25.01.2022 Congratulations to our Western Australian franchisees, nearly open ! Signs going up today ! Waiting to deliver an awesome training experience

22.01.2022 44 Years ago i received my Victorian Security Firms licence (had to be 21 years old then) having worked as a security officer / crowd controller for a few years before. A lot has changed in the security industry, communications, conditions BUT journalists still do not properly research stories they simply write headlines to sell papers to their ever dwindling circulation. Recently SECURITY OFFICERS have received a lot of bad press about the Victorian quarantine hotel situatio...n. This is not the security officers fault, many were newbies who were provided no induction training, or PPE or SOP's they just wanted to work to feed their families. Many experienced officers were not engaged because they did not want to pay award wages and conditions if you engage newbies via whatsapp and provide no training on the job "this is what happens" The issues lie firmly with the current security methodology 1. Major company wins contract 2. Major company sub contracts to smaller company 3. Smaller company fills shirts 4. Smaller company engages via whatsapp etc (there is a place for proper induction training) Don't blame the front line workers On this day (International Security Officers Day) 24th July was selected representing the 24/7 nature of the industry I say thank you to all the security officers out there and all the awesome security firms i work with everyday (that do the right thing) for the awesome job you do, and brush off the journalists un-researched views, Take newbies under your wing and show them what to do? and to clients out there take a few minutes to thank your security team.

18.01.2022 Security Officers and anti-face mask crusaders Security officers are positioned in the front line in managing entry of persons into a clients premises and as such must know your rights- Preparation ... Make sure you are fully aware of your clients written policy on staff, contractors and / or visitors entering the premises (read SOP’s) - make sure appropriate signage is clearly visible ensuring all persons are aware it is a requirement to wear a face mask - make sure appropriate instructions for persons claiming an exemption are included Remember to use appropriate communication skills (people may be videoing you) these include both verbal and body language skills (be professional) If appropriate signage is posted advising of terms and conditions of entry and a person refuses to wear a mask you should advise them that their invitation to enter is withdrawn and that they would be trespassing (issue a trespass notice) If they enter call police and have the trespasser removed Above process should be included in SOP’s Remember some people have an exemption and a genuine reason for not wearing a mask Those trying to gain media attention will be videoing the encounter and will try to get you on video at your worst BE PROFESSIONAL Need help writing SOP’s or Trespass notices call me anytime

13.01.2022 Are you sick of paying for multiple licence fees because you work in border towns ? Automatic Mutual Recognition (AMR) legislation is before parliament at present and no surprise SLED (NSW) and LRD (Vic) are asking for exemptions placing unfair expensive burdens on security officers AMR is beneficial to security officers and in 2015 the productivity commission stated that if legislators didn’t like it then they should create common training and licensing standards ... (Google 2015 Productivity Commission Report in Mutual Recognition and read page 143) SLED, LRD and all other legislators have had years to align licensing and as a result now are requesting exemptions Contact your local state and federal MPs and let them know that exemptions should not be granted Richard Franks

To give effect to this, draft legislation to amend the Commonwealth Mutual Recognition Act 1992 will be released by the end of the year to facilitate automatic mutual recognition commencing by 1 July 2021
