24.01.2022 Thanks so much for the lovely note Clare & Damien How awesome that you got to see two wombats and an echidna in the wild! Super special Now is definitely the time of year that we start to see a lot more activity with the animals. And it's one of the best times to enjoy all the best that Secret Valley has to offer, with the fireplace and spa for the cool nights, and lots of warm but pleasant sunshine to go for a bushwalk.

21.01.2022 We're not the only ones who are excited about the rain . There were some decent downpours during the night and much of today here in the valley. The earth got some nice soaking and we are hoping the forecast continues to give a good drenching for the next week. . This is great for all of the plants and animals and also helps protect from fire. We are so thankful that all of the fires of previous weeks in the mountains area have been fully contained and are smoldering now.... . This cooler weather and rain in the middle of summer have been a godsend. 18.01.2022 Spring is nearly upon us and we are welcoming it with each day of warm sunshine. The bees are about, frogs are croaking by the creek, and the eastern yellow robin has been peaking around the trees. The eastern rozella parrots have been hanging around the chicken pen to see if they can snatch up some scraps or seeds. . Feeling greatful today for the seasons and the sense of renewal and change that come with them

If you are staying with us this weekend (still availability!) or if you are just in the neighbourhood, her studio will be open for the Lithgow Arts Trail (THIS WEEKEND ONLY). . You can pop by just down the road and see where all the sculpting and firing happens, and even pick up one of her gorgeous pieces of art.... . Anna is a lover of animals and nature, and besides her art which features Australian wildlife of all kinds and is a vibrant illustration of that love, she also cares for young orphaned wombats and roos through WIRES. @ Kanimbla

16.01.2022 We would like to extend our deep gratitude for the show of concern and care for our well-being that has been extended to us over recent weeks. Secret Valley has fortunately been in a sheltered place from the recent bushfires. Happily, we are all safe and healthy, and our land and buildings have been completely preserved as local weather conditions have eased. . While the last couple months have been challenging for Australia, it has been so heartwarming to see how communitie...s have rallied together in support of those who have been the most affected by this difficult fire season. We are so grateful for members of the RFS, ADF and emergency responders for their incredible work and sacrifice. Our deep love and prayers go out to the families and communities who have lost loved ones or homes. Our hearts also ache for the great loss of biodiverse life and habitat that has happened. . We know that besides our own, many rural families and businesses have been suffering, if not from damage then from the lower than usual number of visitors to our special and unique country. While conditions have recently improved in areas like ours, now is actually an excellent time to travel to areas where the fires have eased, and to support local businesses that are open and oh so happy to serve. . In the spirit of service, we are considering how we can continue to serve as a place of refuge, for animals, plants and humans alike. . Animals: We have begun putting out food & water to help the local wildlife who have been looking for something fresh to nibble on. . Plants: while the drought conditions have continued, we have been working to set up new irrigation systems across our cottage gardens and tackling invasive species. . Our guests: the seasons ahead will see us bringing new amenities to the valley, such as convenient on-site food options, yoga sessions & nature walks. Just more reasons to visit and never want to leave this little sanctuary! . As 2020 marches onward, ask yourself how you can be of service. 10.01.2022 The roses and wild flowers are in full bloom now! Spring is here and it sure is glorious. The weather these last few days has been the best we've had all year, we've been enjoying the bushwalks and spending time on the property so much we hardly want to leave to go run errands We just rediscovered a path down into the valley that allows a more direct route from the cottages and guesthouse, so we will be working on making it more traversable and easy to find over the comi...ng weeks. This last weekend was the perfect opportunity to transplant some of the local grasses into the garden beds adjoining our creekside cottage. Nice having some more bright greenery just near the house, and I am making sure to keep them nice and watered while they get established in their new location. @ Secret Valley Escape
