25.01.2022 Phew..... its been a of a week waiting for clarification on what the stage 4 restrictions mean for SHG. But heres what we know: During Stage 4 Restrictions, the DHHS has advised that all Allied Health face to face appointments are for URGENT cases only. ... This means..... OSTEO & PODIATRY appointments remain available under strict guidelines. What is classified as URGENT? If your condition is going to deteriorate to the point where you can no longer care for yourself or a family member. your condition will escalate & you require a GP consult or hospital visit. But dont worry, we have a pre-consult screening protocol in place to ensure urgent criteria is met. NO routine appointments. Massage/ Myotherapy/ Exercise Physiology/ Personal Training & Pilates will NOT be available during this time. Online bookings will be unavailable during this time to allow us to triage patients effectively. We will be running on shorter hours during this time so calls may not be answered immediately. Existing patients CAN travel outside their 5km limit, however new patients are advised to seek care closer to home. Please know that we are still HERE FOR YOU, if you are in pain & your condition is affecting your ability to perform regular daily tasks please get in touch & we can provide advice & management over the phone or via email. We are in the process of contacting all of our patients who have future appointments. We need to REDUCE MOVEMENT TO SAVE LIVES, lets fight this together! THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT, The Team @SHG.

24.01.2022 Hey guys and girls, Max here. Today Im sharing with you my favorite stretch for increasing mobility of the thoracic spine (your mid-back). If you wanted to follow this link, or click on the video below there is a simple instructional on how to use two household towels to provide one of the most comfortable rehab exercises that you can do almost anywhere. I find this exercise as a very effective starting place for the in-home management of conditions such as mid-back/thorac...ic pain, low back pain, headaches and neck pain, as well as a variety of other conditions. A few reason why I find this particular exercise so effective for most of my patients are: - The spongy texture of the towels provides a custom molding against the curvatures of your spine. - Increasing the mobility of the thoracic spine, and focused deep breathing, will increase the ability of our rib cage to expand. - Slow deep breathing aids in slowing down our flight/flight response to stresses from the day, and stimulates our rest/digest pathways, also known as the parasympathetic nervous system. This function is really important in creating a break between daily functions and sleep. I have found that this alone can really help my patients, when they have trouble getting to sleep after a busy day. - This exercise can be done nearly anywhere! I think its the most effective done right before sleep, or after long periods of inactivity. Length plane trips, or car rides are the perfect example. I can go on for many more pages about the reason why I love this exercise, but I think Ill leave it there for now. Time to start rolling those towels, Max

16.01.2022 Huge congratulations to a regular patient David Brophy for completing the Oxfam walk, what a massive achievement! We're glad the team here played a role in helping you get through the walk. Thanks for sending us some photos and some kind words :) "Hi, I'd just like to say thanks to the team at Seaview Health. We completed the Oxfam event in 20 hours 41 minutes, 57th overall from 612 starting teams and in 34th place of the teams that completed the event with all four team mem...bers. My Oxfam renaissance owes a fair bit to the help I've had from the various practitioners at Seaview Health. Several years ago, struggling to even get to the starting line for my third Oxfam, further attempts weren't on the radar. It's very pleasing to have now completed two more Oxfam's without any major issues. And apart from being very tired at the end the body probably behaved better this year than last year. Please pass on my thanks to David, Peter, Meagan, et al." See more
