25.01.2022 Hello, sun in my face. Hello, you who made the morning and spread it over the fields... and into the faces of the tulips and the nodding morning glories, and into the windows of, even, the miserable and the crotchety best preacher that ever was, dear star, that just happens to be where you are in the universe to keep us from ever-darkness, to ease us with warm touching, to hold us in the great hands of light good morning, good morning, good morning. Watch, now, how I start the day in happiness, in kindness. Mary Oliver

21.01.2022 Two Goals in Human Life In the Tantrik View, there are two goals in human life: worldly success and spiritual liberation. The former consists of learning h...ow to successfully negotiate the challenges of embodiment. Creating sufficient harmony and balance in relation to one's work, family, mental and physical health, and so on gives rise to worldly happiness, the ability to simply enjoy life (bhoga). Unlike all the pre-Tantrik forms of yoga, Tantra does not reject this goal, but actually provides tools to achieve it. The second goal or purpose of human life is seemingly very different: to achieve a spiritual liberation that entails a deep and quiet joy that is utterly independent of one's life circumstances, a joy in simply existing, free from all mind-created suffering (moksha). Tantra does not see these goals as necessarily mutually exclusive: you can strive for greater happiness and success (bhoga) while at the same time cultivating a practice that will enable you to deeply love your life even if it doesn't go the way you want at all (moksha). It's a win-win proposition. But the tradition correctly points out that unless the former activity (bhoga) is subordinate to the latter (moksha), it is likely that the pursuit of bhoga will take over. Find out why this outcome is potentially regrettable by purchasing Hareesh’s book The Recognition Sutras and dive deep into these teachings and more. 11.01.2022 The mirror... Often, we fear being judged so much that we build a fortress around ourselves and create a careful persona that can be presented to the world. We ...protect and defend this persona inside the fortress from being judged, called out, looked down on... Of course, we do what we do because we innocently think the judgment comes from out there. It turns out that what we really fear is not anyone or anything out there. The real issue is that *we* believe the very thing about ourselves that we dislike being judged on. The anxiety here is about looking in the mirror. If, for instance, I believe that I am unworthy, it’s exceedingly painful when someone else triggers my own conviction. I project my anger and hurt on to the other person and conclude that my conflict is with them when in reality it is with myself. If, on the other hand, I have no such belief about my worthiness, it makes no difference to me what anyone else says. They can call me unworthy but it remains a non-issue. The path of self-reflection is about taking responsibility for our own stuff. We bravely tear the fortress down and learn to look in the mirror. In the ultimate analysis, it makes no difference why we believe limiting thoughts or who was responsible for them. The point here is to see clearly that both devas and asuras operate in our own minds. The conflict within is reflected without as the disagreements we have with others. Remove the inner conflict and peace becomes a lived experience. Pic: Vince Fleming on #unsplashphoto #sabdasra #essentialteachings #yoginitantra #nonduality #kavithamd

09.01.2022 Tapas... The question that comes up most often when I’m teaching is, How do I progress on the spiritual path? The answer always is: tapas. ... While tapas is translated in many ways including austerity, in practical application, it’s the willingness to do the same thing again and again and again. Boredom is one of the biggest obstacles to sdhana. Long before we have mastered a technique, we fall into boredom and look for something else. Spiritual materialism is the default, where we keep looking for the next hit. Biochemically, it’s like we hit the dopamine threshold and the technique no longer provides the excitement of newness. Tapas is to overcome this old pathway, by practicing the same mantra, breath or other technique again and again. And again. For as long as it takes. Maybe a few lifetimes... It’s the same with lifestyle changes - the willingness to eat the same dal and rice day after day, week after week, month after month... A miraculous change takes place with this approach. Boredom gives way to clarity, where the same old makes way for the freshness of every experience. New neurohormonal pathways are forged. We are no longer dependent on the next hit. The heat of tapas makes way for the nectar of grace. 07.01.2022 Ais will be taking some time to care for her beautiful Mum moving forward and may not be at classes from time to time. If Ais isn’t there, you will see one of t...hese gorgeous faces taking yoga. Meet Teagan Teagan will be taking some of our LIVE yoga sessions over the next few weeks on Soul Fit Live! Teagan Barnett Yoga Teacher and Massage Therapist Teagan has had an interest in yoga since attending her first class in high school for school sport. She was amazed at the feeling of lightness & freedom combined with groundedness & the ability to focus with more ease. From then on she was hooked & in 2017 she commenced her 200hr teacher training with Ray of Light in Bulli. During her training over 10 months, Teagan became immensely passionate about yoga once learning of the deep philosophy involved & the incredible transformative effects yoga can have on people’s lives, including her own. Yoga can lead people to less suffering & more joy as it teaches them to rely less on the outside world for gratification & to seek contentment from within. On completing her teacher training in November 2017, her life’s purpose became apparent. Teagan loves to share the wisdom of yoga through her yoga classes, intricately theming each class with a message from ancient yogic philosophy & intelligent sequence design. She understands that each person is unique, so aims to provide a variety of tools & techniques that cater for all. Her classes strictly follow the principles of Viniyoga, a style founded by the grandfather of modern yoga, Shri T. Krishnamacharya. This style of yoga will particularly benefit those suffering from physical or mental ailments in their life looking for a way to improve their health & wellbeing & lead a more calm & blissful life. Meet Penny Penny practices and teaches yoga for the amazing way it cuts through the noise of Life, taking us inward to a place of joyful calm. A back injury and episodes of anxiety turned out to be love notes from the Universe, changing Penny's life. Yoga was pivotal in recovery and finding a deeper connection with herself. Through focus on breath led practices, Penny invites students to explore their inner experience as they align body, mind and soul. Penny has been teaching hatha yoga since 2018, having completed training with Ray of Light Yoga, The Practice Bali and ayurveda with Brad Hay Yoga. An avid student, Penny is currently immersed in meditation teaching training, more yoga training and learning photography this year. Having been busy studying during lockdown, Penny is now on a mission to get fit (stop puffing and panting while walking up hills!). She is an early morning swimmer, loves laughing, loves her 2 grandchildren in Fremantle, reads a LOT and is on first name basis with most local baristas given her (once a day) coffee addiction.
