08.01.2022 In recognition of our incredible team we are closed this Saturday to reward our SCV family that may have already become part of yours... We are just as excited as you about your new puppy/kitten, we feel just as sad when your pets get lost, we cry with you when it's time to say goodbye and we laugh and reminisce with you about the memories... Its been a big year, and 2020 has had its challenges!... We each look forward to having a single day off to enjoy each other's company and reinvigorate what it is like to be part of Southern Cross Vet. Thanks for choosing us, having faith in our team, our recommendations and our care, while we're closed this Saturday, we are open Sunday from 9-1pm. #team #love #southerncrossvet

06.01.2022 Continuing and maintaining our education! All of our superstar nurses met up today at our St Peter’s clinic to do a refresher session on all things nursing. It’s a rare moment for us all to be seen in the same room! #continuingeducation #vetnurselife #vetnursesofinstagram #vetsofinstagram

05.01.2022 Yesterday at our Surry Hills clinic, we had a fun time in the surgical theatre with Dr Neil Hannan repairing Georgie’s bi-lateral medial luxating patellas. Medial patella luxation is a condition where the patella (knee-cap) does not stay in its normal position in the groove on the end of the femur (thigh bone) and will pop-out, or luxate, to the medial (inside) surface of the knee. Both of Georgie’s knees were doing this! This can either be a condition from birth or after a ...trauma to the leg, and is more common than you’d think in the smaller breeds. The bright lines you see in the post-operative X-rays (slides 4,5 and 6) are the pins that are surgically inserted to hold the muscles around the kneecaps in place! This means that Georgie’s kneecaps will now be supported in the correct spot by her muscles. Once she goes home, Georgie will begin a 6-8 week rehab period. She has been the best patient ever and we hope she has a quick recovery! #orthopedicsurgery #veterinarymedicine #vetsofinstagram See more
