23.01.2022 The next Austrains NEO release will be the re-tooled VR range of PL type carriages. We've re-tooled the sides of the APL/BPL and BCPL to represent the original sliding passenger door entrance. The roof mounted torpedo ventilators have been resized and we've added a second style of underframe to enable a greater range of road numbers. The new models will be available as twin packs and there'll be a choice of 9 packs. They'll represent the following periods, 1957-66, 1966-77 and 1977-80s. They'll be here early 2020.

21.01.2022 Great news for our patient SAR modellers. Finally, some 8 weeks after leaving the factory, our DCC Sound SAR 800 class models arrived into Port Botany last weekend. We will start despatching these models early next week, we'd like to thank everybody for their patience. The popularity of this model locomotive has been greater than we'd predicted, with some road numbers now sold out with us. Roll on the next Bo-Bo in 2021.

20.01.2022 Our Austrains NEO reworked VR PL series of carriages have arrived. These new carriages now feature sliding door bodies and have more proportionally sized roof ventilators. We have also made a new floor moulding with narrower spaced solebars and offset handbrake arrangement. The new floor is fitted to the APL and BCPL coded carriages and allowed us to produce a new range of correct road numbers for these era specific cars. The Single pack smooth sided swing door carriage has been delayed a little, and will now arrive in a few months time. The green and yellow PL car is being considered for a future release and at present is a 'work in progress'. Pre-orders should be in the post by this Friday 17/07 and retailer stock available by late next week.

18.01.2022 Some Indigenous liveried NRs arrived today, the Non Powered and DC powered versions will be in the post early next week for those who have pre-ordered. Also in mid December we'll receive our Indian Pacific, Ghan and Southern Spirit DC powered versions. http://www.sdsmodels.com.au/sdsnr.htm

14.01.2022 Having spent considerable time engineering the Phoenix Reproductions D3 class steam engine we decided to advance the project a little further back in time with a dedicated pair of late 1940s engines. Available soon from SDS Models, Victorian Railways D3 638 and D3 690 with original low sided flare top tender. This is a small volume release of two prototype specific road numbers and will be available early 2021. Details will be on our website shortly.

14.01.2022 The first samples of our Indigenous liveried NRs arrived recently. These two models are for the Artist's approval and we are confident she'll be impressed. Some minor colour balance will need to made before the final assembly starts.

13.01.2022 NEWS IN, May 2020 A peak at our retro engineering of the VR Y class, spoked wheels for early deliveries. Starting out with the Austrains Y lass tooling this model required the least amount of reworking to bring the model into the '20s. Upgrades will feature the option of factory fitted DCC Sound and come standard with LED lighting, some small improvements to the front and rear pilots and bogie side frames have also been incorporated. We expect some samples around August with ...production following the VR T class early 2021. One of the downsides to 'just in time manufacturing' is supply chain disruptions. Whilst the suppliers we deal with in China are smaller companies and have a high degree of production flexibility and rescheduling ability, any disruption to the supply chain compounds the delivery times of current projects. Often this results in moving on to other projects whilst specialist component suppliers restock. All our latest NEWS can be found here; http://www.sdsmodels.com.au/latenews.htm

13.01.2022 Our latest release of Austrains NEO end platform cars are almost here. First to arrive will be the new 8 car sets and the re-run of the 2 car sets, Pack 003 to Pack 020. These should be available from about the 13th January 2021. The balance of the stock, Pack 021 to Pack 041 should be available from about 28th January 2021.... http://www.sdsmodels.com.au/fopass1.htm

13.01.2022 Today we received the first of our 45' ICX container wagons and some of the 36' NZMF container wagons. The ICXs reflect the evolution of the deck variants with the first being without the spark arrestors, the second with spark arrestors and the third with a completed sheeted deck for explosives traffic. The NZMF wagon was built from redundant sheep wagon underframes and was used primarily to carry 5000 gallon milk containers.

12.01.2022 Production samples of our new NR class models arrived this week. NR30 and NR52 are in production and will start arriving here mid-November, the remaining range will follow and be available mid December. http://www.sdsmodels.com.au/latenews.htm

NR18 Ghan Mk3 Journey Beyond and NR76 Overland (proposed) are also available but in limited numbers. NR52 Kungara Mankurpa missed the consolidation cutoff date in Hong Kong earlier this month, however it'll be available within about 14 days time.... All other versions of our NR range and with DCC Sound, will leave Hong Kong in a few days time and be available towards mid to late October. We now have a production allocation available, to assemble the Great Southern NR models and the new PN colour scheme of Real Trains not Road Trains NR units. These models will arrive towards the end of 2020. Sales of our DC version of the SAR 800 class diesel have exceeded our expectations, with some liveries now Sold Out. ESU have delivered the V5 LokSound decoders to our supplier, and once they return from their national holidays next week they'll assemble and ship the DCC Sound versions. These are due to leave Hong Kong around mid October and will be available in early November. There is also a small quantity of DC models arriving at the same time. We are expecting some decorated samples of the NSWR 49'3" LHG Brake van within a few weeks and this van will go into production later this year. The smooth sided VR 50'5" PL cars are in production and expected later in 2020 however the delivery date is yet to be confirmed by our supplier. NSW SRA 81 class model are now ready to commence the final stages of decoration prior to assembly, now that the NRs have cleared the factory. We'll post some completed running samples images shortly. Our supplier is aiming for some DC Mk1 and Mk2 production to be shipped later this year, with the balance of the programme to be delivered after the Chinese New Year period in early 2021. The latest news on the new end platform car production is that the models are at the painting stage with assembly due to commence next month. Delivery is slated for mid to late November. We have also received two VR T class samples, T2 and T4, and these are being inspected and thoroughly tested. Delivery should commence early 2021. The Phoenix Reproductions VR D3 model, that we have spent considerable time engineering, is close to commencing production. The final two running samples are due later this week and if their assembly matches our design criteria we'll go to production next month. As an aside SDS Models will offer 2 running number models of the D3 locomotive. D3 638 and D3 690 reflecting service in the late 40s / early 50s period with turbo generator on top of the firebox, electric lighting, lattice bar cowcatcher and flare top tender. Lastly, the retooled VR Y class first engineering samples are due later in October and these will follow the T class models production in mid 2021.

07.01.2022 Our DCC control Indigenous liveried NRs are still awaiting delivery of the Motherboards. These come from a third party and are required before assembly can be completed. This means we aren't likely to receive them before the start of the Chinese New year holidays in January 2020. Last week we received more DC powered models. Included were NR30 and NR52, all four numbers of the Indian Pacific Mk1 scheme and NR74, NR75 and NR109 in both Ghan Mk1 and Mk2 schemes. Southern Spirit, Indian Pacific Mk2, 3 and 4 and Ghan Mk3 will arrive early January. http://www.sdsmodels.com.au/sdsnr.htm
