10.01.2022 STRENGTH DAY Some times circuit based classes you can find yourself in a fast paced environment doing movements that are new and unfamiliar. Yes it can be daunting, especially when you see other members lifting heavy and moving confidently. We spend a lot of time practicing form and movements to help our members build confidence, and pride ourselves on ensuring everyone feels at home and comfortable with what their bodies can do and achieve when lifting weights. There’...s no need to rush, so remember it’s okay to take your time and move though the movements in a way that works for you. Whether you’re a weekend warrior, full-time athlete, or someone who goes to the gym regularly, proper lifting technique is essential for avoiding injury. When we lift a lot of heavy weight, this can cause the body to become misaligned that can place your tendons, muscles and joints in positions that can potentially cause strains or tears. We believe it’s always better to lift lighter weights with proper form than to lift heavy weight with sloppy form and work your way up the ladder to the heavier weights! If you have to swing your whole body into the exercise to lift the weight- then this is a sign that the weight is too heavy. Here are some tips to minimise the risk of injury: Get your body as close as possible to the object you are going to lift. Have your feet placed shoulder-width apart. Bend through your hips and your knees (not through your back!). Maintain a nice long and straight spine while you lift.

Jess says it’s important to really tune in and really listen to their answer. If there’s something up you do not need to fix it, and you can say things like:... - That must be so hard - I understand why you would feel that way - I’m here for you - I love you - What do you need right now And then check on them again.
