25.01.2022 Check out this Kalamunda Open Studios this weekend featuring Sculpture at Bathers artist Mikaela Castledine @mikaelacastledine Posted @withregram @kalamundaopenstudios ARTIST @kalamundaopenstudios Mikaela Castledine... I have been working as an artist for more than twenty five years, have participated in many solo and groups shows and have won many prizes. I was born in the Wheatbelt of WA and grew up in the Perth hills. I have returned to live in Kalamunda in a purpose built Arthouse with a tree top studio and an expectation of creativity from all who enter the front door. While I often work in the medium of Paper Collage I also like to experiment with thread and wood and crotchet needles. My biggest creative impulse is a need to be constantly making. Having won the prestigious Sculpture Scholarship at Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe in 2013 and the Sculpture Inside prize at Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe 2016 as well as being selected as a finalist in the Bankwest Sculpture Prize 2016 I now divide my time between 2D and 3D work.

21.01.2022 Kalamunda Open Studios is this weekend and features Harry Pannekoek who has exhibited in Sculpture at Bathers over the years. . Posted @withregram @kalamundaopenstudios Johannes (Harry) Pannekoek ARTIST. .... Johannes Pannekoek is a Western Australian artist and sculptor combining his skills in creative design, engineering and material finish. Whilst always being involved in artistic pursuits both personally and commercially, he gained a background in engineering after studying at UWA and working with his family’s engineering business. He then commenced a career spanning 25 years in graphic design, branding and business development before pursuing his interest in visual arts. In 2007 & 2008 he studied Applied Environmental Arts at Central TAFE. His non-objective artwork arises from the process of constructive manipulation of abstract ideas in parabolic curves, spatial relations, volume and line. Working primarily with ferrous and non-ferrous metals he currently focuses on a methodology requiring some challenging mathematical and fabrication processes resulting in unique sculptures with a quality material finish. Johannes works from his studio and workshop in Gooseberry Hill where he has the space and equipment to fully design, construct and finish the works himself. Group exhibitions include; Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2020. Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2012, 2016 and 2017. Bathers Beach, Fremantle 2015, 2017 and 2020. He is represented in a number of private, corporate and public collections including the Crown Towers Perth and Sydney Harbour Sculpture Collection.

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Nic Compton... addition images are of Nic‘s Sculpture at Bathers 2020 called Reclaim. Posted @withregram @artsourcewa Introducing SPRING mentee Nic Compton. Originally from NZ, Nic has developed his art practice in Australia for over 30 years. Working with timber, his sculpture is informed by many things including his Maori cultural heritage and his travels. Much of Nic’s work explores water; the movement of it, travelling on and through it, as well as... the mysterious life within. Having the opportunity to work in remote Aboriginal communities has further grounded his work. This year, Nic exhibited as part of Sculpture at Bathers 2020 and has had his work installed at Hammond Park and Broome. @nic.compton or www.niccomptonartist.com SPRING Mentoring is an opportunity for WA artists to benefit from the experience and expertise of curator, Sandra Murray, thanks to the support of @artsourcewa and @deptlgsc - Images courtesy the artist 1. 01.01.2022 Sculpture at Wadjemup, where Sculpture at Bathers artists are exhibiting at the newly refurbished Wadjemup Museum. Rottnest Island, Western Australia This is Pod made from dyed fleece, olive sticks, cotton thread, by artist Carmela Corvaia who says: Pod is an artwork that is inspired by cultural connections, the natural environment and traditional object-making. The work is an aggregation of fibres, sticks and threads - a simple structure of overlapping circles which creates a meditative, nascent form.
