23.01.2022 First Solo!! Yonglei Zhang has worked hard to develop his skills in all types of conditions, never missing a chance for a lesson. Normally jumping out of planes as a qualified skydiver, I think the pilot will have a hard time pushing you out now! Congratulations!
22.01.2022 Meet Rhys receiving his wings for a first solo conducted recently. Between smoke haze and dust storms it takes patience and dedication to stay on target with our goals! Congratulations Rhys. Secure Air is able to conduct flight training for both integrated and non integrated commercial licences. We offer the unique one on one experience - personalising the courses to meet the individual needs of our students!!
21.01.2022 Winter is coming! Between the winter systems we are enjoying smooth air and spectacular views. This Photo was taken by our newest team member Kane McLennan. Kane is converting to RAA Pilot Cert and Senior Instructor from his CPL and Grade 1 instructor rating GA. We are delighted to have him as part of the Team for Flight Training and Charter (MECIR). Secure Air - The sky is not the limit!!
21.01.2022 'BE GO-AROUND MINDED' How often do you push through an approach which is less than ideal? What are some indications of an unstable approach? An 'unstable approach' is one where at any point at or below 500ft AGL there is a deviation from standard operations. - You should be established on the desired flight path (centreline, descent profile, tracking) ... - Too high or too low constitutes an unstable approach - All approaches should be powered approaches, if not then the decision to conduct a non-powered approach must have been made and mentally briefed prior to 500ft AGL. - All checklists must be completed, if not then the added distraction and risk of other forgotten items creates an unstable approach. - Are you ahead of the aircraft? If you're uncomfortable or feeling unprepared or unhappy go-around and re-configure. - Are you prepared for the go-around? Mentally brief yourself before every approach, there are many factors which may limit the decision point for the go-around. The go-around is available during the entire approach till the point where brakes are applied (climb out obstacle clearance permitting), once you have committed to the go-around no attempt at landing shall be made. If you ever find yourself asking the question 'should I go around?' the answer is likely yes!
21.01.2022 I love a sunburnt country A land of sweeping plains Of ragged mountain ranges....... In contrast to our snow capped mountains this is Wolf creek meteorite crater. Created some 300,000 yrs ago from a 50,000 ton meteor! Imagine.... where will your flying take you!!!... Secure Air The sky is not the limit See more

20.01.2022 Brown Brothers Winery, Milawa today between the hay bales! Although we couldn't sample any of the goods, some good experience was gained on grass airfield landings.
19.01.2022 Congratulations to Brendan Leyden on your Recreational Pilots Certificate! Brendan has been extremely dedicated to complete his RPC, despite a change in post code 730km north to White Cliffs, NSW. Brendan plans on using his licence as part of his new life on the station and to keep up with his wife - good luck Brendan!
19.01.2022 A new year has commenced! Challenging weather conditions creates frustration for some on the pilot learning journey. However the flight school pilots and aircraft are gainfully employed at present as fire spotters and in air attack supervision roles on the recent fire events. While being a part of the greater team effort to help is important company work, we also extend our thoughts to the real trauma we see being experienced by many Australians. Pictured is the Twin Commanche inbound to Moruya this morning for the transportation of parts and personnel required by air operators at the heart of the effort.
19.01.2022 5270 overhead Bendigo on a beautiful Cup Day, we hope you made the most of the glorious weather today!

19.01.2022 Meet Erian Cooper, our latest Commercial Pilot. Looking a little casual today but worked towards an important goal a week or so back to achieve his CPL. Quite a few of our Commercial pilot's intensify the last few weeks of their training to meet the required standards. A successful outcome and goal achieved. Congratulations!
17.01.2022 Ben Moerenhout our newest night owl! Congratulations on your new NVFR endorsement! As you might see, not long after this achievement Ben dissapeared in IEH on an outback adventure - note the background - lots of valuble CPL experience not to mention fun!
16.01.2022 Freedom at last! Ben purchased his little Cherokee with a goal to achieve his RPL and Navigation endorsement. It hasn't been easy balancing a busy business, travelling from Bacchus Marsh to Shepparton for flight training, studying and passing exams all in a relatively short space of time. It's no mean feat! We're really proud to have helped you on the journey to achieve your goals! Congratulations Ben Gill on your Navigation Endorsement - enjoy your new found freedom!
16.01.2022 Another week draws to a close at the flight school. We congratulate Sean Davies on his first solo achieved in the Tecnam earlier this week. Sean has been thinking about flying for some time now, he had a lesson or two in a helicopter and declared that flying the Tecnam was indeed interesting and fun! We look forward to continuing our work with Sean as he progresses. The sky is not the limit! Secure Air

13.01.2022 Great day flying with Lucy and Nathan! Except for getting more solos, we flew to Yarrawonga twice in a day, accidentally getting my first cross country experien...ce, in a C172 for the first time! The pilot shop in Yarrawonga is fantastic and I am sure I will visit it again soon on my nav training. The second trip was amazing where we had a plane formation all the way up and witnessed the beautiful sunset on our way back, and what's more, it was my first time flying in dark- we can definitely tell that Christmas is about there! Great thanks to pilots Nathan and Lucy at Secure Air flight training! @Secure Air Flight Training See more
12.01.2022 Smokey and the Bandit with the Sheriff! Our Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor Lucy with her team Leigh and Woody otherwise known as 'Smokey and the Bandit' prior to their CFA Fire Spotting Reconnaissance mission over the Upper Murray Region. Also included is a picture of a little 'smokey' found on this mission, the result of a lightening strike in the Barmah Forrest. With a Commercial Pilots Licence you can do so much more than just fly Charter Passengers. Fire Spotting is a very important link in the fight against bushfires and a very rewarding and therefore enjoyable role for pilots. Note - Lucy is just resting her eyes, saving them for some more spotting!
12.01.2022 Blue skies and white caps, over the ski resorts and back home within an afternoon - Jack and Josh were out sightseeing over Mt Buller this weekend, certainly the perfect time to hit the snow!
10.01.2022 Good afternoon to our pilots Its been a number of weeks since our new normal and we are well settled into our routines. Here at the Shepparton airport we are enabling our student goals, adapting and making the best of the southern winter and the covid restrictions. We are proud to say that success has continued between winter chills and planning for restrictions. There are no quick fixes for our current public health concerns and the economy, however we are grateful for our s...tudents and their willingness to adapt and have patience in these challenging times. We would like to congratulate our first solo pilots and a number of other achievers this June 2020: In flight a picture of concentration is Dakota North first solo in late May. Lower Left is Alby De Simone first solo in tecnam 17th June and lower middle picture is James Sach first solo in tecnam 20th June. 08.01.2022 Instructor Kane and James Garrick on the last flight of the day right on the "pot of gold" - well at least the promise of brighter skies soon.
08.01.2022 Congratulations to our newest licensed pilot and last for the year, Yonglei Zhang! Yonglei has been working hard, flying frequently in order to achieve his Recreational Pilots Certificate before the New Year. May 2020 bring you many happy landings Yonglei!
07.01.2022 Today was quite the day for a CPL flight test, the forecast alone required putting into practice commercial level skill sets! The candidate had to assess, risk manage, make decisions, adapt and conduct the flight efficiently and safely. The final landing at home base was in 15 kts of cross wind with gusts and wind shear thrown in for free! AND HE DID! Congratulations Rhys Jones. Rhys completed the 150 hr Integrated Commercial Pilot course. He elected to fly the commercial sequences in the Cessna 180 allowing him to develop the optimum skills required to fly in command of this powerful performing tail wheel aircraft. The sky is not the limit - Secure Air Flight Training - Part 142
07.01.2022 Congratulations to Alessio Ercole on achieving your Recreational Pilots Licence! After a short celebration Alessio is already diving into the next stage, completing his first navigation lesson yesterday! Far from the familiar coastline of Italy, where Alessio's journey began, this new stage in training will bring about some challenges only the remoteness of the Australian countryside can provide! Best wishes for the next life goal!

06.01.2022 Double trouble! Two high school mates back together, Nathan our instructor and Tony Scott our newest Recreational Pilot Certificate holder! Living in Mansfield and working at Mt Dare (Northern Territory) achieving your RPC in Shepparton was quite the undertaking. However, we know in the remote outback your license and skills will be put to good use! Congratulations Tony!!
05.01.2022 Jack's been back! Some great shots of the Mt Buller Chairlift from Jack Spencer - there must be something magical about flying over these snow capped mountains - even better when you can share the experience with family and friends.
04.01.2022 Congratulations to Dylan achieving his first solo late last week! The real challenge has been the weather, but Saturday the planets aligned and Dylan took off as the command pilot. Other achievers: John Kennedy with his PPL and Sean Davies passed his flight test with the RPC. The Sky is not the Limit - Secure Air
04.01.2022 Congratulations to Mannon Houssaye on completing your Recreational Pilots Certificate. Your hard work and dedication has payed off, enjoy your new freedom in the Tecnam!
01.01.2022 Congratulations Jay Williams on your First Solo! Great job seeing smooth air is a very rare event lately. That first solo smile!!
01.01.2022 Congratulations Ben on achieving your Commercial Pilot Licence. Pictured is Ben with Nathan Muller Secure Air CFI and the lovely Golf Alpha Foxtrot Cessna 180. When we say that we customise your flying to suit our student's goals we really do. Ben is on his way to become an aerial applicator - or crop duster. The Ag rating is next for him with such a head start with the tail wheel time done! At Secure Air our instructors work as MECIR Charter Pilots, Aerial attack supervisors for fire ops, fly Air tractors, conduct survey flights. We even train airline pilots to fly an ultralight! The sky is not the limit!
01.01.2022 Meet Sang Han Sitting in the office post his PPL flight test with Nathan our Flight Examiner. We wish to congratulate Sang on a very well prepared and flown test for his Private Licence. Sang completed his training having to deal with the smokiest of summers and then the global pandemic that created a unwanted break in his training. Sang was patient and diligent that resulted in a solid performance. Well done!
