24.01.2022 We have some important information for students sitting the practical and written 2020 ATAR course examinations conducted by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). This year, for the first time, the Authority will be collecting Year 12 students and other examination candidates mobile phone numbers via the student portal: https://studentportal.scsa.wa.edu.au/. If we need to contact students urgently, this will be done via group SMS. While not compulsory, we encourage all Year 12s and examination candidates to log in to the portal and enter your mobile contact number.

24.01.2022 Welcome to this weeks Activities Schedule reminders. On Tuesday, 4 February school/provider contact information needs to be completed in SIRS and completed declaration forms for WACE courses and VET and endorsed programs are due to be received by the Authority. On Thursday, 6 February 2020 course offerings and estimated enrolments in courses (including VET industry specific course units) for Year 11 and Year 12 students (via OFCOS file) are due for upload into SIRS. Note: once schools have uploaded their course offerings, they are able to verify them in SIRS. Also on Thursday, 6 February, schools/providers will receive application forms for special examination arrangements for ATAR course examination candidates with a disability. Friday, 7 February is the last date for the Authority to receive completed OLNA declaration forms.

23.01.2022 Year 11 students have an additional option to achieve the WACE in 2021. This additional option will allow students to complete five General courses when in Year 12 (or a combination of General and up to three ATAR courses) to achieve the WACE, if students choose not to undertake four ATAR courses or a Certificate II or higher VET qualification. Students can also achieve the WACE by studying four ATAR courses in Year 12 or completing a Certificate II or higher VET qualificati...on in combination with ATAR, General or Foundation courses (in addition to the other WACE requirements). The WACE requirements for 2021 can be found on the Authority website at https://senior-secondary.scsa.wa.edu.au/t/wace-requirements. To assist students to check on their progress towards meeting the WACE requirements in 2021, the Authority has developed a WACE Checker. The Checker, and more information on how to use it, is available on the Authority website at https://wacechecker2021.scsa.wa.edu.au/.

20.01.2022 We are monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation and working with the State government, Department of Education, Catholic Education Western Australia and Association of Independent Schools Western Australia to support schools, teachers and students. We understand you might have questions about assessment and the WACE. We have provided advice to schools about assessment of students in Years 11 and 12 that you can read at www.scsa.wa.edu.au. We will be providing regular advice to schools as the situation evolves. At this stage, we are continuing to work towards the scheduled ATAR course examination period for 2020.

Monday, 10 August is the last date to upload withdrawal of enrolment from ATAR courses without a practical examination component for Year 12 students (via ENCOS file) and withdrawal of enrolment from General, Foundation, Preliminary and VET industry specific courses for Year 12 students (via ENCOS file) into SIRS. Wednesday, 12 August is the last date to upload updated 2020 registration and demographic information for Yea...r 1012 students (required for the Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment attendance registers and password generation) (via SRGDG file) into SIRS. Thursday, 13 August is the last date for the Authority to receive new or updated requests from schools for adjustments (relating to disability and EAL/D) to students tests for the September round of the OLNA (details are to be entered into the OLNA dashboard) and final changes for enrolments in VET industry specific course units for Year 11 students (via ENCOS file). Also on Thursday, 13 August, enrolments in VET units of competency for Year 10 and Year 11 students (via ENVET file) and enrolments in endorsed programs for Year 1012 students (via ENEND file) are due to be uploaded into SIRS. Note: does not apply to VET industry specific courses or Preliminary course units. Also on Friday, 7 August, Media Production and Analysis ATAR course practical production examination data collection and collaborative forms (where applicable only) will be available to schools/providers in SIRS.

On Friday, 20 March, practical examination requirements for ATAR courses that have a practical component will be available to schools/providers on the Authority website. It is also the last date for the Authority to receive online appeals against EAL/D eligibility decisions for students who submitted an application prior to, and including, Monday, 17 February.

It is also the last date for the Authority to receive changes to Visual Arts artwork categories. On Tuesday, 18 August, confirmation of 2020 ATAR course written examination accommodation arrangements will be available to schools/providers in SIRS. Friday, 21 August is the last date for the Authority to receive completed Media Production and Analysis ATAR course practical production examination data collection and collaborative forms (where applicable only).

17.01.2022 Welcome to this weeks Activities Schedule reminders. On Tuesday, 15 September, schools/providers will receive practical ATAR course examination submission information for Design, Materials Design and Technology, Media Production and Analysis, Music and Visual Arts.

17.01.2022 The Authority invites stakeholders to provide feedback as part of the senior secondary Syllabus Review 2020. Surveys are currently open for Years 11 and 12 Computer Science (ATAR), Design (ATAR), Human Biology (General), Music (ATAR) and Psychology (ATAR). The surveys for these five courses can be accessed now from the relevant course page of the Authority website at https://senior-secondary.scsa.wa.edu.au/syllabus-and-suppor and will close on Monday, 9 March 2020. Note: updates about the Syllabus Review 2020 process will be communicated via the Authoritys 11to12 Circular and on the Authority website at https://senior-secondary.scsa.wa.edu.au/syl/syllabus-review.

Wednesday, 23 September is the last date for the Authority to receive French, German and Italian Background Languages personal investigation interview sheet examination submissions. Design portfolio practical examination submissions, Materials Design and Technology portfolio practical examination submissions, Media Production and Analysis production practical examination submissions, Music composition portfolio practical e...xamination submissions and Visual Arts production practical examination submissions are also due to be received by the Authority. Friday, 25 September is the last date for the Authority to receive information on participation and incidents for the September round of the OLNA. Details are to be entered into the OLNA dashboard. Also on Friday, 25 September, the Unit 3 content on which the EST for each Year 12 General and Foundation course will be based in 2021, will be available on the Authority website. 11.01.2022 Welcome to this weeks Activities Schedule reminders. On Thursday, 19 December, Year 12 students results will be available online via the Authoritys student portal. In early January 2020, the Authority will issue the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), course reports, Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement (WASSA) and selected award certificates for Year 12 students.

10.01.2022 Students enrolled in a Year 12 ATAR course can now access their personalised examination timetables for the practical and written ATAR course examinations in the student portal: https://studentportal.scsa.wa.edu.au. Students will need their student number and password to log in to the student portal. For the purposes of contingency planning for the examinations, it is important that students check their personalised examination timetable regularly and each day before the scheduled examination time, as any updated details relating to their examinations will appear on their timetable.

Thursday, 12 December is the last date for final changes to registration and demographic information for KindergartenYear 11 students to be uploaded into SIRS. Make sure you have your WA student number and password ready to go. You can find your student number on your exam timetable, school reports or SmartRider. If you have forgotten your password, you will need to go into the portal and reset it.

On Wednesday, 19 February, the ceremony for the 2019 School Curriculum and Standards Authority exhibitions and awards will be taking place. Thursday, 20 February ...is the last date for the Authority to receive student achievement declaration forms (other than Year 12) and VET and/or endorsed programs achievement declaration forms (other than Year 12) for 2019 data. It is also the last date to upload changes to student achievement data (other than Year 12) for 2019 (via RSCOS, RSEND, RSVET and RSQUAL files) into SIRS. Wednesday is also the last date for the Authority to receive completed student applications for permission to enrol in a WACE language course in 2021 (for schools commencing the 2021 school year in Term 4 of 2020) for the study of Second, Background and First Language courses in any of the following languages: Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian or Japanese (including non-school candidates wishing to enrol in a Background and/or First Language ATAR course examination). 07.01.2022 Part I of the Year 12 Information Handbook is now available on our website at https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/publications/year-12-information. Students enrolled in Year 12 courses, should read the handbook and refer to it when they have questions about their enrolment, the WACE and the WASSA. Students should also visit the student website and portal to check their details and enrolments. Part I is for all students enrolled in Year 12. Part II will be published in July and will have an examinations focus to provide information specifically for students enrolled in Year 12 ATAR courses.

The Physical Education Studies ATAR course practical examination elective forms, listing the sport and skill level in which the student is enrolled for the practical examination, will be available to schools/providers in SIRS. Also on Monday, 20 July, the Year 12 Information Handbook 2020, Part II will be available to view and down...load from the Authority website at https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/publications/year-12-information. Visit https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/curriculum-assessment-c/overview for ongoing curriculum and assessment advice for students, schools, parents and the community. The website will support teachers and school leaders to respond to curriculum and assessment challenges experienced in a modified learning environment, because of the COVID-19 situation. In particular, the Years 11 and 12 section of the website provides information ...and accommodations to assist teachers to ensure continuity of learning, teaching and assessment for students during 2020. Schools should communicate directly with their Years 11 and 12 students in relation to any changes they may implement in relation to your specific courses.
