25.01.2022 Grateful to have some awesome strength and conditioning coaches on board helping our athletes become functional and strong!

25.01.2022 From racing -> In gym performance. This lift is working increasing leg power through triple extension. It is extremely important for rowing athletes to increase their lower limb power to increase their force through their stroke. Rowing athletes have a large range of motion to produce force through so end range power is vital in their sport.

17.01.2022 Perfect the basics. Everyone wants to chop and change and try the coolest new exercise they see on Instagram. Often these exercises are all show. The fundamentals of strength haven’t changed in 50 years, push and pull in every plane of motion. ... Pictured above is @dan.lanthois a future AFL star executing a pull up (vertical pull). When Dan first started with us he could already do weighted pull ups, but his technique was extremely unsafe. Over the past six months Dan has taken small steps backwards to take huge steps forward, unloading and perfecting the movement. It’s not always pretty, but it’s effective and the results show for themselves. If you’re interested in unlocking your athletic potential, get in contact with one of staff members ASAP.

16.01.2022 NEW FACE MASK LAW Alrighty crew, we’ve done it before and we can do it again! The QLD government has announced that from 1am tomorrow morning, face masks... will be mandatory across the whole of QLD indefinitely. We will of course be enforcing this and following the rules and we ask you to be a team player and do the same! Unfortunately, if you don’t wish to wear a face mask (without a serious medical reason) then we will have to ask you to not enter our facility. Let’s do this together so we can continue training at O2. We recommend you begin to wear masks even earlier if you can. #wegotthis #o2performance

16.01.2022 Congratulations to all the Flinders girls who played on Monday and brought home three premierships! How awesome is this photo of SCSI athlete @georgiabuttt in action.

15.01.2022 38.7cm 47.3cm in just 12 weeks. QAS Volleyballer Matthew Setchell has been working with the team here at @sunshinecoastsportsinstitute once a week for 12 weeks focussing on left and right leg asymmetry to improve vertical power output. His power program has emphasised eccentric to concentric transfer (elastic energy) throughout both unilateral and bilateral movements. If you’re after these sort of results, message us!

12.01.2022 Having personally observed Ashlee Unie begin her her netball aspirations many years ago, this is simply so encouraging for all our young Sunny Coast athletes and so very rewarding for Ash for all her efforts. Consistency and resilience are the key, keep showing up, keep improving, when you don’t make your goal on the first or second attempt use that time WISELY. Ash now has a physio degree and a contract for Sunshine Coast Lightning!!! Congratulations Ash Unie!!! #resiliance #trainhard #mindsetiseverything

10.01.2022 We want to break the stigma! In season sports training usually focuses on skills and metabolic conditioning. This often comes at the expense of strength training. Prehab/injury prevention is usually overlooked, especially within the developing athletic population. ... During our sessions we focus on injury prevention and strength exercises that are athlete/ sport specific. This ensures any movements performed during play are supported by safe muscle mechanics to decrease the risk of injury.
