18.01.2022 ATTENTION PEOPLE!! SCUDA is conducting and SDI Rescue Diver course over the weekend of 3-4 November 2018. The course is a pre-requisite for professional level training as well as the illustrious Master Diver certification.... The training will provide you with the skills needed to recognise and prevent potential accidents as well as performing diver rescues and administering first aid should the need arise. The course includes an online theory component followed by a two day practical session diving from the shore and our charter vessel Jenna. The course will focus on the skills needed to effectively implement rescue scenarios in challenging south coast conditions and include: Prevention and causes of diving accidents; Diving lifesaving; Hyperbaric injuries and management; and Accident and evacuation management. Cost is $355 including certification and a double boat session. Some pre requisites apply. 13.01.2022 Every now and again we encounter animals that need our assistance, in this case it was a hooked wobbygong shark! Brian came to its rescue, and successfully freed it from the meters of fishing line it had been caught up in. The hook should rust out over time - you don’t want to get near those chompers! Well done guys!

12.01.2022 A nice fish from a spearfishing adventure yesterday. Mahi-Mahi are one of the worlds most sustainable fisheries, with fish growing at a rate of an inch per week. They are voracious predators and will eat anything from leatherjackets to baby turtles. Each female will spawn 2-3 times per year and produce up to a million eggs per event. They sexually mature when they’re 20cm long! They are not long lived, and only live to a maximum of 7 years. By this stage males can weigh an ...impressive 30+kg! And, now and again, we don’t mind taking a couple of fish for the table If you’re interested in sustainably harvesting one of these magnificent fish for the table, send us a message now!

09.01.2022 Just got back from a week in Vanuatu. Did the usual wrecks (Coolidge Million dollar point etc ) but also got some flower diving in at both Port Vila and Santo. Apparently they have reef over there too. Who knew? It was great to get back and catch up with old friends. Planning a shop trip over there next winter. Something for the family at around $2000.... 06.01.2022 Congratulations to Zac Hudson for completing his technical training with us. Zac managed to complete his TDI Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures and Trimix Diver qualifications over 10 days during the recent fires. Zac Mastered the skills and knowledge needed to complete the courses with ease and I'm looking forward to spending more time with him exploring our 60m reefs.

02.01.2022 DIVE DIVE DIVE! SCUBA Brush Island and the Bateman’s Bay Marine Park with SCUDA! Sunday 20 May 2018... We are taking advantage of the slight westerly this weekend to dive the pristine waters of Brush Island. 1 First dive will be with the pelagic fish, sharks, and sponges of the pinnacle in 18-43m. Meet a the Kioloa ramp at 7:45 for an 8am departure. I love this dive and will be getting wet so it’s a good chance to try something more challenging with an instructor nearby. 2 Second dive is a wreck dive on the Boiler of the Northern Firth to 26m. The boiler provides shelter for hundreds of bullseyes, trumpeter, wobby’s and cuttlefish. Enjoy this fish soup at the start of your dive followed by cruise along the reef wall to see the usual critters including weedy sea dragons. Boat leaves the Kioloa ramp at 9.30am. 3 Third dive will check out the wreckage of the Northern Firth and Grey Nurse Sharks in 6- 18m. This dive is perfect for those of you that have just completed your Openwater course and want to get some independence.
