25.01.2022 Today should have been day one of the 2020 Sculptures at Killalea festival and while it's been tough to come to terms with, it really has put into perspective what a year it has been for so many. Our thoughts are with all those who are suffering, be it in lockdown, drought, floods or fire, it's been an exceptionally tough year. We couldn't do it in 2020, but we plan to bring it back - and bring you altogether - again in 2021, until then be safe. ... We'd love to see some of your favourite memories from past years....share away! #sculpturesatkillalea

22.01.2022 We're very excited to announce Stockland Shellharbour have chipped in $500 to this year's schools category! In partnership with BlueScopeWIN Community Partners each of the below schools is in the running to win - voting will open on Friday 13 September and will close midnight on Sunday 22 September with the winner to be announced on the Monday. This year's schools include: Warilla Baptist Preschool St John the Evangelist Nowra Calderwood Christian School... 21.01.2022 2019 SCHOOLS WINNER - Lake Illawarra High School This year we received 8,051 votes for the Schools Category which is proudly sponsored by BlueScope WIN Community Partners and Stockland Shellharbour. A huge congratulations to Lake Illawarra High Schools' Harbour Centre (Support Unit) with their award-winning installation - East Coast Low (After Hokusai's 'The Great Wave'). The 3m x 1.8m weaving, using recycled materials and natural fibres was on display at Stockland Shellharb...our. Developing the school's program is an important part of our festival so we can continue to support art and creative learning for the next generation. Thank you to ALL the schools who entered their students this year, it's not lost on us how many extra hours and out-of-hours work goes into collating, installing, removing and coordinating all the elements to get you to this point - it's not a small task!! 19.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart and much deliberation that we advise that Sculptures at Killalea 2020 has been postponed. Several factors have impacted this decision and it has not come easy - or willingly. The impact of COVID-19 has been too great - on the community and our corporate partners - and we don't believe we are in a position to deliver an event that would be in the best interests of the artists or community. ... HOWEVER, not all is lost. We are looking to reschedule and hopefully, we'll be back with some very good news, very soon... stay tuned! #sculpturesatkillalea

13.01.2022 He was the inaugural major prize winner in 2016 and in 2019, Michael Greve returns with Ganesh. Made from an old indigenous tree root with 8000-year-old red gum tusks. 09.01.2022 2019 - PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNER. Luke Turnbull - Karma. For those who aren't aware, Luke is 11 years old and an environmentalist with a love of the oceans.... "I wish that people would understand that it is ultimately us that we are hurting when we throw litter carelessly. "Most people dont care about fish and sea life and STILL litter in our oceans. What they dont think about is that their litter ends up becoming part of the fishes diet and therefore KARMA, in eating seafood they eat their own litter. This is a shocking piece where inside the fishes eye is lit up to expose careless litter in its belly made to make people think before they throw"

04.01.2022 Last night former Woonoona High student, now Singapore based artist, B. Jane Cowie was crowned this years major winner for her installation, Swirling Surround. This afternoon at 4pm a special meet and greet will be held at Stockland Shellharbour where Jane will explain in detail the intricate work, which included the installation of 999 fish - and the importance of that exact number - and her career as an award-winning artist who has spent her years travelling the world crea...ting installing and showcasing her works. The event will take place in JB Hi-Fi Mall from 4pm. A special mention also to Michael Greve who was last night crowned runner-up, with his work, Ganesh, Highly commended - Shannon Hobbs with Iron Bark and Honourable mention, 14yo Luke Turnball with Karma.
