Neither I or our Co...uncillors were aware of the issue before it appeared on Social Media. For the record - Soul City are my favourite local band Media Release: Band not Banned The Fraser Coast CEO Ken Diehm has quashed social media rumours that the popular Soul City band has been banned from Gatakers Artspace due to a noise complaint. "It is unfortunate that one of our staff members advised the band that their tentative booking had been cancelled due to a noise complaint. This is not the case, Fraser Coast CEO Ken Diehm said. Soul City’s popularity has got to the point that we need to put in place additional measures to comply with licencing requirements and our responsibilities to our patrons and volunteers. These measures relate to the responsible service of alcohol, the number of guests, security and noise levels. Once these issues can be addressed it would be great to have them play at Gatakers by Night again. Soul City is an awesome band and for that reason we have booked them as the headline act for this year’s Council-sponsored New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Brolga Theatre. We are very proud that the community has such a love and ownership of this event, and Gatakers by Night will continue to deliver a program of community events that activate the space, support local artists, showcase emerging local talent, as well as the exhibitions and Art Space. The next Gatakers By Night is on Saturday, August 4 and features local artist Leonie Kingdom and visiting singer Nadia Sunde
