12.01.2022 Installing the 2019 Toys R Us CATS Exhibition runs from tomorrow 28/10/19 and closes 1/11/19. Toys R Us references childhood psychology and how it relates to art and life, the show responds through a multitude of ways, often using artists personal analogies as a way in which to understand complex theory. Toys R Us is collaboratively curated by Unimelb Faculty of Fine Arts Southbank critical and and theoretical studies and involves artists across different disciplines to ref...lect on their own understanding of childhood. Elizabeth Presa teaches Toys R Us CATS. Toys R Us involves itself explicitly with stages of childhood, and how they consequently inform our later stages of life. Henceforth, the project relates directly to children, youth, and adult age groups, as well as familial relations. Beyond ages, the project is concerned with humanity; our roots as children, our first influences and interests which later formed us as individuals, and the wider community. From here, Toys R Us is concerned with ethnic and racial groups, examining the similarities of all of our experiences as children, perhaps before cultural divides became taught to us. Furthermore, the artists involved come from varying cultural backgrounds. The project considers childhood as the platform from which we all began, and notes on how we grew in different directions. @ Second Space Projects
