24.01.2022 Take your 4X4 to Tasmania FOR FREE! Free 4X4 travel on the Spirit of Tasmania between 1 March 2021 and 30 June 2021. That’s right! Free 4X4 travel to Tasmania! In a move set to increase Tasmanian tourism, the Bass Strait Passenger Vehicle Equalisation Scheme is... being expanded to allow for passengers to travel with their vehicle free-ofcharge on the Spirit of Tasmania. This expansion will be for travel between 1 March 2021 and 30 June 2021. The four-month period will apply to travel in both directions; from Melbourne to Devonport and returning from Devonport to Melbourne. The expansion of the scheme has come from the Federal Government. While this expansion of the scheme will not cover the cost of a caravan, camper or motorhome heading over to Tasmania, it will however still apply, thus those towing or in motorhomes can still take advantage of the free travel opportunity on the Spirit of Tasmania. The free travel opportunity will end on 30 June, or after $6 million has been spent; whichever comes first. See more

23.01.2022 On Monday this week the Victorian Government provided the new conditions for Stage 4 coronavirus restrictions. The new conditions primarily affect metropolitan VACC members whose post code is encapsulated in the Stage 4 boundaries. The new conditions enable a number of restricted automotive activities to continue and these are outlined in the recent bulletin provided by VACC on 4 August. The new conditions are by nature not granular and consequently there is some degree of in...terpretation that needs to be made to certain parts of the conditions. Given this, it is VACC’s opinion that the conditions allow for the regular log book or scheduled servicing of vehicles, including passenger vehicles. This assessment is based on an allowance in the conditions permitting the provision of services that maintain the health and safety of Victorians, at home or at work. It is VACC’s view that the proper servicing of vehicles is crucial to the safety and operability of a motor vehicle which in turn provides the required safety for Victorians traveling to work or in their local communities.

23.01.2022 A recent landmark study into brake testing methods has shown without question that SafeTstop detects brake faults precisely, far ahead of other test methods. A vehicle was modified to allow exact adjustment of brake pressure to individual wheels, with sensors to validate those adjustments. Ten different adjustments were made, chosen to imitate the effects of common brake faults. SafeTstop found and measured these reductions every time, in repeated tests. So for your peace of mind why not drop in to SCS 4WD Centre and have you Brakes tested? 9587 3088

22.01.2022 Urgent Advice Dear member/Customer SCS 4WD Centre is to inform you that Stage 4 restrictions pertaining to logbook and scheduled vehicle servicing have been eased after a long and collaborative discussion with the Victorian Government.... What is the issue? Under the Victorian Government’s Stage 4 restrictions, which came into effect on 2 August, routine maintenance was not a permitted activity unless it was deemed to be critical. Following extensive lobbying from VACC, these rules were relaxed on 25 August to allow vehicle servicing to be undertaken while a vehicle presented for urgent repairs. What action has VACC taken? VACC recently wrote to all Labor and Independent MPs advising that restricting general vehicle servicing would inadvertently place Victorians at risk. Specifically, concerns were raised about a vehicle’s safety condition due to a lack of professional oversight. Constructive meetings were held with the Department of Jobs, Regions and Precincts where VACC proposed an automotive-specific COVIDSafe Plan in a bid to reopen automotive workshops. What has been the Government response? In response, VACC has been informed by the Victorian Government that: Routine maintenance (i.e. logbook or scheduled maintenance) is permitted as a standalone service for safety purposes only, including for repairs and product recalls. Under the current guidance, automotive, and maintenance are permitted to operate: where service providers are providing support to a permitted service or industry or where it is required to maintain the health and safety of Victorians at home or at work (e.g. routine maintenance, vehicle repairs and critical maintenance including disinfection). What is VACC’s interpretation of the Government’s latest response? I. any vehicle, be it for a permitted industry or a member of the public can have a routine service or scheduled service performed on their vehicle; II. this amendment is active from 16 September 2020. Other SCS 4WD Centre can ensure that a COVID-19 Safe Plan based on the six principles outlined below has been activated and that all other COVID-19 social distancing and contactless business measures are adhered to. Six COVID Safe Principles Physical distancing Wearing of face masks Practising good hygiene Keeping of records and acting quickly if staff become unwell Avoiding enclosed spaces Creating workforce bubbles (where applicable). Based on the Stay at home Directions and Roadmap, the 5km travel rule will likely stay until at least 26 October. We will keep you informed if there are any further changes to the Victorian Government’s COVID-19 business restrictions. Finally, I thank you all for supporting SCS 4WD Centre through this time. Take care and be Safe

20.01.2022 Dear Customer Please be advised that the advice and legislation quoted below allows for you to visit our non-restricted retail operation Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (Vic), Section 20, Clause 6 (1) (Viii) ‘Leaving premises to obtain necessary goods and services’ where it states that a person can leave a premises to obtain goods and services provided by:... (viii) a retail facility that is not prohibited from operating by the Restricted Activity Directions. Further, our industry body, the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) has also forwarded urgent correspondence stating industry concern regarding the confused messaging from Victoria Police to the Office of the Minister for Police, The Hon Lisa Neville MP. VACC has been provided with advice back from the Office of the Minister for Police that states: ‘VACC is correct in that the automotive trade is not being prohibited from work or opening, so staff can work, and customers engage as appropriate and consistent with the CHO requirements around density quotients and physical distancing. Accordingly, the Office of the Minister for Police has provided VACC's correspondence to the Chief Commissioner’s office to ensure it informs the ongoing messaging to police members during this time. In addition, police officers are not meant to be stopping people from travelling for work or restricting trade of businesses that can and should remain open as long as they are maintaining density quotients and physical distancing’. If you have been ordered to not visit our premises by a law enforcement or other government appointed representative we ask that you take the details of that office, person etc for VACC to pursue. Automotive retail is not mandated as a restricted or prohibited business by the Victorian Chief Health Officer. Our business practices appropriate CIVID-19 density and sanitisation requirements. Yours sincerely Jeff Hazzledine SCS 4WD Centre
