19.01.2022 Tell us! How can we best support you?

18.01.2022 Ever have thoughts like "I don't know who I am" or "I don't know what to do now"? As humans, we can start all over again as many times as we deem necessary. We can follow a variety of paths. We don't need to hold onto the past in order to have a future. #selfworth #selfesteem #newbeginnings #mindful #acceptance #lettinggo #hopeful

14.01.2022 I've learned a lot about myself since my suicide attempt. Here are my top 3 self discoveries: Connection to others is more valuable than I ever thought I have a tendency to set unrealistic expectations Action does precede motivation... As a result, I now... Connect with people I can truly relate to on a daily basis I practice self-compassion regularly I try things despite low energy or desire, the motivation follows What have you learned about yourself and how has it changed your way of being or doing? #selfawareness #attemptsurvivor #suicideprevention #mentalwellbeing #selfdiscovery #healingjourney #recoveryjourney #mentalhealthmonth #TuneIn #motivation #self #connection #selfcompassion #learning #stilllearning #expectations #WMHD2020 #youarenotalone #inthistogether #mindful #healthandwellbeing #menshealth #womenshealth #mentalhealth #depression

12.01.2022 I used to believe I was broken beyond repair. For years it stopped me from participating in life. I realised that I'd only ever be existing if I didn't challenge my belief and create a new one.

11.01.2022 30 day self care challenge update. Day One Hydration. The challenge? Drink 8 glasses of water throughout the day. Here’s what we noticed: I didn’t feel as tired. I didn’t feel the need to have a nap in the afternoon.... I didn’t need to snack as often during the day. I felt like I could concentrate more. I never realised I wasn’t drinking enough water and how that was impacting me. What’s the link between hydration and mental health? Research has linked dehydration to depression and anxiety, because mental health is driven primarily by your brain's activity. It is important to think of water as a nutrient your brain needs. It’s not too late to join the self-care challenge! Visit our website to sign up https://www.secondsteps.com.au/upcoming-events *The Australian Dietary Guidelines recommend: 8 cups of water for female adults 10 cups of water for male adults

06.01.2022 There's a difference between recovering and healing... One is permanent. If you’re trying to restore yourself to the person you were before you got hurt, you’re trying to recover. If you’re ready to shed your old self and become someone entirely new, you’re ready to heal.

04.01.2022 Recovery used to frustrate me until I realised, there's no race to the finish line. Recovery is a journey, not a destination.

03.01.2022 The journey of healing is rarely a linear process. Here's our lived experience take on the ups and downs: 1. It's natural and common to be fearful of things going downhill 2. Over time, the downs become less frequent and or less intense... 3. Eventually, your toolbox of skills will help you to prevent a bump in the road from becoming a mountain 4. Prevention is easier than cure - It's wise to seek support when you notice the bump in the road 5. Allow yourself time and space to manage the journey of healing What has your journey taught you about healing? #suicideprevention #livedexperience #peersupport #peerworker #support #healing #recovery #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmonth #attemptsurvivor #suicideattempt #mentalwellbeing #recoveryjourney #relapse #relapseprevention #mentalillness #depression #anxiety #compassion #inthistogether #ruok
