23.01.2022 It is a major concern that not only are fish facing the threat of extreme coral reef habitat loss, but also the threat of microplastic consumption and as a result loss of life.

22.01.2022 Westernport Bay in Victoria is home to an array of marine animals including Australian fur seals, Southeastern Southern right whales, humpback whales and weedy sea dragons. Yet, AGL Energy want to turn Westernport Bay into a massive gas import terminal that would threaten these precious animals and increase climate pollution from dirty fossil fuels. Victoria can and must do better than giving the green light to potentially destructive projects like this. Sea Shepherd Austr...alia stands with Phillip Island Conservation Society and Preserve Western Port Action Group in calling for the protection of this wetland sanctuary. 21.01.2022 Fishing gear is a death trap for marine animals. The turtle had entered the open side of the crab pot and had appeared to chew through the opposite side in an attempt to free herself, she said. This turtle’s story was clear to see. - Campaign Photographer, Lyndal Carmichael https://www.seashepherd.org.au/latest-news/mulgumpin-turtle/

17.01.2022 Direction Island in the Cocos Keeling Islands was the fourth island forming part of our remote clean-up campaign. This uninhabited island is a tropical paradise... with the atoll’s best snorkelling, so it’s no wonder the lagoon beach called Cossie’s has been voted ‘Australia’s Best Beach’. On the windward side of the island, however, tides, waves and the wind push ocean plastics onto the rocky shores. 12.01.2022 Once thought to be consumer items are now sitting on the oceans floor, even at depths of 3000m. - "Analysis of ocean sediments from as deep as 3km suggests there could be more than 30 times as much plastic at the bottom of the world’s ocean than there is floating at the surface." #PLASTICCRISIS #PLASTICKILLS #FORTHEOCEAN #BANSINGLEUSEPLASTICS #CHOOSETOREUSE

12.01.2022 This weekend! We hope to see you there! #seashepherdnewcastle #ForTheOceans

10.01.2022 Click on 'Get Reminder' and tune in to the premiere! Cocos (Keeling) Islands is a remote Australian Territory in the middle of the Indian Ocean. CKI is home to the second biggest population of reef sharks in the world and approximately 30,000 Green Sea and Hawksbill turtles. Unfortunately ocean currents push millions of marine debris into the atoll. The Sea Shepherd crew worked tirelessly to remove many extremely threatening marine debris from the lagoon and islands shores. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers involved.

01.01.2022 Catching up with some friends online lead to a discussion about our old friendship bands that we made at school. These bands from embroidery thread last for a v...ery time, so is a either a nice gift idea or you can make them for yourself. Choosing the colours on a very limited budget was one of the toughest decisions we made at school. You could select some beautiful marine blue and green colours to make a band. There are two links below of simple bands to make, though as always there are a lot of free tutorials available online. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCBGya6L7oQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U8h7Fl3jMU #seashepherdmarinedebriscampaign #stemthetide #socialdistancing #stayhome
