25.01.2022 Cowtail stingray catching some morning sun. This was another shot taken in the boat channel at Heron Island on the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. Super excited to be heading back in December to capture more moments like this. Sony A6300 1/125 F13 ISO 320 #sonydive #heronisland #stingray #cowtailray

24.01.2022 A must read for anyone, especially those that think women get equal treatment.

23.01.2022 There is 4 hour guided ROV survey of this new reef discovered off Australia. I found it interesting scrubbing through it and listening to the researchers' commentary.

22.01.2022 When people say the word 'shark' I wonder how many people default to thinking about something other than a great white. More people in Australia would have seen Epaulette sharks by visiting places like Heron Island than will ever encounter anything like the sharks they think of when they think of 'sharks.' #visitqueensland #heronisland #sharksofaustralia #sharks @ Heron Island, Queensland, Australia

21.01.2022 The manta we named Schmickety #mantatrust #idthemanta #heronisland #underwateraustralia #mantaray #uwphotography #projectmanta @ Heron Island, Queensland, Australia. If you spot a manta send any ID shots you have of its belly to Project Manta. They use software to ID, track and record individuals. You get to name the manta if it is the first time its been identified!

21.01.2022 It's world manta day so here is another manta ray for your manta starved feed #worldmantaday2020 #underwateraustralia #bellyshot #heronisland #australia #sonydive

20.01.2022 These shark nets are not barriers and they don't protect us. They simply indescriminantly kill sealife.

19.01.2022 Awesome work everyone involved. This video also highlights the effect of plastics in the marine environment.

18.01.2022 How awesome is this art piece by @weichienartgallery of a humpback whale? We see these beauties traveling up and down our coastline from May to October while on the their annual migration between their feeding and breeding grounds. Visit some of the profiles of those tagged in this post to see their contributions to conservation, education and appreciation for these majestic creatures. #whalewatching #humpbackwhales #naturalwonders

16.01.2022 I'm back in the water after a two month recovery period with a broken leg. I sold my camera setup to @charlieunderwater while healing, and I took out a compact system while I waiting for my new @aquaticadigital housing to arrive. I had a blast with the @sonyalpha RX100v. I'm amazed at the capability of an affordable point and point solution. It allowed me to get close up to my subject and it was noticeably less effort carrying it to the dive site. I'm now torn I've tagged some of the people that helped put this system together. Snoot light from @macromode.com.au video light from @aquatic_imaging_australia and @uwimages strobes from @underwateraustralasia #underwateraustralia #underwaterphotography #sonydive #bareisland #sydneydving #australia #nudibranch #allmyunderwaterfriends

15.01.2022 This insane barbarity is happening while you sleep tonight

15.01.2022 Some exciting news ... a pipefish myself and Charlie photographed almost two years ago in Botany Bay was officially named by science yesterday. You can read about Stigmatopora harastii published in a scientific paper at the link below. "Harasti’s Pipefish and the Red Wide-bodied Pipefish are proposed here as the common names." https://zookeys.pensoft.net/article/57160/

12.01.2022 Just bought tickets to the screening of Envoy: Shark Cull in Bondi later this month. Can't wait to see the work this fabulous team put together. I've been following their story for many months and I'm glad people are exposing the devestating effect these cull nets have on our marine environment while offering no meaningful protection to swimmers. See @envoyfilm for further information about other screenings around Australia. @hollyrichmond_ who features in this film also put together a documentary called @thesharknetfilm which is available publicly on Vimeo. It's well worth being made aware of what is happening on our beaches while supporting these inspirational champions of our oceans. #sharknets #oceanfilms #sharkcull #envoysharkcull #oceanconservation

12.01.2022 A nice little surprise on a night dive recently in Sydney

12.01.2022 We managed to sneak in a spontaneous trip to Heron Island on the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef earlier this month. It is a tiny island with outrageously good diving and snorkelling options. Most of the better pics were taken while wading along the reef or swimming in the boat channel. Cannot wait to get back and stay for longer next time. If you have been to Heron Island or are considering it drop us message or comment below. Images shot on Sony/Fantasea Line combo.

10.01.2022 Yet another video of shark lurking in the shallow waters around Australia, violently attacking it's food source. #sonydive #sharksofaustralia #clickbait #sharkattack

08.01.2022 So excited to have a close friend that has opened an underwater camera store at my local dive centre If you are on the market for new gear and great advice Vanessa is the person to speak to.

03.01.2022 I had such fun being part of the first episode of The Local Eye Show with Jason Iggleden, Matthews Donato, Charlie Elliott José Mecha Mateos, Jaime Vives Moreno, Josie Bedford and Igor Curvello.

02.01.2022 I've visited Komodo three times, and twice with Wunderpus Liveaboard. I cannot recommend this liveaboard company more highly. Despite having fantastic dive guides, yummy food and a wicked setup they are also extremely environmentally conscious and contribute substantially to the preservation of the national park. They also kept all employees on the payroll during months of inactivity during the pandemic, showing their commitment to supporting the livelihood of their local staff. These are true ocean ambassadors. Show your support by voting for them and their sister boat Mimic who is equally and interchangly championing conservation efforts in Komodo. Can't wait for borders to reopen to revisit the reefs with these amazing folk.

02.01.2022 Another Bondi visitor that has now relocated. A very distinct scar makes her easy to recognise. Before this she was previously seen down south in Shell Harbour. I wonder where she will show up again. #bondibeachl #greynurseshark #underwaterphotography #sharks #sharksofaustralia #uwphotography

01.01.2022 Sunrise on Heron Island. I'm experiencing nostalgia going through photos that at the time didn't make the cut. Being land locked with a broken leg is giving me the chance to revisit images that wouldn't have seen the light of day #heronisland #fantasea_line #sonydive #splitshot #sunrisesplit #starfish

01.01.2022 Sunrise in colour and black and white. I could not decide which version of the image to share so went with posting both. The black and white remind me of how I see the world when I just wake up. It takes a while for the colour to filter in. Are you a morning person? I'm not, at least until 10am #morning #underwateraustralia #sonydive #fantasea_line ... 1/125 F13, ISO 320 Sony 10-18mm @ 10mm @heronisland @ Heron Island, Queensland, Australia

01.01.2022 Playing around with sun-bursts is one of my favourite things to do. I often turn my camera off at depth and just enjoy the dive because the dull light doesn't give me much to work with. Image this photograph without those yellow beams? It just wouldn't be nearly as interesting (1/100, F16, ISO 500) #turtletuesaday #divingwithturtles #freedivingheronisland #heronisland
