22.01.2022 For those of you who treat young ones or their sleep deprived parents. What are the longer term impacts for children - according to a study from the BMJ - these children will experience more anxiety and emotional problems at the age of 4. My personal experience is that any issue that is impacting sleep will affect every other system in the body.... From your own experiences in practice, are there any specific recurring patterns that you observe that appear in unsettled babies and children?

21.01.2022 You may have noticed we are aiming to post one research article per week in relation to osteopathic research, particularly cranial orientated but not always. Research posts are not the most popular, but that’s not why we post them. We do this because reading research is important and we want you to have access to information that can support you in what you do.

13.01.2022 Learn more about the reported findings of differing rate of the palpated cranial cycles

12.01.2022 Passionate about protecting our skulls from trauma? This is an interesting piece about how far helmets have come and the unique properties of different types. I’d never thought about how a cricket helmet is different to a hard hat and the different needs we have when protecting our heads from different forces quite in this way.... Really very lifesaving, especially the story of the soldier who got shot in the back of the head in Afghanistan, but the bullet didn’t penetrate the helmet due to the newer stretchy fibres.

11.01.2022 Do patients ever come in and report changes to their IBS or other digestive symptoms post treatment? The research is emerging......

06.01.2022 Osteopathic Approach to Infant Feeding Considerations for Practice Saturday, 27 March 2021 Hamilton, NZ... Infant feeding issues are a clinical presentation for many osteopaths. SCTF of ANZ recognises this and has developed a 2-part program of theory and practice to help clinicians develop their practice in this clinically relevant area. Many of the techniques learnt on this course can be used in other areas of osteopathy such as TMJ disorders, headaches and digestive disorders. Part 1 is online and will need to be finished at home before attending the practical day. This will consider the relevant literature, osteopathic considerations and the anatomy of the child and mother. Most importantly the embryonic development of the orofacial structures neural organs and intestinal tract will be presented by Dr Brian Freeman, a prominent embryologist who is well known for his biodynamic approach to embryology. Part 2 is face to face in Hamilton, NZ on Saturday March 27th 2021. Experienced pediatric osteopaths will present useful assessment and exercises for mother and baby in combination with other practical techniques in a maximum ratio of 1 tutor to 4 practitioners (1:4). Part 2 is open to registered osteopaths only. This program will give an overview of the relevant anatomy and theory to support a day of practice.
