25.01.2022 Look what Woodgate residents woke up to this morning! Get excited for turtle season - it’s just around the corner. They don’t think the green laid - just up for a visit. Photo credit @Yevett Cowan.

22.01.2022 Great news for the turtles!!!!

21.01.2022 There have been a number of times when people have brought hatchlings into the Mon Repos Centre as they were worried about them. If you see hatchlings running down the beach walk beside them and watch them enter the water. By dong this you are helping protect them from birds and crabs. This little one was safely released today and is now off surfing the Eastern Australian Current.

21.01.2022 Great to see more local businesses making a difference. Thank you Casablanca On See

19.01.2022 Interesting read

18.01.2022 A pilot study at Mon Repos Conservation Park will trial approaches to cooling turtle nesting beaches to restore the normal ratio of male and female hatchlings.... The study is part of the $5.9 million Green Turtle Research and Protection Program launched by the Morrison Government to preserve and nurture the world’s largest green turtle population on the Great Barrier Reef. The study will trial how to effectively cool turtle nesting beaches to temperatures that are likely to produce a higher proportion of male hatchlings. The aim is to conduct the experimental work at Mon Repos in the first instance, with a view to applying positive results at important sites for the northern Great Barrier Reef green turtle population.

10.01.2022 Today we have launched our public awareness campaign aimed at our local community and visitors to the region. This campaign aims to highlight how everyone can play their part in making a real difference in the support of endangered sea turtles. It was great to have the St Luke's Anglican School Preppies there to be the first to see our videos. Funded by the Commonwealth Government’s - Communities Environment Program (CEP), our campaign focuses on educating and increasing public awareness of nesting turtles and their hatchlings. Links will be in the following posts and we ask you to help us share the message by sharing these with your family and friends.

07.01.2022 Congratulations to Trish Garrad and the students at St Josephs Catholic Primary School Bundaberg on this great initiative. The students have designed some signs to increase awareness of the issue of cigarette butts in the environment and encourage smokers to think about where they discard their next cigarette butt. After all, every butt in the bin for the Reef is a win!
