25.01.2022 What amazing memories for our students to have from last week's Jilkminggan camp. Along with running clinics each day and checking out the incredible local environment, students also spent time at Top Didj, a cultural experience hosted by Manuel. Here's what the Multi Year 11 1 class had to say about this incredible experience: "Manuel spoke to students of his traditional way of life, growing up out bush, and passed on some of his home languages. Students were taught the sig...nificance of the fire stick and most importantly, how to use it! Manuel lead students through traditional painting techniques using reeds from the local river. It was then time for some hunting - students practiced using a woomera and spear to hunt big red". Well done to the students on their efforts throughout the week!

24.01.2022 In Term 3 Year 11 Multi 2 student Michael had the opportunity to play in the Darwin Basketball Association Wheelchair Basketball Exhibition match! Michael’s team was lead by Australian Rollers athlete Tom O’Neill, and played against another team lead by fellow Rollers teammate CJ McCarthy-Grogan. Congratulations to Team Tom for the win and to SEDA student Michael for your involvement in the game!

24.01.2022 Congratulations to our Year 12 students who are finishing their final projects and in the last weeks of their secondary school life! Recently our Year 12 Multi 2 students have organised and hosted both a round robin sports day for all of SEDA NT and a swimming carnival as part of their Community Projects Area of Study. The round robin was fully student organised including management of funds and all logistics. Well done to all students involved

23.01.2022 Ahead of the Sir Dough Nicholls round and Dreamtime game this weekend, we would like to recognise both the importance of this round in the AFL Industry, and the significance of 'Dreamtime in Darwin' in 2020. This special opportunity for the Top End will make for a particularly memorable round and we are proud to have Darwin host the teams and players. We celebrate the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players past and present and would like to acknowledge... the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their ongoing connection to land, water and community. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging leaders. Repost from our partner: @aflnorthernterritory Have you heard?! YEP! @gcsuns and Dreamtime are headed to Darwin in Round 13! #territoryfooty

15.01.2022 Thank you Football Northern Territory for all of your support and the work that you do with our students!

13.01.2022 R U OK? is all you need to ask to start a conversation that could save someone's life. By asking our friends, peers and family if they are okay, we give them an opportunity to open up and reach out for help if they need it. We also show them that we are there for them, even if they are okay right now. Remember that it is okay not to be okay, and there are many people who are there to support you. You can visit the R U OK Day page to see more resources about asking R U OK? as well as what to ask after to keep the conversation going. If you need support and you don't feel comfortable reaching out to your immediate network, please contact your teacher or another SEDA staff member who will be able to help you.

06.01.2022 Thank you to Edge Health Clubs Casuarina for your support of our students and our ongoing partnership!

03.01.2022 Earlier this year, Year 11 student Nicholas Glazbrook had the opportunity to travel with the Parramatta Eels NT Development office to the Tiwi Islands. As part of this experience, Nicholas helped deliver Rugby clinics to the students of Tiwi College. Nicholas’ role involved demonstrating drills and activities to the students at Tiwi College and educating them on all aspects of the game of Rugby. Nicholas described the experience as enjoyable, especially being able to meet so... many new people and travel somewhere he had never been. It was also a great learning experience, with Nicholas saying, I developed an understanding of the cultural and social aspects of a remote community and how as a coach I can interact and engage with cultures and backgrounds different to my own. This opportunity has inspired Nicholas to seek more travel in his future and find a job where he can visit new places and meet new people. Thank you to the Parramatta Eels for having Nicholas join you on this trip and all the valuable lessons learnt!

02.01.2022 Our Year 10 class recently spent time on a camp at Pudakul Aboriginal Cultural Tours check out the great photos and read about the experience from the SEDA NT Year 10 class Instagram page: It was hot but we still got out there. We found bamboo for spears, pandanus leaves for weaving, relaxed with some painting, enjoyed cooling off in the pool, and finished our day off around the fire with some stories from traditional owner Graham Kenyon.
