The muscles with in your jaw, neck, shoulders, and scalp have been tensing throughout the day. Several main causes are stress, anxiety, eye strain, fatigue, poor posture, and nutrition. If you suffer from tension headaches try and work on ways to prevent them - drink water, eat well, exercise, meditation/yoga, stretch and of course massage. Don’t live with tension headaches

17.01.2022 Why do I get sore after exercise? This is a question my kids have recently been asking as they prepare for their school cross country. Do you ever think about this after completing exercise? What you are experiencing is called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Muscle tenderness and stiffness usually starts to occur 12-24 hours after exercise. It can last up to 3-5 days. It is thought to be related to microscopic tears in the muscle fibres, which result from exercise tha...t stresses the muscle tissue beyond what it is used to and causes inflammation. DOMS can result from taking part in a new physical activity or training harder than usual. The good news is that the next time you do that activity you are likely to experience less soreness and recover more quickly. Most cases of DOMS gradually subside and have no lasting effects. The mains symptom of DOMS is: muscles that feel tender to touch reduced range of motion due to pain and stiffness when moving swelling in the affected muscles muscle fatigue short-term loss of muscle strength While there is no cure for this condition, there is ways to help with recovery. These include - ice or heat pack to help decrease inflammation. Resting the muscle. Stretching and a small easy exercise, like walking or yoga. MASSAGE and foam rolling. Come book an appointment today. Muscles are important!!

17.01.2022 The struggles of getting through the day are very real for some people. 16.01.2022 Are you someone who complains of their shoulders and neck being tight, sore or stiff? Do you have decreased range of motion or muscle spasm within your neck and shoulders? One contributing muscle could be the Trapezius!! The trapezius is a large superficial triangular muscle that runs from the occipital bone (the bone at the base of the head) down the thoracic spine and laterally along the clavicle. This muscle separates into three sections - upper, middle and lower fibres. E...ach segment plays a role in specific movements of the neck and shoulders such as stabalising the shoulder blades and tilting or rotating the neck. There are many contributing factors which cause pain in this muscle including ~ Overuse - repetitive activities that involve the shoulders can put stress on the muscle. This could cause injury to the muscle. Stress - I find lots of poeple store stress in their shoulders by tensing this muscle. Poor posture - Poor posture over time can add stress on the trapezius muscle. Hunching over a desk or computer for many hours can result in the muscle becoming shortened and tight. My advice - there are ways to help prevent this muscle getting tight and painful. One way is to apply some heat or ice. Try to give this muscle a break from activities which aggravate it. Be mindful about your posture at home and at work and do regular stretches. Also come have a massage - allowing this muscle to relax and get rolled out will help with range of movement and pain and hopefully help you to become more aware of your body's needs.

01.01.2022 I've had multiple clients ask in the past several weeks if I also get massaged? The answer is "yes". Other that providing different types of massage to a variety of people. I am a mum of three beautiful, yet sometimes challenging, children. I also get exhausted, drained and stressed from the emotional, everyday challenges of being a parent. I love exercising including walking, running to bouldering. I enjoy pushing my body and yes, I love the feeling of my body being strong. ...However, with this comes sore, tight and fatigued muscles. I, like most people, are endlessly tidying, cleaning, vacuuming, folding washing and gardening. With this comes reward and satisfaction that I'm doing the best I can for my family. However, yes I feel sore, anxious and burnt out at times. This is where self care comes in.... other than exercise, eating healthy, keeping myself hydrated and seeing friends and family that make me happy.... I get remedial massage. Massage helps enhance circulation to the muscles, thereby increasing their nutrient supply and reducing waste product supply. Massage generates an overall relaxation and sense of well-being. This response comes from the nervous system which results in decreased heart rate and lowering of blood pressure. A release of endorphins also occurs during massage due to the largest organ in the body 'the skin' being touched. The skin is filled with nerve endings and sensors which signal the brain to act in relaxation. Massage helps eliminate trigger points, which are active painful sites within the skeletal muscle. Massage stretches the muscles which allows scar tissue, adhesions and fascia surrounding muscles to loosen or break down thereby initiating muscle repair and improvement. Massage helps your body deal with stress by creating a calming effect on the automatic nervous system. It helps regulate the hormonal imbalances that occur when feeling stressed. This is just some reasons why massage helps my body deal with LIFE. I enjoy helping everyday people relax and reduce pain within their muscles. Whilst providing the other main positive effects and benefits that come with massage.
