20.01.2022 Reflecting today on what hurdles our annual has encountered the last few years, Jenny Whiteside comes to mind. Fallen from Grace, is her entry to our annual exhibition this year which has been moved online because of a snap lock down. 2020 was cancelled, and 2019 Jennys work was refused for exhibiting by the venue, due to the nature of our venue and the sensitivity of the people who frequented it. No tongue in cheek nudity this year, but this beautiful ephemeral work with ...clear lines. 19.01.2022 A great humorous work, that has a serious undertone- The last year has turned everything on its head and one of the biggest cultural shifts has been in the work / balance of many of us working from home. Lois Basham wanted to express the mixed feelings of returning to the office after such a topsy turvy year. The joy mixed with the unconventional ways we have communicated during the absence from the workplace. @Beaconsculptureandceramics #Beaconsculptureandceramics... 13.01.2022 This interesting work which shows a contrast between smooth and rough wood, could be an allegory for life- smooth and rough, easy and hard. 13.01.2022 Shake! Shake the blues away, shake off the wet! Facebook.com/profile.php?id=1659852681 Annie about working in wire; ... I worked in bronze for a few years before moving to wire. I was drawn to the immediacy and infinite possibilities to portray movement with the medium. My works are best described as whimsical snapshots of life which are intended to evoke memories and emotion. Made to look old to create a sense of timelessness and nostalgia. Dogs and the female form as well as water, movement feature heavily. My work focuses on moments of joy and my inspiration comes from everyday life.. 10.01.2022 It is possible that the Universe is infinite but 2020 has focused our minds on the things that are finite - resources, life, time - we are responsible for how we deal with our lives and our environment. 09.01.2022 Bruce Webb; a 'Piquet - is the first in my new series of sentinels. A Piquet is a sentry positioned for early warning of an attack'. This is only part of this sculpture- and I wish we had had more piquets in place a few weeks ago- when all seemed fine and we were preparing full steam ahead for our annual exhibition, before we heard that movement was again impossible, and we had to go online. 04.01.2022 My sculpture is titled Balancing Life and how appropriate is that at this time. The art world is in a delicate balancing act. In October we hope to hold the Exhibition in the Gallery of the Victorian Artists Society. All depends on which way the scales of the Covid Pandemic lean.
