24.01.2022 Hey Sea Changers, Please take note of the update below ! The Hunter is not immune to COVID-19! If in doubt, Stay home & Get Tested!!

24.01.2022 Boris Johnson’s close call with COVID has resulted in a huge financial and social campaign against obesity in the UK and the NHS. What will it take for the Australian government to make a similar commitment? A great starting point would be the public funding of obesity surgery in our public hospital system! https://www.smh.com.au//boris-johnson-s-new-tactic-against

23.01.2022 Register for our free weight loss webinar on 17 June. Our surgeons will explain everything you need to know about weight loss surgery, answer your questions, and talk you through the holistic Sea Change approach to long-term weight loss. https://seachangeclinic.com.au/education-evenings/

23.01.2022 An excerpt of the speech Delivered to German Parliament.... Ladies and gentlemen, people suffering from obesity are inadequately treated; our colleague Mrs Dittmar referred to this. It is not enough for a patient to go to the doctor and have him or her simply tell them to eat a little less and exercise a little more. That is not sufficient therapy. There is a lack of interdisciplinary, professional outpatient treatment. There is a lack of training programmes for patients. But... there is also a lack of understanding for those affected and of information about the disease. Unfortunately, the only thing that the affected people experience in abundance is mockery and ridicule. We will not resign ourselves to this, and we will now also work to ensure that something changes in this country. Well done to the German Parliament for recognition of this chronic disease, a progressive and productive approach indeed!

22.01.2022 https://www.smh.com.au//coronavirus-analysis-shows-weight- As we learn more about Covid-19, the association between higher weight and disease severity is becoming clearer. Looking forward to seeing all of the emerging literature on this topic undergoing peer review to clarify this likely link.

21.01.2022 At Sea Change we are following the Amber Alert notification made by NSW Health. Patients and staff will be wearing masks during patient interactions. If you are coming in to see us in person, Please BRING A MASK, it helps to keep you and our staff safe. Thank you

20.01.2022 An elegant model of care to treat a chronic disease. As health professionals we need to discuss obesity, and manage it holistically. Looking at the scales is only one measure, and probably not the most important one.

17.01.2022 https://www.europeanscientist.com//covid-19-and-the-elep/ An interesting perspective regarding the relationship between Covid-19 risk and the obese patient. Maybe this crisis will help our health systems pro-actively treat obesity in the future #seachange

17.01.2022 Good News!! The lights are back on at the clinic! We are back in the office at Sea Change Weight Loss Clinic. We will be transitioning back to Face-to-Face consultations over the next few weeks. Hope to see you soon.... at an appropriate social distance, of course.

14.01.2022 In accordance with recent announcements from the federal government, Sea Change announces a resumption of some category 2 and 3 elective surgery. This includes all general surgery and potentially some bariatric (i.e. weight loss) surgery, only at a reduced capacity. This is an evolving situation with frequent and ongoing discussions between all major stakeholders, but we are advocating for our patients. We will continue to correspond with patients regarding dates for surgery ...with a view to scheduling bariatric procedures as early as possible. We are also transitioning back to seeing patients face-to-face in our rooms shortly, though Telehealth may still be utilised for follow-up consultations.
