Freycinet Paddling Getaway - East Coast, Tasmania (Nov 9th to 11th) Next Level Kayaking are joining with Freycinet Adventures to offer a weekend that blends the security of sea kayaks with the speed and agility of ocean skis. Together we will introduce you to some of the hidden gems of this area, taking you behind the scenery to expand your paddling horizons. To start the trip we will all meet in Hobart on Friday 9th and bus together to our 3 cottages right on the coast at Swanwick, where you can relax with nibbles and drinks while we prepare dinner. The focus for this weekend is 'down time' from life and 'quality time' on the water where you will see stunning cliffs, beautiful beaches and gain confidence on the 'big blue' of Tasmania's East Coast. The format for this weekend will be determined by the weather, so you'll need to come prepared for anything and we'll introduce you to our final trip plan on the first night of the Getaway. Alongside the paddling and feasting we'll be coaching and mentoring you off the water, with plenty of stretching, relaxation and other activities to improve you as paddlers, reinvigorate your body, and help you balance paddling and life into the future. Your main meals, breakfast and lunches will be provided for you, highlighting Tasmanian produce from Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon, when we will return to Hobart. Your personal ski will be safely transported on our trailer, or if you would prefer you can hire a ski for the trip. All sea kayak equipment is provided. This Getaway is suitable for male and female paddlers transitioning from beginner level all the way through to experienced levels. This trip is open to both local and visiting paddlers, with the ability to transfer you to and from the airport and your accommodation pre and post trip. 20 Beaches Paddling Getaway - Northern Beaches, Sydney (Dec 12th to 15th) Great Ocean Paddle Getaway - Surf Coast, Victoria (Jan 31st to Feb 2nd) These Getaways are all about breaking down the barriers that paddlers face when tackling a new or challenging event, or any unfamiliar section of water. We know these challenges all too well through a lifetime of travelling and competition away from our island home of Tasmania, including 6 times competing at the 20 Beaches in Sydney, and 6 years of paddling the surf coast in Victoria. Step by step, in collaboration with event organisers and ambassadors, Next Level Kayaking’s Ben Maynard and Roz Barber will introduce you to the key sections of these courses, and break them down into achievable chunks. We'll run sessions at the start, finish, and some of the crucial mid-race sections of each course. Off the water we'll be taking you through a series of course familiarisation techniques to save you physical and mental energy in the lead-up to the race. These Getaways include self-contained accommodation right in the middle of the courses. Participants will need to provide their own food and drinks for these Getaways, with many self-prepare, eat-in and take-away options available only a short walk or drive away from our accommodation. Our support for 20 Beaches and GOP Getaway participants will extend all the way through to the events, with race-day stretching and warm-up sessions, plus assistance with start/finish logistics. We can see 3 options for paddlers wishing to join our 20 Beaches and GOP Getaways: Tasmanian paddlers - we can transport your personal ski to and from the events on our trailer, you will then fly to Sydney or Melbourne and make your own way to the race course in time for the start of the Getaways (Wednesday 12th Dec at Narrabeen for 20 Beaches, and Thursday 31st Jan at Torquay for GOP). You will also need to provide your own form of vehicle transport (e.g. hire car) for the duration of the Getaway. Paddlers en route to the 20 Beaches and GOP Getaways - we can transport your personal ski to and from the event on our trailer, you will then make your own way to the race course in time for the start of the Getaways. Local 20 Beaches and GOP paddlers - flexible options for joining in any part of these Getaways. Women's Paddling Getaway at Eaglehawk Neck - Tasman Peninsula, Tasmania (Apr 26th to 28th) Next Level Kayaking are teaming up with Roaring 40s Kayaking and local massage therapists to introduce you to the magic of the Tasman Peninsula. Using a proven combination of sea kayaks and ocean skis, we will provide the support and encouragement you need to explore every corner of this paddling paradise. You'll paddle past the tallest sea cliffs in the Southern Hempishpere, cruise past basking seals, see coastline that shimmers green, blue and gold, increase your confidence and skill in shorebreak at one of our most exposed ocean beaches, gaze down into crystal blue water, paddle into a remote cove which never sees the light, and hear tales of shipwrecks, convicts and ghosts from the past. Off the water we'll be taking you through a series of activities designed to help you balance life and paddling when you make your inevitable return to the 'real' world at the end of the Getaway. 09.01.2022 The 2018-2019 SPSC Race Series is confirmed! This year we have picked 8 races that cover a variety of flat water, choppy water, ocean and hopefully downwind if ...the conditions are in our favour. Each member can drop 2 races. If you don't participate in a race, it is automatically dropped for you. If you do more than 6, you are allowed to choose which one is dropped. Points are earned based on places and participation. We will have a running point score chart after the first race and will continue to update it after 6 races are complete. After the 6th race, the point score chart will not be updated and the male and female winners will be announced on the AGM presentation night. For the bonus, during the 2018-2019 season each SPSC member has the opportunity to improve their time on the SUP 5.0 board. The SPSC member with the fastest time on the board at the end of the season will receive bonus points. 06.01.2022 Happy New Year! It's only 5 weeks till the 2019 MAKAI Cup, so we hope you are training well. The rumours are true and this year we are running a 'short course' ...event for those not experienced enough to qualify to race the MAKAI Cup. This is also perfect for those of you still in holiday mode and not fit enough to take on the 22km MAKAI Cup. The Mini MAKAI is a 10km out and back loop from Ulladulla Harbour, and will run independently of the MAKAI Cup earlier in the morning. This is a great opportunity to get a taste of ocean racing on a relatively protected course with support boats on hand. Full timings and details will be out in the next few days along with registration details
