12.01.2022 Having been disappointed at losing to Ipswich at the weekend Blackpool look to get back on track to squeeze the teams above them closer and therefore pursue the play off positions. Tuesday nights fixture is re-arranged because of Covid so we welcome Burton Albion and anyone thinking this is an easy 3 points with Burton being bottom of the table would have to re-think that thought given they beat top of table Hull city last time out. No news yet of Gary Madine returning to the... fray (groin injury) so I expect Critchley to put out a similar team to the one that faced Ipswich but hoping for a much better defensive performance. A couple of the players got knock on Saturday but are expected to make the game. Burton are feeling pretty pleased with themselves with the 3 points gained on Saturday that brings them within distance of those just outside the relegation place. Burton were active in the January transfer window and I want to mention one of their signings Terry Taylor(Pic below). Terry is a player I know personally having worked at the same football club his father played for . He is 19 years old coming through the youth ranks at Wolves and he is no stranger to Bloomfield road as he was in the Wolves U21 team that lost 1-0 to Blackpool in the Papa John Trophy in 2019. Terry made his senior debut for Wolves against Aston villa in another cup competition and went on loan to Grimsby working under Ian Holloway but was recalled by Wolves and eventually signed for Burton. He is also a member of the Wales U21 squad. Like all youngsters what he lacks in experience he will make up for in enthusiasm so he will need to be kept quiet whenever he steps onto the hallowed green of Bloomers. I want the bragging rights over Terry's dad Graeme! Having beaten Burton earlier in the season at their ground we can hopefully be optimistic of doing the double and adding another 3 points but it will not be a pushover. 06.01.2022 Blackpool failed to add another win to the previous back to back victories as the Tractor boys scored either side of half time to stifle the Pools recent confidence. Gary Madine was missing again which suggests an injury is preventing Neil Critchely from using his target man! Ipswich had lost their previous two home games which would have given some optimism for getting some form of result. Blackpool threatened enough in the first half with Ekipetas headed effort just going w...ide. Husband and Thornily both had decent efforts before the Ipswich keeper Holy was saying his prayers as he made a good save form Embleton's long range shot. Ipswich had a lot of possession but squandered in the last third until Freddie Sears was put clean through to put Ipswich ahead. However it was ruled offside to Maxwell.s relief. two minutes before half-time the Tractor boys took the lead when Judge hit a low powerful shot that Maxwell couldnt get to and leave the Pool behind at the break. Half time Ipswich 1-0 Blackpool They always say a goal just before half time and one just after can often decide the outcome of the game and Blackpool must have forgot this because Ipswich were 2-0 up on 49 minutes. Maxwell made a good save from Sears and from the resultant corner Wolfenden head home to give the clear advantage to the home side. The Pool tried to get back into the game but failed to penetrate the Ipswich defence. Epiketa came to Blackpool's rescue making a timely intervention on Edwards. The ball drifted to Sears whose shot just went past the post. On came the subs with 10 minutes to go and efforts from Mitchell and Ward couldn't get the Pool back into the tie as the game petered out the final whistle left the Seasiders dejected and another 3 points for the taking just a memory! Still midtable with the potential to catch one or two teams above us Tuesday will bring the visit of bottom club Burton who had an exceptional win over leaders Hull city so nothing in this division is an easy game! 06.01.2022 The game against Peterborough tomorrow is postponed. Lets keep our fingers crossed for the game against Rochdale goes ahead on Tuesday night!

01.01.2022 Blackpool return to action tonight against Rochdale at Bloomfield road. Having missed out on two games due to the frozen pitch the recent thaw is a welcome blessing to Neil Critchley and the players who surely must be itching to get on the park. The opponents tonight are our Lancashire rivals Rochdale who are known to score quite a few goals but also concede. So Im sure the Blackpool defence will have to work hard to keep the Rochdale strikers out and at the same time provide the support to the Blackpool front in their quest for goals. This is gonna be a tough one to call especially as injured players may not be ready for the fray tonight.
