20.01.2022 A good nights sleep is an important study strategy; naps have their place, too. Recharge your batteries by keeping a good sleep routine and sensible bedtime. (Did you know that studying past 10 pm is generally not recommended?)
20.01.2022 One question we have been asked a lot this year is: why cant I use gel or erasable pens? The answer is that ink from these pens can be compromised by heat. You should never use any gel or erasable pens in your written exams. And, if you are using a pencil, make sure it is a dark colour.

19.01.2022 Students enrolled in a Year 12 ATAR course can now access their personalised examination timetables for the practical and written ATAR course examinations in the student portal: https://studentportal.scsa.wa.edu.au. You will need your student number and password to log in to the student portal. For the purposes of contingency planning for the examinations, it is important to check your personalised examination timetable regularly and each day before the scheduled examination time, as any updated details relating to your examinations will appear on your timetable.

18.01.2022 Part I of the Year 12 Information Handbook is now available on our website at https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/publications/year-12-information. If you're enrolled in Year 12 courses, you should read the handbook and refer to it when you have questions about your enrolment, the WACE and the WASSA. You should also visit the student website and portal to check your details and enrolments. Part I is for all students enrolled in Year 12. Part II will be published in July and will have an examinations focus to provide information specifically for students enrolled in Year 12 ATAR courses.
18.01.2022 We are monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation and working with the State government, Department of Education, Catholic Education Western Australia and Association of Independent Schools Western Australia to support schools, teachers and students. We understand you might have questions about assessment and the WACE. We have provided advice to schools about assessment of students in Years 11 and 12 that you can read at scsa.wa.edu.au. We will be providing regular advice to schools as the situation evolves. At this stage, we are continuing to work towards the scheduled ATAR course examination period for 2020.
17.01.2022 We have some important information for students sitting the practical and written 2020 ATAR course examinations conducted by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). This year, for the first time, the Authority will be collecting Year 12 students and other examination candidates mobile phone numbers via the student portal: https://studentportal.scsa.wa.edu.au/. If we need to contact students urgently, this will be done via group SMS. While not compulsory, we encourage all Year 12s and examination candidates to log in to the portal and enter your mobile contact number.

03.01.2022 If you are a Year 11 student, you have an additional option to achieve your WACE in 2021. This additional option will allow you to complete five General courses when you are in Year 12 (or a combination of General and up to three ATAR courses) to achieve your WACE, if you choose not to undertake four ATAR courses or a Certificate II or higher VET qualification. You can also achieve your WACE by studying four ATAR courses in Year 12 or completing a Certificate II or higher VE...T qualification in combination with ATAR, General or Foundation courses (in addition to the other WACE requirements). The WACE requirements for 2021 can be found on the Authority website at https://senior-secondary.scsa.wa.edu.au/t/wace-requirements. To assist you to check on your progress towards meeting the WACE requirements in 2021, the Authority has developed a WACE Checker. You will find the Checker, and more information on how to use it, on the Authority website at https://wacechecker2021.scsa.wa.edu.au/. If you have any concerns about your progress towards meeting the requirements for the WACE after entering your information, you should follow up with the support staff at your school.
