24.01.2022 Hello everybody I’m Trinny, and if you’re looking for a smart and affectionate girl then look no further! I’m a 20-week-old Kelpie Cross from the APY Lands, who is loving life with my foster family - but I’m now ready to find my forever home.... I have been hanging out with my foster dog brother and sister, which has been so awesome. I’ve also enjoyed spending time with my foster cat family, including foster kittens. Sometimes I play tricks on them by stealing their toys when they’re not looking! It’s so funny! Didn’t I mention I was a smart girl? I’m picking up training super fast but it helps when my foster family gives me yummy treats. Give me food and I’m learn anything! I love big adventures and walks. I’ve already been to a dog park which was an interesting experience. I was a bit unsure at first but after a bit I was OK and enjoyed meeting other dogs. I’ve been in the car too, which was no problem. Between me and you, I think my harness is the best thing that’s ever been invented! I like to multi-task on walks sometimes I take my big foster dog brother for a walk by grabbing his lead and pulling him around. After our big adventures there’s nothing better than cuddles on the couch at night time. But I’m also an independent girl who doesn’t mind having a bit of me time on my own. My perfect family would have older children, because sometimes I can get excited and be a little jumpy at first. But with some obedience training, we can work through this together, right? 23.01.2022 Are there any mobile dog washers out there who could help us out with two lads new to rescue in the Morphett Vale area? We have a bonded pair of German Shepherds in desperate need of a bath & blow out of undercoat. Their carer is doing their best to brush them, but these guys have been neglected for some time. It is a big ask, we know, but these young gents would be ever so grateful.

23.01.2022 We’d like to welcome Marley and Marla to the scruffer lovers family. These two golden oldies are a bonded pair as they have been together all their lives and would love to live out their retirement together. These two came into the care of the rspca in pretty bad shape and needed lots of tlc. In a team effort they are now in our care and living their best lives. Marley is 11 years young and still full of zest and spunk. He is a quirky bundle of fun, loves a good chat and to r...oll around in the sun. He does a great job of looking after the love of his life Marla. Marley doesn’t mind other dogs but is not a fan of cats. Marla is 14 years young and is loving life. Marla is a special girl as she is completely blind, but you wouldn’t know it as she doesn’t let that hold her back. She is quick to learn her environment and navigate using her sense of smell and sound. She can find her favourite humans (and of course Marley) from anywhere. We were also very lucky to be gifted a Muffins Halo for her, which gives her more confidence in new environments. Both these beautiful pups would love a home to live out their golden years and anyone lucky enough to have them as part of the family will be rewarded with all the love and cuddles they could want. 20.01.2022 Hiya, I’m Zelda and I am READY for the rest of my life! I am not only beautiful outside, I am also very lovely inside. I have met horses, cats, and kids and had no issues pretty easy going hey?! I love a good walk but my favourite thing is to laze about. I would love to be an only dog so I can get aaaall the love and attention, but I do get along with dogs so play dates are a big yes! Don’t worry though, I will more than make up from the extra love you think a second dog mi...ght bring, I’m big on cuddles. If you do have a male dog already, I could probably still settle in ok not a deal breaker! Let’s see, what else? I walk quite well in my harness, my 13yo human foster brother has been walking me and he seems pretty happy with me. I would really love a home where I can be allowed inside and outside, so I can be with you when you’re home I do think I deserve to be a fully fledged family member after all. I know I’m stating the obvious, but I do have a lot of hair naturally there is some maintenance in this, but to be honest being brushed is not my favourite activity. I will tolerate it, but if we can find a way for us both to enjoy this maybe it could be a good bonding experience? I’m not big on swimming either, I’m just not a big fan of water although I will accept a bath so that’s nothing to worry about. You know what I do love? I love a good chat. Not in a nuisance kind of way, but if you start the conversation or I hear a siren!! I will throw back a few woowoo’s in reply. 16.01.2022 Hi, I’m Remi and I am so proud to be Scruffer Lovers’ first pet of the month. I am on the lookout for my forever home, I hope it can be you! I’ll be honest. I’ve had a terrible start in life. For the first six years I was confined outside in nothing more than a chicken coop, but my life changed for the better thanks to a wonderful lady called Ruth who helped me out of that situation and Tiny Tails who started me on my rescue journey. For the last two months I have been wit...h Scruffer Lovers hanging out with an awesome foster carer. I’m a seven-year-old Staffy-cross who is such a quick learner. I am a little fearful of new people at first, but once I get to know you, we can be pals for life. I love, love, love food and I’m good on walks. I’d be best suited in a home with no children and no dogs but I don’t mind cats, and I’m currently living with one. I am so ready for a new start at a permanent home that I can call my home. 14.01.2022 **Foster Carer Needed** Hey I’m Lucy, I’m a long girl looking for a foster fam to take me in until I can find my forever home. I do need to be the only pet (no other dogs, cats, or pocket pets), which is always a tricky spot a lot of Scruffers’ dedicated regular foster carers, being animal lovers, already have pets of their own. I bet they’re lovely homes but they’re just not for me right now! I like to bark at dogs at dogs who are behind my fence so a home with no dogs on ...the other side is a must for me. Other than that, you’ll find I’m a very relaxed girl. I just love to hang out really! I love kids, love life, and really just love being with people. I am still quite young (only 3 years!) so I can be pretty bouncy occasionally if I get excited, but nothing to worry about for sure. 13.01.2022 Hallo, Obee here! Just my big happy self, here to tell you all about me so I can find my new home. I’ve actually been with my family for a while they were hoping to be my forever family since they love me so very much but sadly I make my mum feel unwell. Still, just goes to show what a special guy I am, hey?! My mum describes me as a playful comedian, but she wants me to find the best home possible so I’ll try be serious here. First let’s talk training don’t worry, I have... some. I’m crate trained, toilet trained, I have good recall, and all those fun basics like sit and stay actually I’ve done TWO basic obedience training programs at home, training is a great way to bond so I wouldn’t mind if we did some more in my forever home. I’m good in the car too, so please do feel free to take me on adventures. I do need some more leash training, as I get quite excited. I also tend to pull towards and bark at other dogs and people. Don’t worry, I am NOT aggressive! I just SO want to make friends and I haven’t learned yet how to be calm about it. Ok what’s next? How about future family members: Kiddos are a-okay with me, I am a great family dog. I currently live with a 3yo and 5yo and we get along swell despite my size. I can’t be rehomed with cats or pocket pets, we don’t get along. Other dogs are JUST fine in fact I think I’d like having another doggo friend. It would also be great if you’re home a whole bunch as I really love company so much so that it’s really important I’m allowed inside with you when you’re around, please don’t leave me stranded outside alone! I also need plenty of exercise, same as any dog. A daily walk would be just the best, so many things to sniff! It will give us a chance to keep practicing my lead manners anyway ?? PLAY: I love a good play, toys are SO fun especially balls, I hope you will play with me and my toys! I am still quite young, and can be quite excitable and definitely a playful fella. Otherwise, I love cuddles (lots of cuddles), and FOOD of course! I think that’s all of the facts, as for my soul I think that’s pretty clear just from looking in my eyes! 04.01.2022 Hi everyone I’m King! King Pin/ King of the Castle! Despite my name I’m probably the sookiest monarch you’ll ever know. I just love to be around people and am a big boof head. Before I came into Scruffer lovers I was at the RSPCA for a while and all the volunteers loved me! They couldn’t work out why I wasn’t adopted and being in the shelter environment was a bit overwhelming for me.... In my foster home my carers say I’ve been an absolute delight and a big cuddle buddy! It’s nice and quiet here and I love just relaxing and spending time with humans. I do love an adventure too! I walk well on the lead with my harness but need to be walked at quiet times as although I do seem to like other dogs and want to say hello, when I can’t do that, I will get a bit excited and express this with my big booming bark! This is why I also make a good guard dog but as soon as someone new comes into the house I just want their love and affection. I think it would be best for me to be in a house where I can’t see through to the street. I may need to be in an only dog home to start with as I don’t realise my size and other dogs may feel intimidated by this. I have a tip top record with cats though. I’m trained with my basics. I just want to please everyone so will follow your lead pretty much every time! I have been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and am not currently on medication as it seems to have gone smoothly. Sometimes I may have a bit of a funny waddle but I haven’t expressed that I’m in any pain and this doesn’t stop me from exploring the great outdoors! This may however, cause problems later on down the track. 02.01.2022 *Callout for transport help* We have 10 dogs/puppies coming in from the APYL in the coming weeks. We will be flying 3 pups over first as they have some urgent medical needs. We are seeking help to transport the rest as it’s quit costly to fly them here.... If anyone knows of anyone driving from Alice Springs to Adelaide or somewhere near Adelaide that can help with transport please get in touch with the rescue. The pups and dogs will be in quarantine until then and will be vaccinated and microchipped. We are also looking for foster carers for these incoming dogs.
