20.01.2022 The children in the Ocean Room have been loving exploring their new dramatic play area - "SeaView Farmers Market". Using imagination, creativity and communication skills, children have been able to purchase beautiful fresh produce, perform live music, and enjoy a picnic with their peers. As an extension of this we will be adding some fresh herbs for the children to tend to in the coming days.

20.01.2022 Over the past week at SeaView we have seen both rooms having a makeover to extend on childrens interests. In the Ocean Room we have begun learning about Space & Galaxies, exploring some big words and concepts including "zero-gravity" and "atmosphere". In the Beach Room we have begun learning about Jungle Animals, their habitats, lifestyles, prey and environments.

19.01.2022 At SeaView Preschool we value the importance of Learning Through Play.

18.01.2022 LEARNING THROUGH PLAY Using our beautiful Milestones & Mayhem sight words. The children in the Ocean Room have enjoyed facilitating their own learning, practicing the first 100 sight words, by randomly selecting the words and attempting to write them. ... This experience builds upon childrens fine motor development and letter formation and recognition and extends on childrens persistence.

18.01.2022 At SeaView Preschool, we believe in building childrens character and guiding them in life-long values such as kindness, resilience, empathy, acceptance and respect. One way we encourage values and build character is through the use of literature. We highly recommend the book "Were All Wonders", which is the childrens adaptation of the recent book "Wonder.", which we have used to encourage conversation around unconditional kindness, and valuing others.

17.01.2022 "Dreams is very mystical things" the BFG said. "Human Beans is not understanding them at all, not even the brainiest professors is understanding them." We think Chloe makes a lovely Sophie...we just hope she doesnt get gobbled up!

17.01.2022 The children in the Ocean Room have been taking an interest in "Nature Play" and "Transitioning to School". These interests are reflected in our Learning Environments.

17.01.2022 Some of the local playgrounds are being upgraded. What a great opportunity to have your say, share your thoughts and ideas, and contribute to our local community.

16.01.2022 At SeaView Preschool we value the environment as the third educator. We believe that physical spaces hold the potential to influence how each child learns. We believe in creating natural and earth conscious environments for children to explore and discover, and in which children are supported to become environmentally responsible.

15.01.2022 Never underestimate the power of learning through play. At SeaView Preschool we value the importance of scaffolding childrens learning by using Intentional Teaching through a play based curriculum.

13.01.2022 Today at SeaView we enjoyed a special morning to celebrate our ANZACs in respect and preparation for the Public Holiday tomorrow. We began our day with a discussion about "What is ANZAC Day?" The children shared their thoughts; "Its a day when no one goes to work or school"... "Its a day when we watch the marching" "Its when we thank the soldiers for helping us live free" We then extended on this by doing some beautiful red poppy paintings, as well as baking some ANZAC biscuits. At 11am, we listened to the Last Post & had a minute silence. We hope all of our families have a wonderful day tomorrow, enjoying the ANZAC Day Public Holiday with family & friends.

11.01.2022 We would like to say a big thank you for our newest resource. With rewards from parents purchases from Educational Experience, we were able to purchase an Eco-System Fish Tank. In the past week, we have welcomed two fish to our SeaView family; a black moor fish named "Mikey", and a goldfish named "Lightning McQueen". We have also seen a tremendous amount of growth from our plants which have sprouted from seeds and are growing rapidly.... Our eco-system uses water from the tank to grow the plants, and the plants in turn filter and clean the tank. We have been very excited watching this process take place over the past week, and look forward to seeing the changes as they progress over the coming weeks.

11.01.2022 This week the children in the Ocean Room worked collaboratively to create their very own Berry & Banana Smoothie Ice-Blocks. We had some requests from the children to post a "list" explaining how to make our healthy treat. STEP ONE: Put bananas & mixed berries into the blender... STEP TWO: Add preferred yoghurt flavour (we used Vanilla) STEP THREE: Blend until smoothie consistency STEP FOUR: Pour into ice-block moulds and place in freezer to set STEP FIVE: Take out once frozen AND ENJOY!!!! 10.01.2022 In the Ocean Room we have been learning about Australian & Indigenous culture. As an extension of this, we have built a humpy in our classroom A humpy (or gunyah) is a small, temporary shelter, traditionally used by Australian Aboriginals, with a standing tree usually used as the main support. They are also sometimes called a lean-to, since it can rely on the tree for support. Our humpy is surrounded by various Aboriginal instruments & Australian animals, and the children have been enjoying engaging in corroboree with their friends.

We also believe that this encourages children to have a sense of belonging to our Preschool environment.

05.01.2022 This week our Ocean Room had a bit of an overhaul, with the addition of a new "Fairy Garden." We collaborated with childrens voice, to discover the things that should be found in a fairy garden - "ponies", "pebbles", "secret doors", "mushrooms", "glitter", "clouds", "flowers", "bugs" and "unicorns". (NQS 5.2.1 - Each child is supported to work with, learn from, and help others through collaborative learning opportunities.)... "Imagination is more important than knowledge.
