25.01.2022 Finding breast cancer early provides the best chance of surviving the disease. Remember you don’t need to be an expert or use a special technique to check your breasts. Changes to look for include: * a new lump or lumpiness, especially if it's only in one breast * a change in the size or shape of your breast * a change to the nipple, such as crusting, ulcer, redness or inversion... * a nipple discharge that occurs without squeezing * a change in the skin of your breast such as redness or dimpling * an unusual pain that doesn't go away. Most changes aren’t due to breast cancer but it’s important to see your doctor without delay if you notice any of these changes. See more

22.01.2022 What is advance care planning? Advance care planning is important for patients, families and health professionals. It involves you, your loved ones and health professionals talking about your values and the type of health care you would want to receive if you became seriously ill or injured and were unable to say what you want. Ideally these conversations start when you are well and continue throughout your illness. ... Your wishes should be documented to help your loved ones and health professionals when making decisions about your care when you are no longer able to do so. You do not have to have a terminal illness to start talking with your loved ones and health professionals about your wishes. Like making a will and appointing a power of attorney or enduring power of attorney, advance care planning may simply be a part of planning for the future. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au///advance-care-planning.aspx See more

07.01.2022 A lot of blokes think it's weak to admit that they're going through a tough time. This myth has been reinforced across generations of men but it’s just not true. When you’re experiencing anxiety or depression, you can't just 'snap out of it' or ‘pull yourself together'. You wouldn’t try to fix a broken leg on your own without going to the doctor for help. So why do so many blokes try to ‘fix’ anxiety and depression on their own? Anxiety and depression are just like any other medical condition you need to have an action plan to manage your recovery and get better. https://www.beyondblue.org.au/who-does-it-a//taking-action

02.01.2022 Why do I need a Power of Attorney? It is a good idea to have a Power of Attorney in place in case something happens to you and you suffer from temporary or permanent loss of capacity. This could happen at any time because of illness, injury or disability. If you do not have a Power of Attorney in place, a court or tribunal may appoint someone to manage your finances. You can also appoint an attorney to pay your bills and manage your finances for many reasons, including if:... * you're travelling or living abroad * you temporarily or permanently lose capacity through illness, injury or disability * you wish to have someone else with experience to manage your finances. https://www.tag.nsw.gov.au//make-power/what-power-attorney See more
