24.01.2022 #MelbourneCupTake1 #SeabraePhotoSpam Melbourne may have the Flemington Spring Carnival, but today at Seabrae, we had our inaurgual staff "donning & doffing"horse race. Once the demonstration & the rules were announced, teams took their places. Who would cross the finish line first? Amity Care Staff, Housekeeping Team, Jacinta & the Physio's or Moreton Care staff. Residents & staff cheered on their favourites, till the end, but there could only be one winner ( kind of)... Congrats to the combined Housekeeping + Amity Team. Thank you to those who donated our great prizes. Stay tuned for our up and coming, very funny video clip.

19.01.2022 We celebrated "Valentine's Friendship Day" on Sunday where chocolates and heart shaped cookies were the order of the day, and a competitive game of bocce was enjoyed.

18.01.2022 2020 Melbourne Cup Staff " Donning & Duffing Race" In the true spirit of fun on Melbourne Cup day, residents cheered as staff frantically raced across the finish line. Great effort Poojah from Moreton & Jacinta our Physio. But our winners of the day and first past the post were...... Delia from Housekeeping & Ryan from Amity. Can't wait for next year.... Congratulations and thank you for a wonderful day at the races. Caution - Loud noise ahead

16.01.2022 National Fairy Bread Day 2020.(Only in Australia ) We had fun reminiscing our childrens birthday parties, creating and eating fairy bread, mini pavalova's, delicious drinks, donuts and cup cakes. If we could sprinkle 100's & 1000's on it....we did

16.01.2022 Spring Picnic Fun & Speed Art The pressure was on as each team joined forces to create a piece of art in seconds, when the music played. Once the music stopped, it was pens down and their paper passed on to their team mate, to add to it. There was lots of laughter and chatter as they cheered each other on. At the end, residents described their art work, "creative, with lots of imagination" what wonderfully creative stories they were. We were laughing all morning. Winners were announced and a spring picnic plate was enjoyed

16.01.2022 Remembrance Day Service 2020 Today we remembered & honoured the many men & women who gave their lives for us. We say, thank you.... Lest We Forget.

14.01.2022 Happy Saturday & greetings from our beautiful Moreton residents. They sure have been busy.

13.01.2022 #NationalCommunityConnection Meet Jasmine, a lovely, bright and caring, 15 year old Victorian student, who is currently studying for the Duke of Edinburgh award. Jasmine wrote to residents at Seabrae Manor to ask if they would like to be pen pals. It's been a long few months for Jasmine, spending her days at home due to the restrictions in Victoria. During this time she thought about the impacts of residents living in Aged Care, and wanted to start a pen pal system. Her ai...m was to provide some joy to residents especially in a time like now. To get to know and connect through their letters and give them something to look forward to. Audrey and Patsy have taken up Jasmine's offer and over the past 3 months have written letters to her. They are so excited when they receive her letters, it really makes their day. Thank you Jasmine for thinking of us. For showing initiative & kindness, to help connect people and make new friends. Keep up the amazing work.

13.01.2022 A bonnie afternoon was held today, where our Scottish ladies searched their Clan and Coat of Arms on the map of Clans. They sang Loch Lomond and listened to Scotland the Brave. Reminisced well known Scottish places and childhood memories. And discovered they were from the same Clan, made it even more special. The land on which Seabrae Manor is built, "Buchanan Street" was the home to our Buchanan family residents and holds special significance in Glasgow, Scotland. Special guest, Edinburgh Tattoo Piper - Booked

12.01.2022 #MtEverestAmazingWalk #TeamSeabrae We did it!!!!! Residents and staff completed the 10 week walking program, and you won't believe how many steps they did.... Residents clocked 683,659 steps. (reached the summit 11times) Staff clocked 1,842,499 steps (49 times) Our 94 year old resident, Lyal climbed the summit 2.5 times, on her own. Closely followed by Clare, 2.25 times. An amazing effort by both ladies. Residents joined in our walking groups, seated step classes, dancing, exercises and individual walking to get their steps up. Some with different levels of mobility joined in, adding their steps or arm movements to our tally. The physical benefits of walking, along with the emotional & social well being is important, in times like these. We also discovered a new culture, by learning about the people of Nepal & Tibet, and our theme song "These boots were made for walking". A huge thank you to our staff, physiotherapist, support crew, @Screen printing Dynamics and Angie for providing this intiative to improve and enhance the well being of our residents.

12.01.2022 An active day today with a game of ten pin bowling, balance beam & music class and a leisurely stroll with our morning walking group.

12.01.2022 It's official !!! Betty's Way was officially opened today. Residents attended the official and entertaining ribbon cutting ceremony. Thank you to Betty Wall and Director, Lindsay Bender for doing the honours. To Lindsay & Lisa Bender we were so glad you could join us, and hope to see you both again soon.

11.01.2022 Perfect weather for our bus trip to Pine Rivers Dam. A great spot to relax, enjoy the scenery and have morning tea with friends.

10.01.2022 We are getting in early for our "March is Music Month" theme. We had our first Pearly Shells dance practise today. We laughed a lot, swayed our hands, ate fresh baked bread and laughed some more. If we're feeling brave we may even perform for our March Hawaiian Happy Hour We also opened our Optus telescope box and was thankful for a helping hand. Can't wait to use it. Domestic bliss time, we cooked Italian bread, washed up, folded the laundry, played card bingo, spent time in the courtyard with bubbles, music, sports and found time to chill. And that was just our Moreton residents.

06.01.2022 #MelbournCupTake2 #SeabraePhotoSpam Our photoshoot was a hoot. The winners of our best dressed in the field, went to Jewell, Doreen & staff, Dionne our new receptionist. There were plenty of sweeps, and our champagne complimented the delicious smoked chicken slaw, prawn tails with avocado & mango salsa for lunch, perfectly.... All in all, a fab Melbourne Cup day. Time to put our feet up. See more

03.01.2022 You can't beat a Friday afternoon Happy Hour, where we pass the mic to willing and at times unsuspecting participants, both residents and staff. Music, dancing, good times. We also enjoyed a tasty family recipe vegetarian nutmeat patties, courtesy of Marie. And almost forgot our Bus trip to the beautiful country side, Dayboro and it's famous bakery.... Have a great weekend all.
