to reverse wrinkling. While appropriate for improving many skin concerns because of their ability to improve barrier function and cellular turnover, AHAs particularly benefit: Acne Anti-ageing Pores Thickened, dry, sun damaged skin Wrinkles Specific AHAs you might find listed on your skincare product's ingredient list: Citric acid - derived from citrus Glycolic acid - derived from sugar cane Lactic acid derived from sour milk (yoghurt) and mangoes. Mandelic acid derived from almonds.
