10.01.2022 Is Cyber Security part of your business culture? Cyber Security is no longer a technology issue, but is now a Boardroom issue. It is not a matter of if you will become a target of a cyber-attack, but when. From this article about cyber-attacks on government and non-government organisations it is clear you must be proactive, not just reactive to potential threats. To operate in today’s threat environment, it is vital to have appropriate Cyber Security solutions in place to protect your network and identify threats from cyber criminals looking to disrupt your activities and steal your data.

09.01.2022 WARNING - Security researchers are concerned cyber criminals are gearing up for another massive Ransomware campaign (where payment is demanded to regain access to your business’s critical data). Ransomware is a top threat to business, with research reporting a fresh Zepto spam campaign started on 27 June 2016, with 137,731 spam messages carrying the malware recorded in the first four days. The spam messages containing Zepto Ransomware use various subject lines, such as docum...ent copies, and various sender profiles, including CEO, in order to encourage you to open the messages and their attachments. The text in the body of the emails generally urges you to look at requested documentation attached to the emails. Also, the names of the attached .zip files containing the Ransomware are often created by combining your name and a random number, e.g. pdf_copy-peter_461397. To help reduce the likelihood of infection care should always be taken when opening email attachments from unknown senders. For business having a consistent and proven file backup strategy and Cyber Security solutions in place are prudent measures to protect your network and business against the impacts of Ransomware. Call us on 1300 769 460 or email us at [email protected] for an obligation free discussion about your security or backup situation.

02.01.2022 On Tuesday we attended a presentation by the Australian Institute of Directors, ‘Managing cyber risks in the digital age’. While the presentation was informative from the point of view of recovery from cyber-attacks and the associated insurance issues and protection, it didn’t offer information to Directors about how they can identify vulnerabilities that may lead to a cyber-attacks in the first place. Without first knowing where an organisation is vulnerable, it is almost impossible to manage the associated risk and identify security solutions that mitigate and deter such attacks. Do you feel your organisation is aware of it's vulnerabilities?
