12.01.2022 115 years ago today, on the bright morning of 7 December 1905, we opened the door to our first long day care nursery in Woolloomooloo, welcoming children and families from the community. Months of fundraising, community support and hard work had paid off, finding the ideal space. The terrace had spacious rooms and a courtyard where children could learn and play, a kitchen where nutritious meals could be made, a cosy cot room for babies, washroom and more. Most importantly, local mothers were reassured their little ones would receive nurturing care throughout the working day. Today, we celebrate our beginnings 115 years ago and recognise the amazing achievements we’ve made thanks to the commitment of our dedicated staff. SDN is proud to continue supporting families and children in our communities.
