22.01.2022 Hey there (year 12 mod here), I'd like to continue that sentiment the other mod started. I wasn't the closest with Emiliano, but I still think he was an outstanding bloke. I'm truly saddened by the fact that his life, one on the verge of truly beginning, is now over. Once again as the year 11 mod aptly put, we aren't afraid to speak out about things like this, simply because we truly hope that these posts help another lost individual struggling with suicidal thoughts and othe...r mental disorders. As I said, I wasn't close with Emiliano but I've spent 5 years growing up amongst him and suffice it to say, he was an absolutely amazing and caring person. He was charming, witty and generally fun to be around. I truly wish I'd noticed something, anything to tip me off that this tragedy was to occur because I'd have done anything to avoid it, we all would have. I know it can seem hard to ask someone for help (I often fall victim to this) or ask if someone is doing ok but these thing really do play a part in the bigger picture. Those small positives add up over time and can prevent another tragedy like this from occuring. All those resources that Seaton provides (the hub, the councillors and the psychologists) often feel meaningless out of fear of asking for help, but if you truly want help, ask a friend to go with you, ask a teacher to write a note. The moral is share that burden amongst those you trust cos funnily enough, they care about you and will wanna help you. I know many of my peers that were close to Emiliano will inevitably blame themselves for not seeing the signs. I can tell them that it's not their fault infinitely many times but everyone grieves differently and even I can't change that. I can only hope that eventually you get the closure you need and very much deserve. I personally don't believe in an afterlife, but if there is one and you are watching us Emiliano, please come back, we beg you. May you rest in peace Emiliano. 17.01.2022 This isn't the sort of post I'd usually make on this page but I think it's important to use this platform I have in light of recent events. Whether you love or hate this page I have a platform to talk to a lot of the Seaton students and I'm going to use it. For those of you who don't know, a year 12 committed suicide. I'm not going to pretend that I know who he was or that I've even talked to him (our other admin is a year 12 who likely knew him though), but nonetheless it is... tragic. I'm someone who has struggled with mental health issues and thoughts of suicide so this really hit close to home for me. Please, people with mental health issues reach out to your friends, reach out to counselling services, reach out to anyone who will listen, because there are people who care, you will be missed. The responsibility isn't just on mentally ill people to reach out though, you, the people who are friends with people who are mentally ill or just having a rough time need to reach out to them as well. Whether it's just checking up on them or even inviting them out knowing they won't come, but inviting them will at least make them feel included, make them feel like someone cares. As much as I make fun of Seaton we do have places to go while we're feeling like this. We have the hub where we can talk to one of the counsellors, get referred to a psychologist in or out of the school, get referred to somewhere like headspace or cahms (from personal experience, I recommend headspace), or even just to chill out and relax away from everyone else when you're having a hard time. Take advantage of these resources while you still have access to them. I'm going to leave some links and phone numbers here for anyone who's struggling with mental health or is having a hard time with recent events. This is a time where we as a school need to come together to support each other regardless of our differences. 08.01.2022 This isn't a meme but more of an advertisement that an ex seaton student has requested we put up here. They are offering cheap ass tutoring sessions in a bunch of subjects so take a look if thats the sort of thing you need. Anyway here's their message, "Hey yall after completing year 12 I wanna start tutoring/helping other students so that they have the edge in whatever they want to accomplish. Subjects Im willing/able to tutor/help out with:... Mathematics (All years (8-12) and all courses e.g. essentials, general, methods etc.) (for reference I passed Stage One Methods with an A and Stage One Spec with an A-) Sciences (Years (8-10)) Physics (Stage One and Two) (for reference I passed Stage One Physics with a B+) Research Project (for reference I passed RP with a A-) As for money, I dont ask for a lot and Im willing to be flexible with it but the baseline would be about $20/hour. As for location, once again Im fairly flexible but public libraries in the city or near my place (Parks Community Centre) are a good place to start.
